Wilshere's price?

Surely not another contentless post from our Nick.

Here you go ignoring all posts which show you up to be talking crap and simply resorting to saying there's no substance to counter your posts and hope nobody notices that you're a moron. The cat's out of the bag, pete, give it up.

I can't be bothered to do it again but the last time I looked at your typical contribution you had umpteen posts saying precisely zilch - which is your usual MO. No one's come up with any kind of rationale for Wilshere being worth less than £60M or Rafael being dropped for any other reason than his defensive shortcomings.

Wish I'd known you were there Gillian, I'd have bought you a pint.

From my seat in the East stand upper tier I couldn't hear anything from your shower of shite.

Of course I still go to ER...been going since the late 60's so I can't stop now can I.

I will ignore the abuse, if you couldn't hear our fans after Nasri scored, you might need your ears syringeing.

Nevertheless, I hope you get promoted soon. I was with my Leeds supporting cousin (born and bred in Leeds) and we went for a few beers afterwards in Headingley.

Leeds should be an ever present in the Premiership though at the time I did despise the Revie team of the late 60's/early 70's

Fantastic support by the way however, my cousin says Leeds fans hate Man Utd still to this day (they always did, going back to the 60's and more vitriolic than the rivalry with Liverpool back then and that is a fact)

Clearly, you are more rounded than the average Leeds fan?

So Rafael is crap, won't start the big games from here on in and Arsenal will win the league and probably the Champions League too.

Seems to me a whole host of caf bets are in order.

Given you are meant to be a Leeds fan, I guess you are part of the same programme?

PS I was at Elland Road when we beat you in the FA Cup replay a few weeks back. Were you there? I have to say Leeds fans were great. Best chant 'We're not famous any more'. Tell me Marching do you go to Leeds games these days?

I thought you'd been away on business and only conveniently returned this weekend? Thus explaining why you couldn't post on the caf.

Just saying like......

Hey, one last thing Marching, since you were at that game

Can you at least confirm that when Nasri was substituted he was applauded off by your fellow fans?

He was because he played brilliantly and your fellow fans were decent enough to recognise that

One last thing.......driving and trying to park at Elland Road is not good

Leave lots of time

:nono: Every player has his price.

Arsenal have no financial troubles. Wilshere is English and has come through their academy. He is the biggest English talent since Rooney. They would never sell, even if they received an offer of £200m.

It's one thing singing after a goal...what about the library like silence for the rest of the game. It was the same at SJP....bit of singing after each of the 4 goals and dead silence when the team could have done with a bit of support as you fecked it up big style.

Headingley...is your cousin a student? I was surprised you failed to take your full allocation of tickets.

It was fun back in the Don Revie/Bertie Mee days....you hated us and we hated you. Great fun.

My hatred of MU has faded as I've grown up...more important things in life. To be honest I dislike liverpool more these days...and scumderland and spurs.

Well 3 months ago I told you what to bet...

Last time I looked Chelsea were 1/2 with Man Utd 6/1 and Arsenal 7/1. Any value punter would back Arsenal and Man Utd.

I can confirm nobody anywhere near me applauded the freaky looking sod off.

He was the difference though....Arseshavin was crap....laughed when his shot went out of the ground.

Only fools drive and park at the ground....football special buses run from the city centre run every few mins.

You mean apart from the posts where people did? Sorry, forgot, they don't count.

No, he's not a student ....too old for that

He doesn't live in Headingley we just stopped there on the way home

We didn't take up our full allocation for a midweek FA cup replay because with all the other competitions we are involved in it's just too expensive to do them all....eg Barcelona away?

Surely you can understand that?

A Leeds fan who hates Liverpool, Sunderland and Spurs more ain't no Leeds fan to my mind

You have gone native on the caf and Newcastle seems to have exerted also an emotional pull

I tell you this.....real Leeds fans hate Man Utd with an almight vengeance quite obvious when and if they return to the Premiership

Now I live here the vast majority of my mates are Geordies so it's fun to watch them....if they win great if they lose it doesn't really bother me....although my mates and Mrs aren't in the best of moods.

ALWAYS bothers me if Leeds lose....and never question whether I am a Leeds fan you southern cnut or I will ban you.  I thought I'd mellowed....perhaps you bring out the worst in me.

I'm surprised people are still taking pete's posts seriously. He's clearly a WUM. I'm guessing he is sitting in front of his screen with a smirk on his face at the anger and attention that his posts are generating.

People are living in 2005 with prices like £30m. We wouldn't even reply to the inquiring e-mail if it was less than £60m.

What do you value Fabregas at exactly?

Am I not right in saying that you only said a couple weeks ago that you thought Fernando Torres was overpriced?

Erm, I am sure their shareholders would have something to say about that.

Was a good thread while it lasted I guess. So I guess we have a consensus at between £35-40 million.

Gibbs is further ahead than Rafael but you don't hear us suggesting he's worth £45M or hyping him up like the second coming. 'Av a word with yourselves.

You really should step outside your delusion filled world of arsenal fc and start actually watching other teams. Gibbs! Haha

Wilshere's like gold dust a potentially world class player who won't want to feck off to Spain.

There is a point there, but you dont know that for sure. Unless he's said exactly that.

You'd imagine that playing so well against Barcelona will mean they keep an eye on him, and the other Spanish teams seeing as they were undoubtebly watching. At some point in his career he could be open to the idea of trying a new league.

I haven't bothered reading through the thread fully as yet, but I'm tipping there are a fair few idiotic posts already. But for these kinds of threads you have to ask if by his price do you mean comparatively in the market? Or, the price as valued by Arsenal?

ALL things considered the price for Wilshere would be exorbitant, probably something around the £40 million mark. This is due to a few reasons:

- Firstly, why would Arsenal want to sell such a talented young player, who looks like he can already handle the pressure of playing the most important position on the pitch? Money certainly isn't an issue with us ATM, and we aren't in the market for several other positions so it's not a case of having to sell to buy for the greater good.

- Secondly, the Fabregas situation... Will he stay or will he go? Either way it seems we have a ready-made replacement for Fabregas in the side if he was to leave for Barcelona at the end of the season. And it's clearly a billion times more likely that Fabregas would leave than Wilshere. So, why sell such a young talent who could step in to cover for our best player if he was to leave?

- Thirdly, the British factor. Arsenal are forever being lambasted for having too few British players in their squad, let alone their XI. Now we have four potential British stars of the future (in Walcott, Gibbs, Wilshere and Ramsay)... With Wilshere looking like he going to play an integral part in the future of our side. He's most probably the best young British talent out there in the game today, and will also most likely become the face of the club in years to come.

- Fourth, the talent, and what a talent indeed... Obviously no clubs like to sell their best young players, especially ones that show such leadership qualities so early on into their career. He was out there marshaling the players, urging them forward and telling seasoned campaigners where to go against the best club in the World. He didn't show a shred of reservation out there, it seems to me that he knows he belongs out there on the big stage. Players can't really learn that, it's just an innate trait some people are born with... Others take years to develop that self-belief (look at Nasri, it took him two seasons to really believe in his own ability and now it shows in his game). Natural leader, un-phased and plays like he belongs... All at 19.

- Fifth, being Arsenal. You'd think if he was to ever leave it would most probably be for another Premier League side... The law of averages tells us this. But who would he move to? We're a side on the up full of young talented players who have the best years ahead of them, and why would we want to not only flog our best young player, but flog him to a direct rival in the League? So practically every move would be sideways, so the only big motivation could be money, which probably only leaves Chelsea or City...

Anyway, all these things considered there's just no way Arsenal would want to sell such a young talent. He will most likely be a key figure for our side for years and years to come (touch wood), so there's just no logical reason why the people at Arsenal would even consider selling him unless the most ludicrous bid came in. I wouldn't flog him for Ronaldo like money, though before the slow people get their nickers in a twist I'm not saying he's better... Simply that if I was in charge I wouldn't sell him for anything ATM.

You really should step outside your delusion filled world of arsenal fc and start actually watching other teams. Gibbs! Haha

Gibbs has been extremely impressive whenever he's played for us. Though unfortunately he seems to cop long, interrupting injuries that set back his development. Last season there wasn't an argument to be had with that comment there, but this season he hasn't had a chance to play, whilst Rafael's come on in leaps and bounds.

I have to say, I agree with Scholesy... McEachran does look like he's going to become immense.

As for Wilshere, alastair is have a bloody laugh. £60 million? Please get your head out of the clouds.

He'd be round about the same price as Carroll, maybe slightly higher. 37mil max imo. And that's just basing it on the overinflated prices of late. Usually 20 million would be about right.

To think what we paid for Rooney, and then to claim Wilshere is worth over double that.

£20 million is laughable, just laughable.

The plonkers in this thread really need to get a clue and look at the bigger picture here. And this isn't to say he's a £60 million player like Kaka, but the circumstances and with all things considered you just wouldn't accept anything less. That's just ludicrous to suggest otherwise.

Edit: As for Rooney... He was playing at Everton. There's a stark difference between Everton and Arsenal. And he wanted out... And it was back a few years when players of Carroll's ilk weren't being flogged for £35 million. Switch on.

Gibbs is not close to Rafael at all

Well he is, both have shut out good players and contribute going forwards. If you're suggesting otherwise Chief you didn't watch him last season, and we all know you watch every game that's been played ever.

It's obviously yet to be seen how his progress is going since his recent spate of injuries, hopefully he continues to develop like he has because he was looking extremely impressive last season.

I thought that Nasri would be a good replacement for Fabregas if you sold him last summer, due to his performances at the end of last season filling in for Cesc.

Would Nasri, Wilshire and Song be that much weaker? I do think it would be weaker but sometimes doing something like this leads to certain players pushing on and taking on responsibility. Between Nasri and Wilshire they would likely be able to cover his departure.

And it would mean they have a boat load of money to address defence, keeper, and someone to play on the left wing - if not Arshavin.

Which players did he shut out last season?

Gibbs looks a good player, but Rafael looks set to become one of the best in the world in his position.

When you got rid of Cole, replacing him as a starter with Clichy there was a lot of hype about him being one of the best. He's never pushed on and achieved it, whats the reason to think his less talented understudy is going to do what he couldnt?

Since when? I've never seen Gibbs put in a superlative defensive display against quality opposition. Defensively he is still way behind Rafael. Only an Arsenal fan could deny some thing that obvious. If anything Gibbs is like Rafael's brother Fabio. A player with massive potential yet to begin the journey to fulfilling it.

and we all know you watch every game that's been played ever.

Nasri could, he's definitely better centrally. And he can even play deeper too, though it takes away some his threat as a scorer. He's tenacious enough, we saw that after Song was taken off and Nasri was moved centrally we had enough cover between Wilshere, Fabregas and Nasri. They were VERY fluid and are an extremely mobile midfield.

And then there's Ramsay... I don't know what Wenger will do, but I suspect if we can keep three of Nasri, Wilshere, Ramsay and Fabregas for the best parts of their careers then we'll be looking good.
