Wilfried Zaha

Finally, a player with a bit of arrogance and power. I like the look of this lad, I hope we give him a fast-track next season...especially it our current crop of wingers carry on as they are.

I can see a certain type of player in him, but I daren't say the name.

Lets be positive and hope he does succeed.

I hope so. I'm always pessimistic of signing players who haven't at least played in the PL (or an equivalent), especially with a price tag like that.

Still, he's young, talented and seems to have a good attitude, so let's hope it works out.

Wilfried Zaha will undergo a medical with Manchester United in the next 48 hours before completing a £15m move from Crystal Palace.

The 20-year-old forward has agreed a five-and-a-half year deal but will be loaned back to Palace until the summer.

United will pay £10m up front, with the fee potentially rising to £15m based on Zaha's appearances and success.

Zaha, who joined Palace as a 12-year-old, is expected to win his second England cap against Brazil in February.

Both clubs have refused to comment on a proposed deal, but Sir Alex Ferguson has been heavily involved in the talks, having remained in England as his squad travelled to Qatar on Sunday for a short training camp.

He was named the Football League Young Player of the Year last season and attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs.

Zaha, who came through the youth academy at Selhurst Park, has scored 15 goals in 124 appearances for the Eagles since his debut against Cardiff in March 2010.

He is Palace's latest home-grown talent, following in the footsteps of Chelsea's Victor Moses and Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne.

Former Eagles forward Mark Bright has described Zaha as the biggest talent to emerge at the club since former England striker Ian Wright.

"He is probably the best prospect we [Palace] have had in terms of what he could go on to achieve," said the BBC pundit.

Why didn't we just wait til the Summer? Were we worried other clubs would take him or something?

Was probably this, he was getting hyped up quite a bit wasn't he? Probably didn't want to start a bidding war with Arsenal or whoever, which might explain why we concluded this deal at this point.

As far as I know this "possible" signing must be accompanied by far more opportunities/advantages than disadvantages/ limitations.

He reminds me of Lucas, so I guess he complies with a player profile SAF desperately wants in our squad. Nice alternative to Young, Valencia and Nani on both flanks. The fact that he is young, English, paced, entertaining and in possession of very promising technical skills suggests that I like it!

In fact, to a greater extent than would be the case with regard to Lucas. Both have good prospects, but the financial risk profile seems significantly better.

With confidence in SAF and his abilities, I actually like this very much!

Well, if we knew we wanted him anyway, why not just get it concluded? Then we can move our focus elsewhere.

Presumably. And Palace would probably prefer to know where they stand, if we're paying them 10million now it allows them to invest in a few players and also hold on to Zaha for the rest of the season, from our point of view I'm sure Fergie would rather have t tied up now and not have to deal with 6 months speculation and other clubs taking note simply because we're interested.

Would rather have him at United now, or a loan to another PL team.

It was probably a big factor in the deal going ahead, Palace are doing well in the Championship and are fighting for promotion. Zaha is by far their best player so best thing is to loan him back where he'll still play week in, week out. Plus if Palace get promoted it's a nice bonus for them.

We could have always loaned Bebe to them.

But he has a better name and is not English so he's a God. And I have seen a little more than in youtube.

Seriously speaking, I would love much more to have Nani + Zaha then anyone of those players I mentioned. Just gave my opinion what would I like for United to sign if we sell Nani.

I guess I was generalising. Glad that you'd rather have the player thats done something at the club, clearly the way it should be. Goetze looks brilliant, just the likelyhood that we'd be able to get him here regardless of how much money we have to go for him looks... terrible. James, few people here have seen him more than once or twice and our resident Porto fan says he isnt a winger but someone who plays inside and will end up in the middle. So I'll go with his assessment obviously.

Is Zaha an out an out winger or could he play as a wing forward as well in a front 3 similar to Welbeck?

Imagine we agreed verbally to take him in the summer, so Palace forget about selling him now and his future. Then in a month he gets injured longterm.

We no longer sign him, Palace dont get money and dont have a player to ensure they get into the premier league. They also have to rehabilitate him next season and with all the hype and momentum dying, will have a worse player or will have to sell for a much smaller fee.

If we sign him now, thats it. Future secured, he can concentrate on his football for Palace.

What that doesnt explain is the rumoured price. Clearly we are playing by their rules, so the price should reflect that and not sound like over the top United tax.

From what has been written, he has gone from being picked wide to playing in a striking role. That would suggest he could certainly play in a front 3.

From that youtube video I am thinking that he must have some Brazilian genes.

Would make sense that this is the type of player we'd go for, would allow us to switch between 442 and 433 in games.

Welbeck - Hernandez - Zaha

Looks extremely dynamic that striking formation. So many new options for SAF.

Not a move that will change the complexion of the team, IMO. Wanyama, on the other hand, would be significant

Midfielder ? We don't sign them.

Any Wingers, Strikers and Defenders yeah....

Someone perhaps playing better than our wingers vs someone not playing better than our midfielders

In wingers we have Nani, Valencia, Young while Kagawa, Welbeck can do a job there.

In midfield we have Carrick, Cleverley and Anderson while Jones can do a job there.

* Assuming that Giggs, Scholes and Fletcher won't be here next season.

Don't need him now,i'm confident with the squad we have now ,we will win the PL.

Why would we want to be signing squad players when the first eleven can be improved?

Carrick has been our best CM and performed better than any of our wingers.

You're thinking that Zaha would immediately become part of the first eleven?

He's thinking that Zaha isn't an improvement on our current first 11 so I assume he's not happy with us signing Zaha.

Edit: scratch that, I don't think he's thinking that.
