Willian | Signed for Chelsea

Yes, Chelsea are certainties for the top 4, as are ourselves and City. And considering Spurs are looking that way too, there's no room for you I'm afraid. Try the Europa.

I was trying to have an impartial conversation about the 4 Champions Leagues spots, no need to be a tosser about it. I didn't realise the 4 spots were a closed shop before the second fixture.

Closed shop before the season started.

Arsene's wallet is open to you to take the £40,000,001... and you may be forced to in a week.

We have this old bollox every season from you lot... how does it end up?
I backed you to finish ahead of Spurs for each and every one of the last few seasons, I even told my friends there'd never be a time in Premier League when Spurs would finish ahead of Arsenal. With recent development I changed my mind though and this is the time (unless you stop fecking around and strenghten significantly).

You need first team quality in at least 3 positions and about 3 squad players too. Not going to be easy with 12 days left.

Why not 1p instead of £1? Wenger clearly wasn't thinking there, he could of saved 90p.

Forced to what? Arsene thought he was being crafty bidding an extra £1 for an imaginary clause!

I think he thinks that the fee comes into play for a team in the champions league.

Ah. The world is normal with Pete and Glaston arguing again.

I was getting nervous with the recent 'unholy alliance' of ganging up together on United.

Not sure if there's any difference between Mignolet and Reina. Anyhow they're still looking for a replacement for Suarez. Have bidded for Mkhitaryan, Costa and now Willian and all three have been rejected.

They've signed Cissokho and Kolo Toure who are both average players.

Mignolet is comfortably better than Reina (I never rated him really highly tbh).

And I also not really see Liverpool missing out on the three mentioned players as bad business, because all chose superior options over Liverpool. Costa decided to stay at Atletico, who offer him CL football and probably some really good conditions in his new contract. Mkhitaryan was outside of their reach as soon as Dortmund (again CL football and title chances on top of it) became serious for him. With Willian they are seemingly outmatched by a superior PL club.

I personally think, that transfer windows should be rated on the possibilities of the respective clubs and for what Pool has to offer, they have not acted that poorly.

Wenger and Woodward on the other hand.....

Mignolet isn't comfortably better than Reina.

They've made signings to strengthen their squad very early and then have sold guys like Shelvey, Downing etc which have again weakened it.

Cissokho isn't very good, Aspas is good but we will see on him. Alberto is a youngster and we all know Kolo Toure.

Essentially what KM wrote is surely correct.

All their big moves haven't come off and they've essentially just upgraded their squad players very slightly.

If Suarez does eventually leave, they're arguably in a much worse position than last year, and judging by their game at the weekend, they are still suffering from exactly the same problems in front of goal.

It's strange how some people are now saying he's better than Reina. Mental.

It's because he plays for Liverpool obviously. He must be better now.
Reina was bad for the last few seasons but even then he wasn't that much worse than Mignolet. If Reina ever starts playing well again then he'll be comfortably better than Mignolet though.

They'll be stronger with or without Suarez IMO. Don't forget they have Sturridge and Coutinho from beginning this time. Not good enough to quaify for UCL still, but they should give a good challenge and in case you and Spurs bottle it, they can be there.

LFC obviously had a value on Willian that they stuck by, some reports say Tottenham offered more and we wouldn't others say the player
wanted to be in London (or maybe his wife or girlfriend did!).

I think Liverpool are obviously trying to ship out the dross and improve the squad - but haven't yet been able to add that marquee signing we need to boost the starting eleven.
Time will tell whether the next 2 weeks or so change that or how the squad perform over the course of the season.
The club have obviously made bad mistakes in the transfer market like we did when Kenny was manager, which obviously they do not want to repeat - that probably explains the reluctance to pay more than they think the player is worth - supporters will feel paying that extra may make a real difference to where the club finish in the league table.

Assuming the Suarez situation settles down an attacking line up of him, Sturridge, Aspas and Coutinho looks very good - backed up by the likes of Borini, Sterling and Ibe.

On the face of it Tottenham are clearly moving in the right direction to get that top 4 place.

They've taken a step forward but they're about to sell Bale and take two back.

We sold Ronaldo and didn't move backwards. Its all about making sure you strengthen the team well enough in his absence, and arguably with the players they are suppose to be bringing in, they have done that.

Will they all step up to replace Bales goals? Who knows; but the team is definitely stronger overall even without Bale.
