Westminster Politics

A rational thinker you say? The same rational thinker that boasted about moving money out of deprived urban areas and giving it to well off constituencies when he was chancellor? The same rational thinker that wrote off billions of pounds in fraudulent contracts when he was chancellor?

He's not a fresh pair of hands i'm afraid, he's part of the problem.

Hes certainly more rational than most, look at the alternatives.

Yeah its so frustrating. But im not surprised. This country as a whole is generally Tory voting (if you take out London).
The rest of the country (well 90%) just seem to vote in pattern no matter what is said, or done (or not done).

Load of bollocks that is lol! Since when was London the home to labour?

Hardly any of the London seats are swing seats either so that suggests they're amongst the least likely to change voting patterns no matter what is said or done. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2019-50349111

@VP89 is this rational?

Im talking rational in the sense of the economy, but no I dont endorse Braverman. I dont know if there are other factors driving it though.

She has a lot of ultra rights on her side, part of the party that didnt back Rishi. This might be a political move more than anything else.

He can’t do that as surely he needs to promote immigration to boost the workforce and the economy. Wouldn’t this just repeat Truss’s issue with her?
He’s a hard brexiteer. He’s no doubt very anti-immigration.

Extending London as the worlds first Blade Runner Mega City, all the way to Manchester is the only way we can get progressive reform imo.

Haha what did he say

Basically said Sunak is not a socialist (which he claimed in July) and bigged him up a bit. And would be more than happy to stay in the cabinet if offered the chance

This country.

I guess we have loads of bizarre archaic laws no-one ever got round to repealing. It's well known Catholics are banned from some things, but didn't realise Jews are too.

Who said they are home to labour?

Austerity is inevitable even if you had an optimistic krusty the clown.

To be frank I want a rational thinker on the economy ahead of anyone charismatic.

Austerity is obviously not inevitable, it's defunct and proven to be absolute nonsense. It's aim is political not economic.

He seems to be getting a hell of a clean slate for some reason.

Highly representative of the country.

Going to Oxford is a signifier of high academic achievement, whatever else it might be indicative of.

The point would’ve been more relevant if it highlighted those who attended private schools instead.(which may return the same result mind you )

It's ironic as the UK would still be a Catholic country, were it not for the lasciviousness of Henry VIII. The CofE was simply made-up to suit his personal situation.

Well at least JRM is no longer Business Secretary. That will allow him to go to the back benches and spend all his time sh1t stirring and dreaming of Boris getting back into power. Odious git.

On balance I suppose forming your own church is probably better than to continue chopping off the heads of your wives and becoming known as a serial killer King!!
*Although doubt if Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard (founding members of the 'Me too' movement) would agree.

UK in profound economic crisis. Sounds pretty ominous and get ready for spending cuts coupled with certain tax rises.

Nothing solves a cost of living crisis like taking billions out of the economy. What could go wrong?

True in itself, but it's impossible to say whether a later king or parliament would have objected to papal influence, or the country be influenced by the same beliefs that drove protestantism in countries other than the UK. I've no axe to grind incidentally, I'm an atheist anyway.

I do find it interesting when I go round the rural backwaters of Lancashire, the sheer number of different denominations one sees on chapels and churches and meeting rooms, the place must have been an absolute furore of religious discussion, disagreement and schism in years gone by. Other parts of the country too I daresay.

Well when you say the whole country is tory voting (bar london) and when the main opposition is Labour. To me that would suggest you were implying that Labour get all their seats from London while the rest of the country votes Tory.

In reality the majority of those who vote Tory have always been in the South of England. Historically the North has always been more left leaning with the south right leaning. A middle class person in the north is more likely to vote labour while a working class person in the south will still vote Tory.

It makes sense for Londoners to vote Labour too given their dependency on public services. On average £3.5k a year is spent per head in London on transport while areas like the North East get £500 per head.

Continuing? Anne Boleyn was the woman he did it for and the first wife to be beheaded.

I hate the term levelling up but if it is to mean anything at all it should mean reversing the likes of that, anything less and they can feck off.

Yep, the grown ups are back alright

There is no way in fecking hell this will be a united cabinet! Rishi is proving already to be a bit of an idiot before he's even started.

it's a joke the amount of money which gets pumped into London so it is. Not only do they have the highest salaries and the most valuable assets, they get the most public spending too. £19k per head it was last year.

And I know both Scotland and Northern Irelands are quite high too (but lower than London). But lets not forget that, that spending in those countries, is covering a much greater area of land than London which is going to greatly add to the expenses.

Same cnuts, different leader. We need a General Election.
