What if Liverpool win the league this year?

It's another big chance for them. Much the same as Brendan had in 14'.

Three of their main rivals on paper have new managers implementing new ideas and new players.

I still believe they're going to struggle after Christmas when the games have come thick and fast and fatigue sets in. They just don't have the quality in depth yet.

Silly post.

What games are coming thick and fast for us after Chrimbo ?

The FA cup starts and the other cup will be at the semi final stage in January I think .

@Mourinhonista your Sturridge analysis is odd and absurdly one-eyed. You declare Memphis as potential because he's scored for Holland yet you decide to dismiss Sturridge despite a very good goal in his most recent international. Equally, you're apparently bought into the idea of a resurgent Fabregas if he was given the chance, yet Sturridge is seemingly a lost cause. You top it all off with a comment about Sturridge's antics. What antics? Genuinely, he's looked frustrated at being a sub but if his last sub appearance has anything to go by he's still very much bought into working hard and winning back his place.

You're writing an awful lot to basically pontificate as to why you're "not convinced" by Liverpool. Talking at length with the subtext being: please, please Liverpool, don't win the bloody league!!

Spot on! I enjoy reading his comments actually. Makes me realise they are a little concerned.

Enjoying it at the min, long may it continue.

Even the "rawk goes into meltdown" thread has turned into a serious conversation.

I said "have come thick and fast" as in the Christmas period could take its toll.

I said this a while ago:

You're missing the point, it doesn't matter what the opposition do, your advantage is the intensity in your play and the energy you press with. A month off to re-energise for the run in is a huge help. Replacing that break with an even thicker list of fixtures than normal and fatigue and injuries could seriously hinder your advantage.

You have a game on the 14th, 17th, 26th, 31st, 2nd, 14th and 23rd + a likely league cup and FA Cup match. The players then have an international break to deal with.

I really question whether that squad can cope with those games and keep up the style of play.

I hope Coutinho and Firmino make it through the Peru game tomorrow. I'm not sure how we'd cope without them and Lallana might be out as well.

It's a shame that only Liverpool have a busy December and that all the other sides can win without running loads. Unfair.

I love seeing Scousers get their hopes up.

Is that it? Come on, you usually got loads more to say.

Yeah that's a worry. Searching twitter for news on lallana but nothing yet.

To be fair the game just finished, he'll need a medical examination. Immediate news is unlikely.

He was just sat watching the game so possibly just a mild strain and a precautionary substitution. If you've done your groin you're not walking off the pitch.

You've be doing far more running than anyone else up to now. Gengen press or whatever you call it. It's a very effective weapon for you, I'm just not convinced you have the squad to maintain it all season. If you can find another way to win when fatigue has set in you'll be right up there.

Got carried away, sorry. I understand that i was too harsh with Studge, unfair in comparison with my examples.

You got my sentiment spot on, though. :D

Hope so because he's become majority important for us. I'm hoping the word "precautionary" is used..lot's

It's not cool to say, "yids" when it is directed at Tottenham. It makes the user sound anti semitic when I doubt he intended that.

Sorry man, honnestly didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up, won't happen ever again!

He's just walked past a load of reporters and given a thumbs up so he seems to think he's fine.

Think you will find the average running is around one k

Maybe minor..

Leicester won the league with a worse squad. Liverpool look on a similar track of having their first choice line up available every week which makes a big difference compared to the likes of us.

Jaybomb has had a crick in his neck all week.

Lallana and Henderson injuries not going down too well. Why the hell weren't Drinkwater (or equivalent) and Walcott playing this game from the start? Another stupid England manager. No matter who you put in that role he's always going to turn out to be an idiot.

Be annoying if he misses saturday because of playing for England, but players want to play for their country.
We will get injuries at some point, and we need to prove we have a squad to cope. Hopefully Firmino and Coutinho come back okay and are fresh enough to play.

The likes of Origi, Sturridge, Wijnaldum, Grujic and Stewart are more than capable of starting the game if needed.

I do think Klopp maybe needs to look at getting another pacey wide attacker in though if he can in January.

I find it hilarious that the Scouse fans on my Facebook all posting league tables around November time have suddenly gone silent.

Being honest, I don't see anyone but Chelsea winning the title this season, if not them, then Spurs are probably the second best team in the PL just now.

Liverpool (and Arsenal) have had chances these last few years to grab it, given our own woes, and the likes of Chelsea and City havent been anywhere near as dominant. Jose and Pep will get it right at some point, at which point i cant see a way back for them into title challenges; they're an average team working hard, not an elite outfit, which is clearly where Utd, City and Chelsea are aiming.

Well, I was called all sorts of things (by both Liverpool and UTD fans) when I made the following assertions in early January -

1) Liverpool's defence is shambolic and a joke

2) Liverpool's playing style would cause their players to tire out, and Klopp has no Plan B

3) Liverpool's overall squad quality is weak, they were punching above their weight, and they were going to finish lower than UTD this season

4) there is no way that Liverpool are title contenders and in fact they would not even finish in the top four

I hate to say "I told you so" but well, I told you so!

Klopp was vastly over rated as a manager and the Liverpool squad were vastly over rated as well. The "Gegen Pressing" tactic was certain to get found out, and more than that, it would self destruct because their own players would tire out EVEN though they have no European games. Can you imagine if they did have European games? They would be doing even worse. They do not have the squad depth to be able to rotate players, and their playing style was always going to leave them exhausted and fatigued.

I think that's ONE game they have won in 2017, how embarrassing. To think that people were crowning Liverpool was champions-elect in November / December and Klopp himself was buying into the hype. The Liverpool of today is a nothing club, they aren't challenging for shit, no title, no cups, eliminated from the league cup by Southampton, even top four is looking out of reach now. They are a club on the decline (if that were even possible.. they have been in decline for years but are declining even more lol) and the momentum is totally against them.

Liverpool's level is not far above Everton's level, and certainly nowhere near the other top teams.

In the meantime, we have already won a trophy, we are poised to win the FA Cup and Europa League, we havent lost a game in ages, we are looking very hard to beat even when we don't play well, and we are playing better and better. Those idiots giving us stick for being in sixth place, well I wonder who is laughing now???

Jose who they thought was past it has already won more than Klopp in far less time, and he is poised to win 2 more trophies while Klopp has surely got to be fearing for his job if he ends the season with nothing, no top four, no trophies, despite all that early bluster!

Excellent Post mate, but lets not presume us winning anything else.. there's a lot of football to be played.

Need 3 points against Bournemouth first, to capitalise on a Liverpool Arsenal draw...

I hate to say "I told you so" but well, I told you so!.

I think most sensible United fans would have agreed with this and thought as much themselves. There is the weird Klopp cult on here that probably thought otherwise but that's expected.
