You're being all sensible. By that stage I just wanted a sinkhole or something to liven up the game.I thought that was an unnecessarily stupid thing to do at that stage.

Too trueYou're being all sensible. By that stage I just wanted a sinkhole or something to liven up the game.
Slow and shit?
BingoSlow and shit?
Thought we were better after he came on. Need to integrate him a bit more to balance out the pace and athleticism of the others.
You mean there was too much pace, so we needed the slowest attacker in the league to balance that out? Mata, yes, he would benefit athleticism with brains and finding space. I'm not sure what Rooney offers anymore. He's really good at shouting at the refs though.
He's got a hell of a lot more experience and football IQ than the others, which makes him more useful than our resident Wilf Zaha impersonators.

Who are the resident Zaha impersonators then? I've seen you defend Rooney, Zlatan, and Lingard. So which players are the problem? He's got a hell of a lot more experience and football IQ than the others, which makes him more useful than our resident Wilf Zaha impersonators.

Agreed, never had enough time to really influence the game, certainly not to blame for the mediocrity.Thought we were better after he came on. Need to integrate him a bit more to balance out the pace and athleticism of the others.

Rashford, Mhyitariyan and Martial were very very average today.Who are the resident Zaha impersonators then? I've seen you defend Rooney, Zlatan, and Lingard. So which players are the problem?

He should have started instead of Rashford playing no 10, with Martial at no 9. I think abit more maturity would have helped us open them up.
He showed no maturity when he came on. Lost it with the ref twice and cost us the final possession. Let's just face it, he isn't up to it anymore, not from the bench and certainly not from the start.
People keep saying this but can anyone give a single example of where his experience and "football IQ" has made a positive difference to the club since Fergie left? He's got a hell of a lot more experience and football IQ than the others, which makes him more useful than our resident Wilf Zaha impersonators.
Way too much emphasis on that - simply lazy Rooney bashing. Rooney never cost us 2 points today
Given that we drew a game we should have won, because our front lines were totally lacklustre and uninspiring, I don't think you can say that he would not have made a difference had he started.

I didn't say he cost us 2 points, I said he cost us the final possession through sheer loss of control. That shows the lack of maturity you mentioned.
He played for twenty minutes, and didn't lift the team at all.
It's of course something I can say for certainty, but Rooney coming of an injury and a long time out of the side, would not have helped the team if he'd started.
I agree it wasn't the reason we drew but it was the icing on the cake for a frustrating game. Last minute counter attack spurned by the impetuousness of a senior player. Far more focused on throwing a hissy fit than helping his team. It was selfish and foolish, nothing new to Rooney but made all the more galling now that he doesn't have the brilliance to mitigate these traits. His ranting at ref's is increasingly more highlight worthy than his footballing performances and there is tragedy in that.
Being fouled doesn't make it acceptable to foul back. I'm not condoning Yacob (I think it was Yacob) but you seem to be condoning Rooney's behaviour. The WBA defender had his arms and legs wrapped around him and he somehow had to break free to attack.
As I said, its simply lazy Rooney bashing.
helped us to see the game out for a draw, nice little unnecessary scuffle near the end to entertain as well.

Agreed on all points.
And I am not a Rooney fan - I want him sold asap.
Comes on and helps the team lose it's head, foolishly ruined our last chance to attack because he lacked any self control. Costing the team chances because of your own ego is not the type of "leadership" and "experience" anyone needs.
Better how?Would be better if he just started games to be honest, but he is coming off an injury and his form has been hampered so Jose prevails with how he uses him, be it off the bench or as a starter.
