Willian | Signed for Chelsea

Can't see where Chelsea will play all these players, someone will want to leave surely, even if they sign Rooney, he's hardly a out and out striker, he likes to come deep and get involved, what is Jose going to do? play with a false striker like Barca?

Moses will probably be loaned out.

Do you have enough home grown players for the champions league? I thought you were a bit light on that and if you loan out Moses it'll be even tighter.

Plus you've brought back De Bruyne and bought Schurrle.

Seems a bit odd for your lot to go for Willian.

It's classic plastic club tactics: buy who everyone else wants whether you need them or not.

It's possible they add Jackson Martinez to that lot if they fail to sign Rooney.

Re: homegrown limits, the signing doesn't seem to change much:

17 non-homegrown (which = the maximum for League & CL):
Čech, Schwarzer, Hilário, Ivanović, Luiz, Azpilicueta, Essien, Ramires, Mikel, Mata, Oscar, Schürrle, De Bruyne, Hazard, Willian, Ba, Torres
1 club trained:
Terry
5 FA trained:
Cahill, Cole, Lampard, Bertrand, Moses.

u-21:
Van Ginkel, Lukaku

So they'll be fine when it comes to the Premier League unless they want to add another non-homegrown player, & assuming Moses misses out when it comes to the CL squad, if they want to add Rooney (without losing a non-homegrown player), Bertrand would likely have to miss out too.

It's a bit of a strange signing since Chelsea are already very well stocked with attacking midfielders, but from what I've mainly heard he seems like a good player.

You could probably find an old article like that for half the players in Europe.

So? This article has direct quotes from the player on his desire to join CFC, Chelsea being interested but Shakhtar's asking fee being prohibitive, and that's from almost a year ago. In light of that your original point makes no sense.

What makes no sense is why you want to sign this player in the first place, rubbish articles from last year aren't going to change that.

How's this all work with financial fair play?

Seems like they just keep buying and buying and buying.

Gazprom offer to sponsor UEFA to the tune of $x. I think that's how FFP will work with regards to Chelsea.

To be fair, Chelsea were the first English club I heard linked with Willian when he was at Shakhtar. Didn't he score against them in a Champions League game before?

This link is from October 2012. Chelsea were after him long before he did his medical at Spurs. Should we claim that Anzhi bought Willian because we wanted him, too?

This whole line of thinking is retarded.

that proves the club was after him long before mourinho went there. i wonder how he'll cope with being told what to do again? didnt go well last time, being somebodys puppet.

Just because you don't see the point in Chelsea signing the player, it doesn't mean it's senseless. First, you claimed, we want to buy who everyone else wants, whether we need them or not. The article is a proof that our interest in that player is well documented and goes way back.

Or Jose may actually rate the player the club was interested in before he returned. I have a feeling, he isn't too fond of Moses, so that can be a nice upgrade.

Kia Joorabchian is apparently his agent. If Willian ends up elsewhere one must wonder how much extra Kia receives for a move to Chelsea vice Spurs?

Or then again Chelsea are a much more attractive move than Spurs.

I think the question that could be asked if what Roman may have agreed with the Anzhi owner. I believe they are close friends.

Obviously more since its Chelsea. And Willian too. And more trophies. And champions league football year after year. And they showed interest first... And so on. Money will be one of lots of reasons he'd make the obvious choice of Chelsea over Spurs

My point being, Ekeke, is that Kia is known to whore his clients out in his own selfish pursuits. Does Willian become a regular at Chelsea or ride the pine more often? Same for Spurs I suppose. If Chelsea is offereing equal or less then he did choose for trophies, CL, etc. Otherwise, he's taking the wage which is fine with me but don't spout off the "he'll win more" as the reason a player would choose x over y. That's clearly not the motivating factor for (the majority of) players in the early stage of a career.

Yes it is.

He'll be set for life after his Anzhi deal

We say that and then see the horrors of many athletes pissing away their earned wages and broke after their career ends.

Surely he's getting a raise unless Anzhi pay any signing a ridiculous wage no other clubs can top, even to players that have yet to make their mark in the game.

Look, its not as simple as you are making out. As if Willian and his cnut of an agent are going to insist on being paid what Spurs are offering and not a penny more. If Chelsea decide that he fits somewhere in their pay system a bit higher than he would at Spurs, he's going to take it even if money doesn't matter to him. Nobody is going to reject it.

Most likely Chelsea will pay him a bit more than Spurs because they pay all their players more than their Spurs counterparts. Willian might have asked Kia to get him as much money as possible, who knows? We certainly dont. But whats absolutely undeniable is that Chelsea is a far, far, far better option for a quality player than Spurs are when its clear they are selling Bale and almost every player would make that choice even if the money was the same. So its safe to assume money is only one of several reasons why Willian has chosen Chelsea, until we hear he's on 200k a week or something

There's still time to sign a striker. I'm positive, we will bring at least one in. If Rooney is a no go, it'll be someone else. Mourinho said a while ago, we're looking at back up options, if Wayne stays put.

Whom? Eto? Has been. Who else? Is Robbie Keane still available? We need a fecking top striker :( I feel like United when they want a top class midfielder for about half a decade and seem to sign about 6 forwards. Expect that having a wealth of top forwards is generally more successful than having a wealth of midfielders.

By the way I think 32 million is madness for this player.

I just dont see what striker we are going to get if we dont get Rooney that is an improvement on what we have.

We have 2 mediocre strikers and 1 excellent prospect. Personally I now think we should go with Lukaku and ditch Ba/Torres. With Ba we seem to resort to lumping it over to him, which negates the effect Osmatard has on the game. Torres either plays well and scores a couple or does feck all, mostly feck all. Sticking with Lukaku is our best option at present.

Who else are we going to bring in which represents a significant improvement over those?

Confused by that transfer tbh. Why buy an AM when the club need a CF? Seems like a strategy to stop Spurs having him if i'm honest. Could backfire of course because Spurs might get someone better. We shall see.

Suarez or benzema might be available
Something about falcao and tax suggests he might be available
They are all a bit unlikley though... perhaps eto
As an outside bet ibrahimovic rarely stays put for long
But I think you will end up with rooney

I dont buy the notion of buying him so Spurs couldnt have him. Spurs aren't exactly our title rivals are they? Taking Soldado off of them would have made more sense, you know, a striker!
