Presumably he can just refuse to answer any questions though and then its either case closed or they have to issue an international arrest warrant to have him sent over to the USA to be questioned under arrest (where again he can just refuse to answer questions)... im not sure without any arrest that the letter is anything more than "we would like to ask you some questions please" and Ronaldo's lawyers say "no thanks we are busy"

Probably rules out him going off any any Juve pre season tour to USA and perhaps means his last pay day wil need to be in the middle east or china rather than MLS but thats about it I think
 
Looks extremely bad on him if he's now running away from the US.

If you don’t have access to the community then you obviously won’t know which house he lives at.

That said, these lawyers do look like amateurs considering they have spent almost a year to try to give him the papers. Shouldn’t be that difficult to serve him while he’s writing autographs etc after a match for instance.

They just have to turn up at the training ground, it's not that difficult.

I'm not even talking about his guilt but if he's seen to exile himself from the US, his reputation would be dragged through the mud regardless. Who's that film director who was to face assault charges but ran away?

Still, we all know how the US can be. Why take the risk? That said, this matter is most likely going to be settled, one way or another, and he'll be free to roam the US in the future.

Isn't it just a part of the process ? First they have to try and give it to him in person, then they can apply to deliver it at a company address instead.

Hardly unlikely. Guilty or not, given the stature and potential damage inflicted on his public image by prolonging the case, thus effecting his private sponsorship deals, him and his lawyer was always going to be interested in paying.

Didn’t he pay the biological mother of his eldest son $10m for a NDA?

Think should be the same ballpark for this, wonder what the terms are since she broke the settlement once already.

No, he is implying, for example, that he was not about to fly with Juve in any flight that could stop in US even by emergency to avoid being arrested. Avoiding Justice is not only being or not guilty. Is collaborating with it also
