VAR, Refs and Linesmen | General Discussion

I'm saying it, the ref is corrupt. We'll learn about this sort of corruption in about 10 years time.

Red card on Dalot for making such a stupid challenge while on a yellow. There was zero need whatsoever for him to dive in like that and, no shit, bad things can happen when you do.

That aside, the ref is awful.

If this game doesn't elicit a response from the club nothing will.

We are 100% refereed differently to other sides week in week out.

Not on tele in the US, well outside a stream or premium purchase, but seems more travesty on the pitch. In the immortal words of one Vince Lombardi...

it seems like any time one of our players has made contact today he has blown immediately. Is it becoming a no contact sport? Is there no longer such a thing as a 50/50 challenge?

Definitely a home decision that pen.

Havertz was never getting to that ball anyway with Martinez there, and you can't expect Maguire just to get out the way.

The judge is so ridiculous. But you know what's funny? As soon as our player barely touched Raya on a corner kick, the referee saw the foul.

This is why I thought the complaints about the reffing during the Liverpool game were over the top... This is the textbook definition of an appalling game from the ref

They swarmed us on every corner, ref did nothing. Our first corner and he blew before the ball landed. Take the fines as a club and manager and go off on the state of officiating against us. Something needs to give now.

19 fouls, 4 yellows, 1 red.

You’d think this was a Clasico back when Mourinho and Guardiola were coaches, or the infamous WC 2006 game between Netherlands and Portugal

Mad he thinks that’s a foul but the one on Bruno in the first half was waved away
It's a bit like that West Ham Ings tangle too given as a pen.

We should put a little video of all these dodgy ones together for the FA. Make a press story from it.
Klopp certainly would have done.

The thing that fecks me off the most is that the cards seem to come out much, much faster for us than they do for other sides.

The Wolves game was a textbook example. Bruno saw red and, in fairness, his second yellow card challenge was dumb as feck. With that said, I believe the first yellow was given for a fairly bog standard foul that was his first of the match. Further, Wolves players were not carded in a similar fashion.

Calls like the ridiculous penalty get noticed because their impact on the match is immediately apparent but this inconsistency with how cards are handed out between sides even in the same match has a huge impact on how a team is able to play, and my (admittedly extremely biased) impression is that our players get an awful lot of yellow cards for fouls that perhaps don't warrant them.

I can’t stand VAR, but when it’s not there you may as well cheat at every opportunity. Handle it, dive, let an elbow go astray. Who’s going to see it? That seems to be the thinking from this Arsenal side.

Wild refereeing today, we’re seeing the knock on effects of VAR too, leaving Havertz do an Henry on the ball right in front of goal with no whistle!

more often than not our players get carded for their first offence.
We’re not a violent team nor a team making cynical fouls yet get carded as if we were, infuriating
Arsenal on the other hand get away with cynical fouls, timewasting and simply tossing players around during set pieces
