With Jose still in charge - I am NOT looking forward to next season

I just saw a tweet that I think is pretty fair.

Liverpool, Chelsea and City fans are all looking forward to every game. Arsenal have a new lease of life under Emery. Spurs are optimistic under Pochettino. That's mostly accurate of all their fans.

Ours are massively split, and that is never a good sign.
Because we are a self entitled bunch who doesn't know what we want.
Our fanbase have been hilariously exposed for a while now.
We just haven't got a clue. We can't hide behind Sir Alex and trust his judgement anymore so we second guess everything and are never wrong because of A B or C reasons and everything becomes toxic because of it

Yes. Otherwise they wouldn't be flooding this thread now? Or are we to assume it's all just coincidental timing?

Perfectly fine harbouring those opinions. To pretend this game hasnt triggered you is stupid.

We were miles off City while playing a negative, defensive brand of football under a manager who is happy with various mediocre players.

The people who are worried about the clubs direction didn't magic this up tonight, they've thought it for a while. I'm sure you know this though.

Compared to what other fanbase? Nonsense point.

It’s madness from Mourinho prioritising centre backs when we need wingers and left back. Does he really want another season of Young and Valencia? Because that’s what it looks like.

We have no width at all. Not really looking forward to the season at all. Assumed we’d have atleast planned what we wanted. One minute we want a left back and the next minute Jose is happy.

Actually both are desperately needed

And yet here we are. If it has absolutely nothing to do with this game, then you're telling me it's all just a big coincidence, right? Stop kidding yourself.

This post sums you up completely. Your tone never changes. It's always the same condescending know it all BS. You know exactly what people are thinking, if they disagree with your assertion or feel they know their own minds, their "kidding themselves"

But yeah fine, have it your way. I was perfectly happy with Jose and have suddenly decided to give out about his football today for the very first time because I got upset over a meaningless friendly. Good chatting to you

He'll be gone from the club by Christmas. It's all boiling to a point at the minute, blaming the board, Woodward, players, the World Cup etc

I think I'm starting to write this season off alright and it's only fecking July!! :wenger::wenger::wenger:

Posters saying its a meltdown over a preseason game are totally missing the point.

We had Sanchez and Mata up front who are both 5'6 up against the giant Van Dijk and kept hoofing the ball to them from goal kicks and open play. Needless to say we lost all these duels and had the ball coming back at us. Long balls with those two up front screams of a lack of ideas and invention.

It may just be preseason but that tells me Jose has no fecking clue how to set up a team for neat and intricate passing play. The back three were absolutely terrible at passing out from the back. I guess we could criticise them individually but the bigger problem is Jose and his lack of know-how and importance of keeping the ball.

The season is going to be a huge clusterfeck. All I'll hope for is Jose getting the sack rather sooner than later.

The issue is not this game, it is the last 2 years. We have played dire football and although this is just a friendly, it adds fuel to fire. In addition, this was a game against Liverpool, we have to show more passion no matter the significance of the game. If Jose does not get this after 2 years, then he and any of the plays can f off. The club has been built on passion and I feel it has be drained out by moyes gaal and Jose.

Brilliant. That's fine. Go with that of that's how you feel. Just don't pretend that you just happen to decide to share this opinion again immediately after a pre season friendly with almost all of our first team missing, and then tell us it's got nothing to do with the game.

Happy with mediocre players? Have you been under a rock for the last two months? You're just sounding desperate now.

Nothing to do with the score or missing players.

One team looked like they were playing with a collective philosophy, the other looked like they had no semblance of a clue.

His post match comments are so negative. He sounds like a man who wants to leave.

Plus the football for the most part has been atrocious. Wish he'd just bite the bullet.

Dont be that insensitive please. What a horribly over the top way to make a point.
Way to detract from the bullshit you're posting. If you're going to type neanderthalic nonsense, then at least have the gall to stand by it.

Is that the only reason? If we were on City's position, or even Liverpool's, would it be the same?

Why? To give you a few more inches on your internet penis? Sorry, your tone is horrendous and very typical.

You're literally responding directly after a pre seaodn game in a thread thats been inactive for over 2 months, and then you try to pretend the game has nothing to do with it. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic. Who do you think you're kidding?

Who said you were perfectly happy? In fact i have - on several occasions - referenced this very point. Harbour that opinion, just dont try to pretend you arent getting (hilariously) worked up over a pre season friendly involving almost none of our first teamers.

A split fanbase is proof things are not OK. If things were 100% good we wouldn't have a split fanbase. It's that simple.

I said there's various mediocre players he's happy with and that's completely true.

The new contract he gave to Fellaini, the praise he gives to McTominay, or his contentment with Young and Valencia as first choice fullbacks are evidence of this.

Wow, we are bringing the big guns out now. You just need to call me an keyboard warrior and we've got bingo. Says the bloke losing his shit over a pre season friendly.

Is that the only reason? If we were on City's position, or even Liverpool's, would it be the same?
Its the fact we point to those two teams every time they have a good result or cry about how we should be in for him every time they make a signing.
We were playing well until the international break while scoring four a game last year and there were criticisms that we were scoring too often late in the game for feck sake. Or whining about how we're so far behind these two sides while watching Madrid v Bayern.
Fans have confused the Sir Alex way with the United way and its screwed us up. We don't know what we want. We want to play like Liverpool but not finish fourth. We want to win like City but ignore the fact they spent 50 percent more to do so. We want to press like Spurs but actually win something.
Its bits and pieces of everybody else that doesn't quite go together hence why every teams finishing position outside of City are ignored in these discussions.

So content he just pretended to try to sign Sandro. So content he actually did sign Dalot. Must be a magical place you live in.

I'm optimistic about next season. Pogba, Lukaku, Young, Lingard, and Rashford were all involved in the world cup through to at least the semi-finals. If we can get past the first three games with 6-7 points, I think we can compete for the title. These plus Sanchez and Fred are very good players through the spine of the team. Maybe defensively we are still a player short and that could come back to haunt us, but overall I'm more optimistic than pessimistic.

I know its only pre-season, but my God we're fecking dull under this bloke.

Mourinho is finished.

This pre season is only a sign of things to come. This guy has lost it, we need to get rid of him before it’s to late!

We are the shits.

Even though it's pre season you know for sure our football will be dire, in fact if we had Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar under Mourinho he would turn them into Carton Palmer.

..and the countless others with similar posts who seem to be able to predict the future. This is pre-season, results mean nothing. As a reminder, in the 2014 season (and I'm using this year specifically because it was also a year n which we had a World Cup, so like this year many teams were missing key players), with LVG at the helm, we won 5 and drew 1 of the 6 pre-season games, including beating Liverpool and Real Madrid 3-1. And then we all know what happened when the season came round.

Save the doom and gloom until at least we've played the first few games with a full strength squad in games which actually mean something eh.

What a post.

As much as I am not a fan of Man Utd, Mourinho is a nomad and his archaic ways will lead to nowhere anymore. He doesn't stay long at one team, does he? I don't know how long he will last but with your talented players you need a better attacking manager and philosophy. It's only preseason but his negativity, moaning and blaming of others surely is not helping. You need a more modern, forward thinking manager, period.

Jose himself isn't even looking forward to the season.

I wish we had the 'special one' Jose and not this watered down version.

What do you get from this? Are you just looking for attention?

You're derailing the thread. Either join in the actual discussion at hand or shut up and stop annoying people.

I live in a place where Young and Valencia are first choice fullbacks for Man Utd. And no, it isn't magical.
You live in a place where the manager has tried to sign replacements for both of them, and then state he's content with the fullbacks he has. Flawless logic.

I get great entertainment. What do you get from reacting to a friendly with almost all of our first teamers absent? You've already banged your drum for the last year, why continue to do so in reaction in a nothing game?

There is no discussion to be had. You've already decided Jose is the devil incarnate. You're at the point now where you're criticising him over the performance in what equates to a fitness test. What a place to be in.

He's signed a young fullback as competition, anything else is just speculation on your part.

The fact is that he's going into the new season with Young and Valencia as first choice and he's evidently happy with this as we're not trying to replace either of them.

It’s his last season anyway we’ve not kicked a ball yet (competitive game) and already you feel something is off, when the inevitable 2-3 early losses happen he will go on full sulk mode as per.

We want to win. I think it's pretty much as simple as that. We want to win the league and we haven't come close for half a decade.

Save the doom and gloom until at least we've played the first few games with a full strength squad in games which actually mean something eh.

True, anyone making their decision on Mourinho and the likely season based on tonights game is a bit moronic. But I don't think most are, when you factor in how bad we were towards the end of the last season and Mourinho's overall negativity it's understandable why fans are frustrated.

But it's not speculation on your part is it? You've already seen the future.

He's evidently happy? He's not tried to sign a replacement? Evidently you've missed the 34 page long thread about Alex Sandro...

It's not speculation, it's common sense. Mourinho isn't going to drop the physically strong and experienced Valencia for a player with six first team games under his belt.

Using a transfer thread as proof we tried to sign Sandro is amusing. I suppose we tried to sign Fekir and Mahrez as well then? they both have long threads on here after all.

Usually I get some sorts of honest discussion. That's why I post. Today I'm just getting bad wind up attempts from somebody trying to entertain himself. Lucky me. Im honestly only responding out of politeness at this stage so I'll leave it.

Good luck with your wind ups and straw man arguments. I'm sure someone else will entertain you.

Oh I see! It's common sense now. So your bullshit about speculation only applies to people who disagree with you. You precognitive lot know where it's at.

It would be if you bothered to read it. I suppose it would be "common sense" to differentiate it from the other clickbate nonesense you're lumping it in with.
