Willian | Signed for Chelsea

I've never seen him play, and don't know if he's what we need, but I'd happily bring him in if it meant Liverpool missed out.

Wouldn't make sense if as expected Nani is staying. We have Young, Nani, Zaha and Valencia already.

I don't rate Young and Valencia had a poor season, but Moyes will find it hard keeping all of them happy.

He can play as a winger but I'd say he's more of an attacking midfielder in the Kagawa mould. Maybe we plan on using him as a central midfielder?

Anderson hates this post.

It won't be the perfect scenario but signing him as an attacking midfield doesn't really make sense at the moment. We already have Kagawa and Rooney doesn't seem likely to leave this summer. Moyes letting him rot in the reserves does not seem likely either, no matter how radical some people want us to act in dealing with Rooney.

The Telegraph are saying that we're in for two midfielders - a creative one and at attacking, goalscoring one. If that's true, maybe we've chosen Willian for the attacking/goalscoring role.

Or more likely we're not in for him and it's just media bollocks. He doesn't seem a likely target at all, given the sort of player we need at the moment.

Can anyone give an overview of how good he is? Stats aren't significant but they hardly convey the fees being touted, is the afro adding 10m?

Well thank god for that. We are interested. Please people stop with this well how does that work, how would so and so feel. We might actually get a centre midfielder and I bet someone will say, ' what does this mean for Cleverley'.

It just means more competition and it would be Valencia who would have to worry, he's similar as in direct but more agile.

We didn't want Nico Gaitan, Douglas Costa and few others in our team but we're interested in this chap ?

Maybe, he's good, who knows... at least he looks like he has some skill, attached to his game. Still not sure about the effects of his work on the pitch.

It really is kind of worrying when even a YouTube video can't make a player look good...

Not sure if that is just a shit video or what but it didn't make him look good.

I don't understand why these Brazilians who played at Shakhtar have been so overpriced and in some cases overhyped? Take Fernandinho for example. Good CM but is he really worth that price which City paid? Similar with Willian. Decent player whenever I saw him in Champions league, but again not sure if worth 30m. At Shakhtar, it was different as they were winning domestically for fun and had a group of players who had stayed together who had a chemistry going.
Also the South Americans have always had troubles adjusting in England and EPL style, in most cases anyway.
Given all this, it won't be any disaster if we don't get him even if he available just 6 months after his transfer. 20m or so, we may consider but then we have wingers aplenty in our side.

They've been overpriced because they play for and were sold to Oligarch/Oil clubs. Basically Arabs and Russians trying to buy their way to trophies and overpaying for players in the process.

I don't see the point if him unless we are selling Rooney same with ozil although would happily take ozil. Still wouldn't be addressing cm though.

That's 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

If we signed Fabregas and Modric or Ozil would we be so bothered about Rooney. He'd have competition from Kagawa, Ozil and potentially Adnan. It seems he doesn't like competition.

He's much better than Gaitan and Costa.

Selling him or not we are probably planning on replacing him in a year or two because he isn't signing a new deal. Willian is only 25 so he could be here for another 4-5 seasons at least and should be available at a decent fee now. He also works well from out wide.

Just 40 goals in a career total of 274 games. Most of those playing in a mediocre league. At the age of 25 all he has is a grand total of 2 caps for Brazil.

Let's hope Wenger puts in a bid of £30 million & a pound.

Have to admit without seeing him ever play, he's hardly looking like a £30m player (outside of FM). Hopefully, Spurs will do what Spurs do, try to buy our targets. In the meantime we get Munian (for a much cheaper price).

So much wrong with that whole quote.

That's all well and good, and explains why they went to the Arab and Russian clubs for ridiculous fees, but non-Arab/Russia/oil funded clubs should have the sense not to spend what they were bought for on them when they leave those clubs, if their real worth is considerably less. I wouldn't be overjoyed to see us spunk £30mil on this dude. He's a bit 'meh'.

Muniain is grossly overrated and generally not all that good I reckon.

This guy is seriously shit. You can find better videos of guys playing in the Papua New Guinea league.

Oh yh, if we signed ozil or fabregas than we'd be in a much better position over Rooney, we wouldn't need him as a player anywhere near as much so really either a case of him knuckling down and trying to deal with the competition or him just sulking, unless the right offer comes in or the Glazers don't want to pay him the cash for not playing. Like I said though it wouldn't solve the actual problem in the team which is cm, but I'd happily take Ozil as Rooneys replacement.

Well you'd hope that in Kagawa and Welbeck in two years with Januzaj around we would be able to cope if Rooney did leave in two years, provided they progress in line with their potential, if we sold Rooney right now I'd agree we'd probably need a big name player, don't think it would necessarily have to be up front though. Also personally reckon if Rooney didn't get his move I think if he gets on with it that he'd likely stay beyond 2 years especially if other clubs like Chelsea sort out their front line which you'd expect they would before 2 years. I can't see how we could sign this guy though and keep Rooney personally, we'd have a ridiculous number of attacking players.
