Spurs also stole Gylfi and Dempsey from under the nose of Liverpool last summer.
Spurs have never had the remotest interest in Carroll and certainly didn't bid £25 for him never mind £25 million. Not did we pursue Mikhtaryan.
As for Willian, Spurs tried hard to sign him last summer when AVB first arrived, but lost out to the mega-money riches of Anzhi. AVB has long had a connection with - and interest in - Willian.

The very notion that Spurs would be stealing Liverpool targets is laughable. You're comfortably better than them, and unless your aim is to fall out of contention for the Champions League places, chasing Liverpool level players wouldn't be the aim.
Much like how United wouldn't chase players at Spurs level.

I think historically there has been a lot of suspicion around Spurs' transfer targets just being bought off the back of other interest. The more reliable of the Arsenal in the knows seem to all think that.
You could also argue that given Spurs/Arsenal/Liverpool are all around each other in the league, the kind of targets are inevitably going to be similar anyway.
