Walcott Next Out The Door?

He is left footed, English, and Premiership tested.

But on the other hand he's a headless chicken most of the time.

Can't United do better?

I thought he was right footed, but then googled it and saw some different answers and got confused.

I've watched enough of him to call him a headless chicken though.

Yep, you've clearly watched him very closely.

In a mirror.

I'd rather we bought another creative attacking midfield if we are going to invest in that area, rather than another fast wide player. I prefer the Silva and Mata types, to the more direct players such as Valencia. I don't think it's an area we need to buy in but I'd rather have Kagawa and another ACM and 2 wingers, as opposed to what we have now which is one ACM and 3 wingers.

Ian Wright reckons he'll end up at Old Trafford

The full interview doesn't quite say that. He basically says "If they're interested they'll get him". But the general tenor of the interview was very much as a frustrated fan.

While I wouldn't be the happiest at him being here over Nani I do think he has untapped potential. One of the few players that I don't think Wenger has done very well with.

It's hard to say but he really hasn't improved all that much since his début and you'd think he could be a lot better. Maybe not, who knows.

A mate who is a Southampton fan is baffled by Arsenal's use of Walcott, he said when he was there he was a striker who would leave defenders for dead with his pace, reminiscent of a young Michael Owen. He can't believe that he's played on the wing so often as he said it's obvious he is out of his natural position and is only there for his pace.

You're probably right, I just read the Norwegian translation.

But surely we don't need another striker - left footed or right footed? And we already have better wingers. As redmeister said, I'd prefer us to buy a technically gifted ACM rather than a kick and rush type with blinding pace.

One of the main reasons he wants to leave arsenal is because he wants to play up front and not on the wing, can't see him coming here and dislodging our strikers

Apart from the fact that they are offering him 75K pw while he wants something around 100K!

If you believe what you read in the papers.

I doubt this is solely about money. he wants to play and Wenger repeatedly fails to pick him so he's asked for assurances. They haven't been forthcoming.

It's also clear that Arsenal are on the slide, so why not look to move to a club looking to go places?

Then that poses the question, if he can't get into wenger's lineup (and arsene wenger is a fantastic manager), why would he get into Fergie's? It's not as if Arsenal have fantastic strikers/wingers that are blocking his path. He's not good enough.

As of now, we are believing that United is interested in him after reading the papers, innit?

Anyway, he is far more inconsistent than Nani and Young. I'd rather have them here instead of spunking a bit of money on Walcott. We don't even need him as we have far better players.

Now it's Chelsea after Walcott.

Did I miss something? I know he's English and is still only 23, but when did Theo become such a hot property? I always considered him overrated. Lots of speed, sure, but not much else, plus he's injury prone. If Wenger couldn't turn him into a top player, what are the chances he'll become one somewhere else?

Like feck would Arsenal get 15m for Walcott. Laughable article.

The difference is that Fergie has the knack of rotating his squad and keeping everyone happy. If he comes to United he has Valencia, Young and (currently) Nani in his way. I think, in light of Nani seemingly out the door shortly, he would get games.

He might also look at how Valencia (as an example) has come along as a player since he joined United. He seems like a lad who wants to play and wants to get better, rather than someone with a massive ego who thinks he's made it - the move might therefore appeal to him.

As regards Arsenal - he should be playing. He's clearly a better player than Gervinho, and he's scored more goals this year than Giroud so I don't know why he's not getting picked. That's probably why he wants to leave. They even picked Ramsey right wing the other day - maybe Wenger is making a point regarding the contract negotiations.

It's all speculation but he's a talented kid who's contract is nearly down so that's why I think Fergie would at least consider it.

I'm not "believing" anything. Its all speculation.

But as said above - he's young, cheap and seems to have untapped potential. Clubs will therefore consider him. If United flog Nani for £20 million and replace him for less than half they might think that's good business.

He's got a better record than he gets credit for. He's at least as good as Ashley Young for me. Perhaps in a better side and with a bit of quality coaching he could become a top player. He's certainly young enough.

How? He doesn't has the talent or the skills similar to Nani. His final ball is much worse. He doesn't provides as much defensive work as Nani and Young do, and just runs around like a headless chicken.

Also, his record his flawed somewhat. Sure you can point out to 10+ goals and assists in the last 2 seasons, but how many games has he been influential in? How many games has he stepped up in and shown his true quality?

He's a good player, some unfair criticism in here. Wouldn't be disappointed if we got him for a decent price but there are certainly better players out there.

Walcotts a strange one to be honest, bags of talent, has flashes of brilliance and has scored against some great teams. Yet most of the time he's just an inconsistent bag of english hype.

I think wenger has stuttered his career somewhat though. Sir Alex would probably turn him into a beast. Can't see it though.
