What if Liverpool win the league this year?

Will be interesting to see what happens when Mane is off in January. I don't think they have anyone in their squad that can replace him.

Free agent soon. Dream scenario is Klopp bringing him back just so he can get that elusive medal and another slip type incident occurs.
It has to be different feat every time though. I vote for Hollywood fart that deviates the ball away from it's expected trajectory of heading toward goal.

I'd have to buy a new t-shirt from Barney at Rednews.

Current one still reads "United 20, Mickeys 18"

We've got about 400 members on here who are Liverpool fans (230 filled out the 'Supports' thing, while there are plenty who haven't), so things will be interesting if they do.

Maybe change the wording on the login page from Sign On to Sign Up.
We would probably get less.

I don't think even Liverpool supporters in their heart of hearts believe this.

It's a strange one.
All my experience and senses tell me that we won't. However I do believe that 'one day' we will. With that in mind why not this season.

I'd be gutted if we don't get top 4 though now.

They will be presented with the trophy? They have to win sometime. It's too ambitious to think they will disintegrate as a club and peter away into nothingness.

The more important question (and probably the one you are trying to ask) is how will United supporters take the gloating of scousers? They will rub it in our faces and we would have deserved it in a way like how they deserved it when we won number 19. Life will move on as soon as the next season starts and they lose to Crystal Palace.

It would be better, if they did it in a year there's a WC or the Euros so that we won't have to spend the whole summer reading about "the best champions ever" and stuff like that.

I remember one of my father's friends, who's a Liverpool fan, saying back in the day that he actually felt some kind of relief when we won it back in 1993. United looked like a team that would eventually win the title, it was more a matter of when than it was a matter of if. Plus the magnitude of the club combined with the incredibly long drought period it had gone through meant that the reactions from United fans and the all the media coverage would be unbearable for any Liverpool fan. So, from his pov, it was better to "get over with it". Of course, he couldn't predict what would follow...

Right now, i kinda feel the same. They look like they will be in the mix for the title under Klopp, they expanded their stadium and they generally look healthy and that they're going places. If it's going to happen it better happen in the next couple of seasons than later. After all, it's quite difficult for the modern day PL to know a new dynasty like the ones Liverpool and United enjoyed. Right? :nervous:

I don't believe they will, City , Arsenal and Chelsea have too much quality and maybe ,just maybe Jose will turn us around and start racking up wins.
However I do believe they have the manager to win it and that he will get the best out of them. They have hit 30league goals already which is impressive.

I think Chelsea are the dark horse this year and they've got players with a stronger mentality who can see the grind through. The only thing we can do is try and steal 3 points off LFC in our next game instead of 2. Liverpool's squad isn't very big and 2-3 injuries will see them start dropping points, they'll also lose Mane during the ACN who has been good for them. I think they're going to secure a champion's league spot but Klopp's style of management and play has me believing they'll burnt out before the finish line.

The forum should be closed down until we win it next, or else the meltdown would be unbearable....

I'm not one for being too dramatic but I might have to kill myself.

Sadly the team that some the league deserves it ... Hopefully Chelsea will win it and not city or pool even if that will look bad for Jose ...

We will see how pool cope without mane in Jan

I just can't see it happening. There seem to be too many contenders right now for them to win it. City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and I still believe we have a shot at it.

Klopp has strongly hinted that he'll be looking to strengthen in the January window so I wouldn't be surprised if he already has someone lined up. Failing that, Sturridge is more than capable. We have actually won quite a few matches on the back of his performances. People tend to forget that. He might not put in the shift that Mane does, but the lad certainly knows where the back of the net is.

We might as well live :(

World War 3 and the destruction of the human race would be preferable. To that end, we should all be praying for a Trump victory.

True but this is a diiferent team with a different manager and a different mentality .
Doesn't matter what team they have. They haven't won the league in 26 years. They've had a lot of world class players come and go during that time period... Torres, Suarez, Alonso, Mascherano, Gerrard, Reina, Owen... none of them could win the league. I doubt this current crop will do it when those guys couldn't.

I think the club is just cursed to be honest.

Slightly off topic I kno

I remember another 'cursed' club that had all sorts of top players. They didn't win the league for a very long time. Then a young dynamic manager came along and changed it all.

Can't place their name thought...but I'm pretty sure that happened.

I'll let you know if I put my finger on it.

That was 30 years ago. Klopp won't be given the time if results don't start going his way. Fans will get impatient, especially if the likes of Coutinho leave the club.

Look at Rodgers. He challenged for the title and would have won it if it wasn't for Gerrard... and then he got sacked the year after. Who's to say Rodgers wasn't "that guy" and your club just didn't give him time to turn it around and challenge again? A lot of this Liverpool team are Rodgers buys. He probably would have bought Mane aswell.

firstly 'results don't start going his way' couldn't agree more because that's not happening at the moment.

2. Rodgers is a good manager for my money. Bit above his station but a good coach. What happened that year was down to an absolute perfect storm. Suarez in that form is probably the best player we've ever had and dragged us to 2nd. This is different..personally I don't think we will win it but we could

3 I agree he would of bought mane. As I've mentioned in other posts the money you have spent on Pogba and zlatans wages make that look like fantastic business.

Let's just see. I know that I'm enjoying the football. The manager is a laugh and I don't feel like it's being done after spending stupid money. Just feels good.

You spent as much as us over the years. It's not like you're working with academy lads.

Celebrating Mane for 35m is like us saying "LOL they spent 35m on Mane when we got Rashford for nothing!" - Doesn't really make sense or is relevant. Pretty sure Liverpool fans would love to see them break transfer records and bring in big stars.

Not that I care what Pogba cost anyway. I'm just glad he's back. Being one of our own and all that.

Rodgers went completely loopy, signed Balotelli and Lambert and completely sacrificed the style of football that had gotten the team so far in 13/14.

Not sure he sacrificed it. I'd say he simply wasn't able to play it anymore with the players you mentioned. We had to resort to Sterling up top to fix it for a while, then it all fell apart. I don't think there's any doubt we're in a much better place now than where we would be if Rodgers was still in charge. He looked like a man who had run out of ideas towards the end.

By signing those two players I'd say he did sacrifice it. Add in Benteke and that's three target men he signed.

He was a decent manager but held nowhere near the pedigree that Klopp does.

One moment that signified Rodgers was not the man for the job was when he effectively bent over and spread our arsehole wide open for Real Madrid. That really was a huge low point.

Chelsea - Mourinho

No need to thank me, I'm glad to help! :D:cool::wenger:

I think it's going to happen. It's different than 13/14. That was one of those " if we don't win it now,we never will seasons". We were a one man team but Suarez was gonna go at some point and Gerrard was finishing it up. That one hurt not winning. This one won't as much simply because I believe that Klopp is the real deal. There are no real big big stars. If a player leaves, another one will be found to fit in.
It really is amazing how he has this team playing. I wonder how he would have fit in with a big spending club like united, City, or Chelsea? Not sure how that would have worked out. I think he wants system players above all. It really is the perfect place for him at Liverpool. Anyway , I just think he's going to get it done this year.

He would have been money with us. We have a excellent core of young players that Klopp needs in his system. In Shaw, Martial, Rashford, CBJ, Januzaj, Pereira, Tofu - Klopp would have acquired a really talented bunch of youngsters to hone. In Schneridelin, Blind, Herrera - he would have had a midfield that could press and win the ball back as he likes. De Gea, Smalling and Valencia would have formed the core of his defensive set-up. He would have added a mixture of 4-5 young and experienced players to the squad and would have us running.

The ability to spend big is not a prerequisite at United, it is a more of a necessity with the managers we have hired.
