Good luck in business to anyone who says that we should just disregard the gentleman agreement and keep him.

Carrick couldn't get near Barcelona's midfielders as you may recall. Wanyama, on the other hand, was glued to our midfielders

What are you trying to say? That he is better than Carrick because he could mark Barcelona's midfielders?

So defensively we have ; Rafael, Rio, Vida, Jones, Smalling, Evans, Buttner, Evra = 8 players for 4 places and no one batters and eye lid yet having 9/10 wingers / strikers and we must be selling.

Righto

Our defensive situation has been an absolute catastrophe injury-wise, to be fair. If we keep everyone this next season as well as Zaha, we're going to be needing a situation like that up front to keep everyone happy you'd think.

There was a lot of this sort of talk when we were after Hazard and Lucas in the summer, but there was also a fair bit of acknowledgement at the time that they could be the sort of players running that risk for. Don't know about Lucas (haven't seen any footage of him since then), but it is sort of annoying that we didn't get Hazard in retrospect given the form of our wingers and this signing. Zaha may well become a class act, but Hazard really looks to me like he possesses enormous talent. Not that he's been shitting all over opposition week in week out, but he looks a clear step up from even someone like Isco in my opinion.

He does kill children though, so maybe we dodged a bullet there.

I find it's often the signings fans consider underwhelming who turn out to be the better players.

Aston Villa at one point didn't want crappy Falcao who nobody had ever heard of, they wanted experienced Heskey.

Arsenal fans were baffled they wasted £11m on Juventus reject Thierry Henry.

Chelsea were mortified at the expensive signing of 'overrated' West Ham youngster Frank Lampard, who only got games because of his relation to Redknapp.

Some were left slightly underwhelmed at missing out on Ronaldinho and then getting a kid from Portugal called Ronaldo something.

For all we know Zaha will be a better player than Hazard in a few years. I trust our scouts and Fergie.

I have my doubts about him but like somebody said earlier in the thread David Beckham was on loan at Preston at the same age and we all know how that turned out. He's young and looks to have plenty of dribbling ability let's hope he develops into a top class player.

Hope so.

That Villa/Falcao thing is hilarious, I had no idea.

So were Welbeck and Cleverley.

Welbeck struggled there too.

Almost as bad as letting David Platt and Peter Beardsley go on frees.

Shit happens.

That still haunts me. Loved watching him play.

But yeah, at the time Villa thought Heskey (who was in good form at the time) was a much better bit of business than signing an unknown in Falcao. At the time it was very justified.

If you ignore all the facts and just look at it simply as "Aston Villa rejected Falcao for Heskey" it is quite funny. Shows how things can turn out. I'm confident Zaha will be considered a shrewd signing in 5 years time.

Deal agreed for Wilfried Zaha

Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Wilfried Zaha have reached an agreement for the player to join Manchester United in July 2013.

The player is having a medical in Manchester today (Friday 25 January).

There will be no further comment by any party until Wilfried joins United in July 2013.

On Palace's website as well:

Crystal Palace can today (Friday 25th January) confirm that we have agreed a fee for Wilfried Zaha with Manchester United. Wilfried has agreed personal terms and pending formalities we expect the transfer to be concluded early next week. Wilfried has been immediately loaned back to Crystal Palace for the remainder of the 2012/13 season.

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish said today: “I feel this a great deal for the club and the player. We would like to thank Wilf for all he has done for the club and we all wish him well when he joins Manchester United in the summer. It was essential to Wilf and ourselves that he stayed at Palace for the remainder of this season to help the club with its main aim of promotion to the Premier League.”

Wilfried Zaha said: “I am delighted to be joining Manchester United and ending the recent speculation. I would like to thank the owners at Palace for making the move possible, however my focus for the next five months will be solely at Crystal Palace. I have been at Palace for more than 10 years, I will always love the club and I want to help get them get back to the Premier League, particularly for the fans who have always been so good to me.”

I so wish you would have throw Carrick in there as well !!

Have to admit I've only really seen bits of his play via the football league show, and the match against us in the league cup. Signs of real potential, but inconsistent.

Luckily for him, and us, he's coming to a club that has a fantastic history in regards to helping players to realise their potential.

Nice - should make room to release Nani in the summer! Now time to swoop for Victor Wanyama!!!!! Imagine a 3 man midfield with:

--------Carrick------
Wanyama --- Cleverly

Would not be bad at all! As I see it, we wouldn't even need any summer spendings them! :)
