Wilfried Zaha

An Arsenal fan made a good point that when United bring youngsters in, they tend to settle fairly quickly. Zaha will definitely be a first team player for us next season, I don't think there will be any loaning out of him.

My problem is at this rate the following players will be trying to get into our front 4 next season:
Nani, Valencia, Young, Zaha, Welbeck, Rooney, Van Persie, Hernandez and Henriquez.

Someone's going to get frozen out.

Perhaps he's not going to play week in week out but he'll rack up plenty of appearances for sure.

Nani is going to leave, I'm pretty sure of that. One year left on his deal and he's been out of the team for most of the season, injury or not.

I would hasten to add that at least 2 of those need to start performing better

Plenty of game time for all players; Valencia will get some game time on the RB position. Henriquez may well be loaned out for half a season or so as he is only 18. I can only see RVP and Rooney as the more or less guaranteed startes, although I wish Nani could step up and be that too.

Neither Young or Valencia have been tearing up trees of late either, that's not to say they should make way.

Zaha will be introduced quite steadily I expect. On the pre season tour first then as a sub no doubt

Valencia won't be playing at right back again unless we have no other options.

Chances are Henriquez will go on loan next season. That's 8 players for 4 spots. 2 for each position. Pretty standard for a club of this size.

9 cause you forget Kagawa. I think that one could/should go cause 9 players for 4 positions are too much. But knowing that we can have 7493 injuries during the course of the season, maybe they all can play.

Ah indeed. That does seem overkill in that case.

It's safe to assume Van Persie, Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez, Kagawa and Young won't be going anywhere. I personally doubt fergie would give Valencia the #7 shirt and sell him the Summer after. All seems to point to Nani departing. Hope not though.

He's the one we would make any money on, at least recoup the 15m spent on Zaha

If we're selling him why wouldnt we do it now? Sir Alex has said otherwise

It could be as a result of injuries to Young or Valencia's drop in performance as well as missing out on Lucas and Hazard. I don't think there's a chance we'll let his contract get down to the last year which will be the case in the summer(nearly sure that's right) and the current negotiations seem to have completely stalled.

Guardian say he'll have a medical before the weekend. So tomorrow? Then he's going back on loan till the summer.

Can't we just change our mind on the loan once he's signed? He'll be our player, there surely can't be any enforcable contract stating 'you have to loan your player back to us or we will take action'? Yea it's a gentleman thing, but feck them. We paid big money for him, and we need him ourselves.

I would imagine it's written in to the contract, yes.

That would be morally wrong and clubs will not trust us so much in the future.

We can't be made to do it surely, if a player signs a 5 year deal with us we can do as we see fit. If all our players get injured, we could surely decide to change our minds. Would his contract with us then become invalid?I doubt it tbh.

Yea, I thought about that. This is the main issue, it's not the most classy thing to do. Was just curious on how possible it was legally.

Of course it would be a contractual obligation.

Loan deals are not gentlemanly agreements they are contracts.

John O'Shea should get some games in goal for Sunderland this season, an'all.

There would be either a contract where the loan is a set period of time with no release or a contract with a clause stating recall is possible. Palace will push for the former

You must be a treat as an audience at any comedy live show!

Didn't O'Shea already score a goal by the way?

Valencia isn't rubbish as a RB; he is so strong and fast that few players can get past him. I remember that one match where he played RB and Nani RW; they raped the opposition who I would imagine walked funnily on the way back home. Nevertheless, I prefer Rafael there with about 10 to 1, but Rafael needs rest and Jones looks more injured than not. Smalling isn't any better than Valencia as a RB, certainly not if you wish to attack. Fabio might be a better option for next season though.

During the course of a long season fighting for trophies in the league, the FA cup, the Champions League Cup and maybe even the Carling Cup will provide all players with game time. Ferguson has always rotated the squad and I believe he will continue to do so, Valencia at RB or not you laughing son of a... :D

That's not very Manchester United-esque. feck that, if we agree to loan him we loan him.

Remind me never to get into a business deal with yourself.:smirk:

So defensively we have ; Rafael, Rio, Vida, Jones, Smalling, Evans, Buttner, Evra = 8 players for 4 places and no one batters and eye lid yet having 9/10 wingers / strikers and we must be selling.

Righto

You're trying to be smart but it's very different scenarios.

Also, if all 5 of our CB's hadn't been so injury ravaged in 2012 then it would have been a much bigger problem than it actually has been.

If we are paying that much for him we might as well keep him and tell Palace to feck off but then he is going to be making progress playing for them over the next six months.

But there can't be a loan contract until there is first a contract which makes Zaha a United player. At which stage we can move the goalposts Daniel Levy style. Not thatt we should of course
