Westminster Politics

In any functioning society this man would be sat outside a town co-op handing out flyers about his talk on the new world order and lizard people, at a cordoned off section of a sports hall with about 7 people in attendance.

This is just heartbreaking, down with those evil human right charities.

I know wishing terrible suffering on someone is not allowed on the Caf, and rightly so, so I won't wish it on Lee Anderson MP.

30p Lee using taxpayer money to go to Calais to dab on to migrants living in terrible conditions is exactly what I needed this morning to get mad.

It's so terribly sad that this shite is so popular with a huge number of voters, I'm not even angry any more, just utterly demoralised.

The press is such a powerful weapon because a large section of the public just don’t have the faculties to think critically.

then the UK is a lost cause.

A lot of people in various parts of the country, in particular outside the big cities, have thought this for a long, long time, (even before Brexit)... that's why we have a Tory party that sees itself as the party of Government, it knows how to 'duck n' dive', and how to rally people to any cause, no matter how hopeless it turns out to be... Brexit a good example.

The left in general, but the Labour party in particular has let ordinary people down, almost continually from the post war (mid-1950's) onward because it refuses to recognise the political truth and what it has to do to gain power. The international socialist ideals of the left have been continually burnished bright by successive Labour leaderships but have cut no ice with the public... hope and pray Starmer can do better.

The Tories have managed to convince the people you mention that it's someone else who is responsible for their problems despite it was them who were in government for most of that time and even managed to get them to vote for them yet again. With the aid of the media they control what many people think. Numerous posters have mentioned the lack of criticial thinking in the electorate. It's by design.

Personally, I believe the whole system needs a complete change but it won't happen.

Tories will continue to lie and use the media to their advantage. Labour has to battle the media and now either Starmer is joining in the lies or he's really as wet behind the ears as he appears to be. The cycle continues.

Let's just be boring and accept that premise of what they need to do to gain power. What do they need to do to retain power and win consecutive elections to become the natural party of government? Is it the same answer?

He is an absolute fool. His points are ridiculous. It's not the "sins of his father" that destabilised the middle east and Libya for example, which has massively contributed to the current situation, It is his generation!

Regardless, the fact he can see the conditions there and only think "well some of these folk are using OUR hotels in the UK" shows what little understanding he and his party have of the situation. Not to mention the fact there are women in the background of his video and he says he has only seen men.

It’s because of daft cnuts like that caller that we’re in this mess in the first place. Some people are simply a lost cause.

Yeah there's no point trying to win the votes of such people. Whatever the reality and whatever political positioning Labour put in place they'll never shift their thinking. They'll buy every lie as long as it fits into their world view.

I have done this before, but worthwhile re-posting his biography....

Anderson was elected as a Labour councillor in the 2015 Ashfield District Council election.

He was suspended in February 2018 by the local branch of the Labour Party after receiving a community protection warning by the council for using boulders to block members of the Traveller community from "setting up camp at a site in the area".

The following month, Anderson defected to the Conservative Party.

Anderson was elected as the MP for Ashfield at the 2019 general election with a majority of 5,733. The seat had previously been represented by Labour's Gloria De Piero, who stood down at that election. He had previously worked as her office manager for five years.

Anderson announced via social media in June 2021 that he would not watch any England national football team matches during the Euro 2020 tournament in protest at the players' decision to take the knee (a symbolic gesture against racism) before matches. He stated his opposition was because he felt that the action risked "alienating traditional supporters" and it supported Black Lives Matter, which in his opinion was a "political movement whose core principles aim to undermine our very way of life".

The same month, in a debate on the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, Anderson accused the Traveller community in Ashfield of thievery, stating, "...the Gypsy encampments that we are talking about in places such as Ashfield are not the traditional, old-fashioned Gypsies sat there playing the mandolin, flogging lucky heather and telling fortunes. The Travellers I am talking about are more likely to be seen leaving your garden shed at 3 o'clock in the morning, probably with your lawnmower and half of your tools. That happens every single time they come to Ashfield".

In May 2022, Anderson was criticised by opposition politicians and the food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe for suggesting in parliament that there was not "massive use for food banks" in the UK, and what use there was related to a lack of teaching on budgeting and cooking. Anderson invited opposition MPs to visit a food bank in his constituency, where he said that meals could be made for 30p a day, and which also provided a teaching course to its users.

The Immigration Act 2014, which Labour did not oppose as you said, also allowed for the Government to make people stateless in certain conditions. Around 100 British citizens a year have their citizenship taken away, and that in itself is underpinned by a fundamentally racist legal structure.
Cheers should have added that. A lot of people have completely blocked out how awful the early 2010’s politics really were in the UK and have decided everything wrong now starts with Brexit.

You can shit on Labour and Starmer all you want, rightly so for many reasons.

But pretending they're the same as the current tory party is many steps beyond reasonable.

Starmer might be a tory in disguise, but Rayner and Cooper are not Cruella, Reeves is definitely not as shady as Zahawi or Sunak, and even Streeting is not as bad as Hancock, and the list can go on for a while. Perhaps they're not the best government in the world, but they're easily a great improvement to what we currently have.

They’re not even vaguely comparable as parties.

Starmer isn’t the leader I want. But we didn’t get Johnson without May and we didn’t get her without Cameron.

The idea that the pendulum will swing all the way to Corbyn, from here, is just a childish fantasy. People in this country are Fcuking idiots. They will vote against their own best interests.

Unless you’ve managed to convince every single member of your family to vote for Labour, suggesting that Starmer doesn’t have to curry favour with these dickheads with Tory-adjacent policies, is stupid. Some of my working class family will vote Tory forever, simply based on right to buy and rampant house prices, benefiting them. No telling them.

The road to a more socialist government is decades long. People should grow up and vote ‘better’ and not throw their toys out of the pram if they can’t get ‘perfect’.

Starmer is trying to be the first elected PM without Rupert Murdochs backing in what, 40 years?

It’s all well and good staying home and Labour winning. But… why? Crush the Tory cnuts. Just vote against them. Have the election numbers look so monumental that they stop existing. Don’t dilute the result and make things look survivable.

Vote them in by the largest landslide in history. Then ask for more. That’s how you cut defence spending, invest shitloads in art, use nationwide GDP to fund a nationwide transport network. Because you know what? I’d quite like to move to Bristol or Manchester. But my parents are 65+ and I can’t leave London if it takes me a whole weekend to go and check in on them. Professional social mobility is a feature of most countries. We don’t have it. I can’t afford to live in London on a good wage, but I sure as feck can’t afford to leave.

This is not at you at all. I agree with you. But people that insist on staying home, are cnut’s. Enablers. They’re the parent that won’t stop their kid getting beaten up as it’ll be ‘Character building’. It won’t be. Nobody wins in that scenario, other than the bully.

Great Post. Absolutely agree.
