What will it take to sack moyes?

I think it would be a mistake to wait until Xmas to see where we are next season, it would be very, very, difficult to find a replacement at the level we need in the Winter (Klopp/Simeone) than this summer. I think we should cut our losses at the end of the season, I don't see we have anything to lose by sacking him then and very little, if anything, to gain by waiting until the Winter.

So, do the Moyes songs stop for a second time this season, do we reckon?

It'll be the '20 times' song on autoloop from now until the end of the season. Moyes will be quick to use that as indication of the fans being behind him. We'll beat some poor ailing team in the league and the Moyes songs will come back only for them to disappear again when Everton beat us.

This season :wenger:

EDIT: Didn't realise we had Everton next.

A missed opportunity, men. We can only dream what you pair could have achieved.
I wouldn't have signed Fellaini and would have asked for less money than Moyes, and I really think better results.

Glazers should really regret not contacting me.

Everton's our next match, which really could be very influential over Moyes' future. Win or lose, big result either way. Probably be a draw then.

Our next game is Everton away, where I don't really expect a positive result. After that though, we have 3 home games in a row, vs Norwich, Sunderland and Hull, which should be ample opportunity for Moyes to turn yet another corner.

Oh dang you're right as well. Certainly makes it more interesting.

If Kloop or Simeone(?) and to a lesser extent Pochettino(?) or Martinez(?) are availble, United should not keep Moyes. Those managers are still young and they can provide stability with an efficient philosophy for years to come.

I am not a fan of Moyes conservative approach or spinless leadership. In terms of tactics, I want to see United play toe to toe against the top teams without us having to result to hoofball or 9-0-2 tactics. While as a manager, I would like to see Moyes drop Rooney, Carrick, Van Persie, etcs., when they are not performing well. Moreover, be more assertive in his conference and attitude on the pitch.

You look for progress and the last month has been progress. Mata and Kagawa prominent, goals, clean sheets. I'm far from certain about Moyes myself but that's not really a fair way to judge where we are at the moment.

The last month has been progress?

0-3 Liverpool
3-0 Olympiacos (who sold their best player to fecking Fulham)
2-0 West Ham (Bottom Half of the table)
0-3 City
4-1 Aston Villa (Bottom Half of the table)
1-1 Bayern (A home draw that was celebrated like an enormous victory by the press)
4-0 Newcastle (Half their side out injured)
3-1 Bayern

I'm convinced that if the club persists with him, he'd make 5th and call it progress next season.

He thought winning the charity shield was a big deal.

Remember when we laughed at Arsenal celebrating getting into the top four? that's nothing really, David Moyes would be doing the macarena if we qualified.
 :(

I dunno to laugh or to cry when I imagine his reactions if he makes top 4 next season, probably a run down the touchline like Mourinho at OT all those years ago...

Exactly...

Some people keep talking about this game as a step forward and moving towards a Champions League spot but where were we this time last season? We've "progressed" and we're still 6 positions below where we were last season!

The sad thing is it actually has been an improvement of sorts, but only because of the horrendous month that came before it. Which tells you everything you need to know about the season we have had.

The sad thing is that the improvement in out play had been forced by the media mocking his insistance to play Valencia and Young so much, followed by Van Persie's injury which saw Mata come central and Welbeck used wide.

None of the tactical improvements have been "masterminded" more stumbled upon or forced.

I hope I wake up tomorrow to the breaking news of him being sacked!

You might be right i don't know if its down to moyes or not.

Whats is worrying though if moyes has come to the conclusion that Mata,Kagawa,Rooney = good football all by himself, why did it take him so fecking long.

Well we are offiicially out of everything now, decision time for the board, is he the man to conintue on the success of Manchester United? Just a thought but strange how he is a self confessed bundesliga fanatic and we put in a creditable effort against the best team in Europe and scored 9 against leverkusen, but can't beat the likes of southampton, newcastle, west brom, everton, stoke or cardiff, you would think he would know the PL better, just a thought.

When was the last time our season was completely over with nothing to play for in early April? 1989?

2-0 West Ham (Bottom Half of the table)

To be fair, derby aside, that list of results and performances reads as either us thrashing a team or giving a good account of ourselves against the best in Europe.

Still on the whole season and the fact he didn't deserve the job in the first place, it's probably best we make a change. If we win every game til the end of the season in a similar fashion to our recent league form with Kagawa and Mata playing good stuff, I think that may swing it in his favour with the board convinced he's finding his feet.

What I would say is we're already in this situation now, we'd gain nothing by sacking him as punishment for a poor season. It'd have to be because it's clear he's not going to take us forward to the extent an alternative manager could do.

If Klopp or Simeone are available and we pass on them like we did Mourinho then I'm at a loss for words to describe that kind of thinking.
