What if Liverpool win the league this year?

If we do win it I will be too drunk to type so doubt I will show myself up on here.

Anyway it's far too early, at the moment it is just a dream and we are enjoying the way we are playing.

Interesting that Liverpool fans, at least the one whose posts I've seen, are careful about it and many United fans are convinced its their year.
Personally I'd avoid this place and all media for while and if I was a mod I'd ban anyone who would create a thread about it. :)

Cant believe there are 400 of them here. Way too much!

After the initial 3 month fit of despair, I will probably allow myself a wry chuckle that it happened just after Gerrard left.

I bet they get him back on loan, bring him on for the last 10 minutes in a few games and apply for a medal by special dispensation. If the FA have any sense of humour they should deny it out of loyalty to their purple nosed overlord.

I dont think they have the defence to win the league

And they lose their stand out back line player in Matip to the AFCON at the time they go to OT, Etihad - sure there's goals galore in them - but the same applies at the back! Lets hope Manchester becomes a graveyard for them after Xmas.

We've got about 400 members on here who are Liverpool fans (230 filled out the 'Supports' thing, while there are plenty who haven't), so things will be interesting if they do.

I already notice far too many of them on here as it is. They're everywhere. When they win it they'll be relieving each other in every thread!

They wont win it. But they won't be too far away though if they continue this form. Of course though like any team they are only a couple of injuries away from it all spiralling so I think talk of them winning the league is a bit premature, especially given that the squad players they have are very average. They are certainly making strides in the right direction though and I have no doubt Klopp will strengthen their squad over the next year, so they will be up there for some time I reckon.

There are no guarantees in life save one, the dippers boom-bust cycle.

Can't be bothered.

But on a brighter note, if they win it at least it wasn't during Fergie's reign, that would have been more awful.

Then they have deserved it. They look like they know what they are doing, animosity aside!

The big benefit of the last summer window was Klopp sold or released many players surplus to his requirements. Future windows should be much more stable without the need for major changes. Not saying January will be a good window as it's hard to get players in but in the long term we should be able to strengthen.

Yeah i'm thinking it will probably be next Summer when he will have chance to get more of the players in that he wants and again can release a few that probably aren't good enough. Where do you stand on Sturridge out of curiosity? My Liverpool supporting friends all seem to be mixed on whether they would want him as a starter next season and going forward.

I will stay away from the Internet for 3 months or longer than that.

I can't stand the thought of them winning it regardless, but I sort of agree with you that it would have been a whole lot worse if they did it when Fergie was around.

If they win it, I'll take very small consolation in the fact that they at least waited until after Gerrard had left before doing so. They probably won't win though. Chelsea look the team to beat for me now. They also have no European football to worry about and look far stronger at the back.

I think Firmino is rightly first choice at the moment, he is scoring goals, has creativity, links the play up with others and works hard for the team.
Sturridge is still a top player, but Firmino's all round attributes suits Klopp's formation better.

I also think Sturridge has just lost that edge and confidence, he doesn't quite have that sharpness about his play - one moment yesterday the ball was loose and he should have been odds on to get to it first but a Watford player beat him to it - cue a few groans from the crowd.
Next minute he smashed a glorious 20 yard shot against the bar.

It isn't quite happening for him, and he probably needs regular games to be at his best - but rightly so he is behind in the pecking order.

With Ings injured and Mane at the ACON he is still a very important player for us though.

Matip has said heis not going mate .

In response the OP, Jamie Carragher will make sure Gary Neville hears all about it.

True but this is a diiferent team with a different manager and a different mentality .

Every year Liverpool have a different team with a different mentality, yet always manage to fall at the final hurdle. This year will be no different mate. Bare in mind that this insane pressing game you play week in week out will be very difficult to sustain for an entire season. Injuries will occur more and more regular as the campaign progresses, and as far as i can tell you don;t have a big enough squad to cope.

I'd be shocked if Liverpool pulled it off this season.

Mate. It's definitely something Liverpool fans are thinking of. It doesn't of course mean we are favourites (City are) or that I think we'll win it (I think Chelsea will) but with the wonderfully entertaining way we are playing, sitting top of the league, and with our relatively unchallenging schedule from now until the City game (at which time I believe we may well be still top) of course Liverpool fans are dreaming of that long overdue title.
Nothing overdue about it

I've seen a few Pool games this season, and from what I observed their actual strength draws from a very organized possession game, and individual quality, rather than a focus on high intensity pressing.
The average distance covered by them is at around 115km per game iirc, which isn't that much. To put it into perspective, Hoffenheim ran 123km on this weekends game at Bayern.
Not saying Liverpool has the title bagged, but the idea of them losing it due to inevitable physical exhaustion isn't something I'd buy into. With no european business I see no reason why they couldn't sustain their approach over the course of a full season.

I highly doubt they're going to win the title. Their defence is nowhere near title winning standard and that will catch up with them. They seem like a classic erratic team that might tear a top side apart one week and limp to a home loss against relegation fodder the next. All the other title challengers seem much more consistent.

That being said, I think they'll definitely finish above Utd :nervous:

Just hope nobody creates a congratulations thread like someone did when City beat Barcelona.
Seriously, though, why on earth do we have so many Liverpool fans here these days?

Burnley loss aside if anything we have been as consistent as anyone this season.

If they win, it would be deserved. I really hope they don't and we can continue laughing at them while crying over our team. But they are turning more and more in to the old United and we are far far away from that team.

That is far too logical for many on here. Some are desperately holding on to the belief we'll burn out and that has now become their default position when questioned on Liverpool, despite the facts being they'll probably cover less distance than players at City/United/Spurs and Arsenal due to a lack of European games.
