It's more the comparison of a player joining a club for the money rather than the opportunity of first team football. Munich didn't need Thiago like Chelsea don't need Willian. It's bizarre, surely must mean Chelsea will let us have Mata... or is that wishful thinking? :angel:

I completely agree, they can only play 11 players. If he went to Spurs though, he'd instantly be an upgrade on Lennon.

I'd be surprised if they're actually in for him. It's probably his agent trying to get more money from Spurs.

Also, if Chelsea were in for him, having him and Schurrle as subs is pretty decent.

Seems Willian has most of the top 6 after him. When I bumped this a week or so ago I never thought it would take off like this! Was just putting it out there that I think he's the real deal. This arms race is getting crazy.

I'm guessing Mata will be off. Hopefully to Barca and they then let us have Sex.

Mourinho's back, what do you expect? They'll be buying him so Spurs can't have him, given Spurs were their competition for a lot of last season. Same for their interest in Rooney.

He clearly wasnt keen on Spurs, hence looking at his options. Its not his fault that he's a very good player and Spurs without Bale might not even get into the champions league

The reality is Chelsea wanted him years ago when AVB was there. He would always have had Chelsea on his mind when it was clear he was being sold like the rest of the players, wondering if they'd come back in for him... or having to settle for Spurs
 
This transfer has all the hallmarks of a Manchester City 2008-10 one. Preventing their rivals from signing a target even though they don't quite need them themselves. Ridiculous.

Has Garry Cook pitched up at Stamford Brudge this past week?
 
If Moses and Mikel are on their way maybe Mourinho feels he can shuffle people's positions around and get the likes of Oscar or Ramires to play a bit deeper, using Essien for the occasions when you really need a more defensive minded midfielder.

Would be incredibly surprised if he let any of Mata/Hazard/Oscar/De Bruyne go, much as I would love to see Mata here.
