Virgil van Dijk | VVD throws a hissy fit

A transfer ban for something that most clubs do all the time?
The whole sending Van Dijk videos of how he'd fit Klopp's system seems a bit much. I doubt teams do that much.

I remember PSV were upset when it turned out Fergie kept in touch with Van Nistelrooy after his original transfer fell through and he torn his cruciate ligament. There was also some fuss when Stam revealed in his booked that Fergie tapped him up in 1998.
Just rumours by the overzealous media

To be fair, I'm not sure what's the big difference between a manager telling a player how he will fit into his team and a manager showing him that in a video.

i think Liverpool would have signed him had they not started gloating through paul joyce that he wanted to join them after meeting Klopp in Blackpool.

There is no difference. However, bragging about it to the press when the selling club refuses to sell their asset at a fee agreeable to them is definitely worth punishment. This is foolishness on a grand scale.

Liverpool are set to escape punishment for allegedly tapping up Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.

The Saints reported the Reds to the Premier League after numerous reports emerged suggesting the Holland international had decided he wanted to join Jurgen Klopp's side.

However, with no bid made, Southampton took their grievance to the authorities, prompting an immediate apology from Liverpool - accepted by the south-coast side - and a commitment to end their interest in the centre-back.

A preliminary investigation was launched by the Premier League but has stalled as there is insufficient evidence to support Southampton's claim.

It is understand that unless new information comes to light there will not be any more progress with the inquiry, effectively allowing Liverpool to avoid a sanction.

EVerton has the money now or soon they will. What better way to ruin Clops day? Plus I think VVD played under Koeman before?

My understanding/hunch is that most of that money has already been spent on Claasen (sp), Pickford, and a couple more. But then again, they are backed by rich owners so it wouldn't surprise me. In reality, though, VvD is not going to end up at Everton.

They used it all up with Pickford and Keane at almost 30m and Klaasen at 25m.
I doubted that's they're all out with some smaller PL clubs can afford budget like 50mil nowadays without any sale. I think Everton still have some more juice to go into the market.

I meant they are out of the Lukaku money, not out of their entire budget.

Haha. As if VVD would go there. Lame journalism anyway, they are being linked with everyone including £40m for Sigurdsson and a German.

Everton is a step up from Southampton, it's not like there are buyers lining up to buy Van Dijk at that price. If they pay the price required, player will go there.

Huge signing if Everton do get him. They'll have some side this season.

Yeah, brilliant signing if Everton get him. Keane and van Dijk at the back would be some partnership

Yeah, Everton ain't happening. Not sure what the source was but this is definitely not realistic.

I like VVD but £60m fee will hurt him no matter who he signs for. One brainfart and all the pundits will be behind his back. It's what I really hate about today's transfer fees.

He's better than Everton tbh, Arsenal should take a punt. With Petr, Bellerin, Kos, Van Dijk, Kolasinac, Xhaka, AOC/Ramsey, Sanchez, Ozil, Walcott/Welbeck/Iwobi, Lacazette they could field a very good team. Not too impressed by mini-Mustafi.

He is prone to lapses in concentration of this sort, despite being a very good centre-back overall.

Bollocks. He is under no obligation to go if he doesn't fancy it. You seem to be under the impression it's slave labour.
