Nice jinx there
He did make a decent amount of headers, though.
Nice jinx there
Tbf its a great cross. He was never going to get it. Welbeck was 100% AWB's man.Nice jinx there
good performance today along with Maguire. If he steps up another level it'd save us a fortune to spend on the next CB
He isn’t remotely good enough in the long term.
Wan-Bissaka and Shaw don’t cover themselves in glory but Lindelof finding himself underneath a cross into the box might as well make it onto a sweepstake.
Funny how it’s due to the collective’s performance when talking about the fact that we have one of the best defenses in the league but whenever we concede it’s always Lindelöf’s fault.
AWB loses his man an incredible amount of times, and invariably Lindelof receives part of the blame for it. If AWB actually does his job, then no one even mentions it. He's so poor positionally. As a CB, you should expect your FB to be able to do the basics of defending a cross.Negative - we concede an alarming number of goals/chances when crosses land between AWB and Lindelöf. Can’t work out whether it’s one or both at fault but it happens too often to be coincidence.
Positive - some “proper CB” headers in there at times tonight from long balls into the CFs. Nice to see he’s improved that area of his game
What’s your point?
My point is that Maguire needs a proper partner and that it isn’t Lindelof. I’m absolutely right in saying that.

You may or may not be right. Your timing for having a go at him is woeful though. He played well tonight.
Basically this. Its quite weird that Lindelof and AWB absolved in these situations.AWB loses his man an incredible amount of times, and invariably Lindelof receives part of the blame for it. I think it's because plenty of posters have decided he isn't good enough, and are actively looking for faults, as opposed to actually crediting him for his performances. That includes highlighting every small error he makes, which is made by every player multiple times a game, and diluting what he does well by giving credit to our players as well as Lindelof. He's been really, really good for a while now. What’s your point?

He wasnt out of positionI am right. He’s out of position for the goal conceded and being underneath crosses is a regular problem of his. I’ll be sure to tag you the next time he does this. I trust you’re clever enough to keep an eye out for it yourself.
He wasnt out of position
The ball also went over Maguires head does that mean he is out of position? If he was in position then the ball doesn’t go over his head. Watch Maguire: it’s simple stuff. He’s hardly ever caught under it.

Dude the ball was always going far post to the AWB/Welbeck duel. This happens all the time to all center backs when a flat cross aimed for far post just goes over their head. You can't magically just increase your heading range. If he was in position then the ball doesn’t go over his head. Watch Maguire: it’s simple stuff. He’s hardly ever caught under it.

Maguire is beyond the near post. Lindelof is covering the space for the near post run and center. AWB is with Wellbeck and covering the run coming in from the back post. Wellbeck scores
That's flawed logic. Most back post crosses go over the CB. A lot of CFs have made it an art to play off the FB for this very reason. Lindelof is defending his area. AWB is supposed to be defending his. If he gets beaten by someone that's not particularly good in the air, then it's on him.If he was in position then the ball doesn’t go over his head. Harsh to completely blame him for the goal, but nothing wrong at all with pointing out he was partly responsible for a passage of poor defendingHarsh to blame him for the goal imo. He looked massively improved in the air as well. A lot more aggressive.
Lindelof isn't shit in the air. He's not great, but he's not shit either.I credit his good performances. His second half was a good one. But he’s underneath the ball as usual and it costs us goals. Wan-Bissaka is also part of the issue. Shite in the air, the pair of them.

It's almost always like that, it became a parody. BTW I think he's getting better lately but still with a mistake in him he's nowhere near good enough. Really the least what you can ask from defender is being reliable.. Victor is reliably mistake prone. After more than 100 games you could make a decent CB with an odd mistake out of Tom Thorpe. But yeah he can stay fit unlike none of our other CBs bar Harry Maguire.Except for the goal I thought he did mostly well and didn't put a foot wrong most of time.

yeah I dont know what that means anymore. The leeway some give him all the time you'd think he was the CB version of Zlatan. It's almost always like that, it became a parody. If we hadn't seen this happen multiple times this season, then perhaps that could be the case. But AWB has been caught flat footed so often this season. He has no technique in the air and seems a bit flabbergasted by where he's meant to be to challenge for a aerial ball. Even when he's under no pressure he looks awkward when headering it.Definitely not arguing against that but I still think Lindelof could maybe do more. Didn’t seem to quite be set for the cross and didn’t really get off the ground. I think AWB thought Lindelof was going to get a touch.
Right on time. You arent sure if a CB misjudging the flight of a ball and a 6'2 striker getting on the end of it is the CB or RB's fault?
Put it this way. Name 5 right backs in the premier league that would beat a 6'2 striker in the air to the cross.
Its easy to name 10 CBs. Because its the CB's job to deal with boxes into the middle of the goal.

He was way better vs Milan & City. I was nervous about him today, can't deny, but Maguire was there to help and thank fook for that.
Needs to play - simple as that. Everyone's injured.
Definitely not arguing against that but I still think Lindelof could maybe do more. Didn’t seem to quite be set for the cross and didn’t really get off the ground. I think AWB thought Lindelof was going to get a touch.
0-1
Welbeck
AWB doing good to pick up his man but then turns off.
Lindelof initially doing well to cover the space, then looks over his shoulder for no reason and loses fraction of a second to leave himself in no man's land for the header. I'm genuinely shocked Lindelof jumps under an aerial ball again.
