Why would he agree to that????

Sorry suffering from a bit of man flu today. I meant more we will come to an agreement. He will definetely move on. Maybe we will cancel his contract in agreement for agreeing to waver a transfer fee. Who knows. I think the US will be his destination.

Nobody, aside from China, will pay a transfer fee.

Its a case of how much it will cost us, not how much we will make.

What sort of man would forgone 300k/week? Why would he do that? He doesn't want football, he wants big salary.

Wayne was always a player that needed time after a spell off. Now that he's out of the team and always benched, he has absolutely no impact when he comes in. He's not the attribute to change a game anymore.

When he came in against WBA, it was sad but he was so slow, he just ran on the pitch and didn't tried anything like he knew that's off this summer and he surrenders.

I would like him to wake up, show his passion again, even if he's poor or average, at least he can still make some great pass, good run on the box, but I feel he's mentaly down

This is real life sadly, thay kind of resurrection only happens in Disney sports movie.

In real life you're finished means you're finished.

He's had like 3 years to pick himself up, it's not like the rot is just starting.

I know that we just have to remember how poor he was with LVG.

But I just want him to show more on the pitch, he's not running enough, not doing the basics for a footballer.

I hope that tonight he can play his part (Lingard, Martial and Rashford were so poor that's we have to give him a game)

I dont agree with that, at this stage. Perhaps in the past his motivation was $$$ however the wheels have turned now. He has fallen right out of favour and he will want one last bash at the World Cup next year.

Has he though or was that just a myth trotted out to protect him?

He showed nothing on Saturday to suggest he deserves to start tonight even given how the others played. Players are playing badly and he's not looking any better, it doesn't exactly scream "Pick me!" We know he offers nothing at this point.

Since Mourinho clearly criticized his front 4 I don't really think that he'll field the same players, Rashford and Martial especially for me. Both are fresh and didn't played much so I really think that since we don't have much choice now Mata is injured, we'll field Roo tonight.

Unless Mourinho tries a 3-4-3 again and play Mkhitaryan and Ibra upfront

I am surprised this thread is still very much active. Rooney seems like a ghost nowadays and very much part of our past. I feel he is off in the summer. I wish him well

According to a Newcastle fan on Talksport, United ruined his career and if he had gone to Newcastle he would have won the world cup. Oh and he can thread the ball through the eye of an eagle. Okaaaaay!

Be honest here, even his most ardent of supporters accept he's finished at the top level.

With his profile he could really make a difference in a developing football market, that should be his motivation now. To see 1000's of kids take up football instead of other sports.

The peak has gone to such an extent that he can no longer even offer something from the bench in the PL.

If you think the new generation of kids adoring him you're very wrong. They want to become messi/ronaldo, not rooney.

His fans who idolizr him are old enough to see him become his own enemy.

In another continent, yes, maybe.

Yes, in Asia, Africa and US, he'd be an amazing inspiration, if he somehow directed his energies in that direction.

All over for our Wayne. Was definetely spotted at the Lowry.

Either
a) sick again
b) has a no compete clause from Everton
c) Mourinho has finally decided the guy offers nothing

Jose just said he had a knock to his ankle. Make of that what you want.

The only thing that surprises me is that he manages to keep a straight face when he has to come up with a different excuse for not picking him every week, while everyone knows what's up.

 Ashley is going to be in here in a minute telling us all off for laughing and coming up with all the excuses under the sun for him.

Strange how Rooney has had so many 'knocks' and strange injuries this season. Is it likely he actually is more injury prone than usual this season and I'm reading too much into, or...? Either way, there's really been no noise from anyone involved for him not playing.

I don't understand why Jose drops him, makes some lame injury excuse and then brings him back the next game to play 10 mins and then again repeat the process. All seems a bit pointless.

Of course it's weird, no way that he is getting this silly injuries all the time, and getting ill every other week. Lack of noise pretty much confirms that the media is protecting him. Few months ago he couldn't be subbed off without it covering front pages, but now for some reason no one cares about this situation with his "injuries".

How is the media protecting him, in this case? Protecting him from what?

I might be wrong, but I find their lack of interest in questioning these silly injuries and lack of playing time very unusual. I mean, you know how precious they were always about Rooney, he couldn't miss a training without anyone mentioning it.

I guess we'll know more at the end of the season. He's probably already sorted a move.

Where do you stand on Rooney right now? Would you say he's done at the top level (meaning league winner, genuine threat in ECL) or do you think he's still up there.

That isn't him being protected, his omittance from the squad has just been so normalised that it's not worth mentioning as it doesn't fill columns and collect clicks anymore. When it first started there was questions, nobody cares anymore.

He's not so important to England anymore, so journos no longer care very much.

Just keeping him in and around the side to avoid a prolonged absence becoming a talking point. Stage managing the end of his career to try and minimise embarrassment to either side.
