VAR, Refs and Linesmen | General Discussion

New innovation - goalies to stand about 8 yards out when defending corners and run back towards their own goal like an attacker so they have momentum and 'the jump' on the attackers on the line.

Can't do anything but tip over your own bar though.

I honestly don't know how you stop this tactically.

The ref is feckin pathetic. Holds a tough line where players are allowed to be as physical as they want. Two straight arma into a running Amad, no foul. A nothing touch from Bruno, first yellow - two minutes prior, Gomes should have had a much clearer yellow before that. Nothing. All match

Free to Garnacho, surely?

It's been the same all fukking game. Soft freekicks for them for everything they want, but they're allowed to fly into us whenever they want. Yet we're the team with 10 men. I'd say it's scandalous but it's been going on for weeks now. Free reign to pile in on United and the refs are loving it.

Ref wanted to make a name for himself and he succeeded. Every call went Wolves' way tonight, just bowed to the pressure of that crowd. People need to wake up that we are reffed unlike any other team in the league. United struggling is what everyone wants and the refs help us along our way because it helps push the drama of the league.

And the players and managers never call it out. We just take it up the arse from PGMOL and smile while every other fanbase laughs at us and says we deserve it because of Fergie or some shite.

We're a cowardly club on this issue. Top down cowards, cowards on pitch and touchline
I agree. Today was an absolute joke. It almost seemed premeditated from the ref. Almost like he wants to be in the limelight and thinks fecking United over probably gets him a better chance to be in PGMOL’s good books.

Amorim really needs to be braver on this. He absolutely needs to lay down the marker today. Klopp would have lost his mind by now, but for some reason all our managers are too nice to the refs.

It seems that a lot of United fans have become cuckolds to referees and VAR.
Let’s just watch it happen while everyone just fecks us

Second yellow no?

I can understand the moaning if Fernandes had been given a straight red but there's enough there for a second yellow for sure.

Didn't see much wrong with the goal either, Onana isn't getting that even if there's no one behind him.

Amorim wont do anything about it, i think he made this clear.

Someone from the club hierarchy calls these cheats out. Every week vara dn the refs feck us but we just stay silent .

Who are we trying to impress here ? Just a bunch of cowards

Quality control
Amorim just danced around the question of was it a foul. What do the FA have on our club for us to always act so tame? I understand being sportsmanlike is a good look but so is winning games and we aren't doing that by being nice.

The goal was completely fine and entirely on us. They almost scored earlier from the same side, but unfortunately our players and staff seems too thick to consider they mighy try again. No one near back post, no one helping Onana by muscling them away. Shocking positioning from him too.

That being said, the referee was absolutely shocking in his 50/50 decisions, or even 60/40. All fouls when their way, completely different rule sets. Wolves player kicks the ball at goal after free kick, no card, Ugarte picks ball up, card. Coward of a ref.

Ruben isn't going to call them out and the pundit's ignore any controversial decisions against us. Ideal circumstances for refs to show their bias.
Cannot believe some of the freekicks for dives from the Wolves players and we got nothing from genuine fouls against our players.

Well another weekend of crap referring for us on the cards. I fully expect our managers to not having the backbone to speak out against the refs.

The fact that every opposing player and coach sees how bad Onana is in the air and that he is incapable of catching or anticipating the trajectory of the ball is not the ref's fault. At this level if you have a weakness everyone will expose it.
That was not a foul and Bruno's yellow was deserved.
We lost because we were bad, not because of the ref.

Look how even bloody forest lost their minds. As i said early on, if a bunch of fans on here and on bloody twitter can predict it, then you have a real problem. Liverpool and fulham called him out too. He is way out of his depth and the impact it has on a game is more than ANY player can have. no other sport suffers like this because of referees.

What are the odds Cunha gets banned for 8 games or something tomorrow? Most open and shut case of all time and of course the FA drags their feet just enough so that he can play the game of his life against United. It's transparent as feck.

I was not aware this ref has has previous such matches for other teams.

its actually embarrassing for him, van dijk said he and fulham players thought him too nervous for their match. He shouldnt be in the league, its that simple. back to league 1 or so and see how he does

Second player backs into Onana mid flight of ball. Prevents back step. Would not be suprised to see us not given goal for this.

I do remember him being shit when I was watching the championship a couple of years ago.

United gets fecked in general play regardless of the ref though.

It's quite clearly spelled out in law 12:

An indirect free kick is awarded if a player:
  • impedes the progress of an opponent without any contact being made
IMPEDING THE PROGRESS OF AN OPPONENT WITHOUT CONTACT

Impeding the progress of an opponent means moving into the opponent’s path to obstruct, block, slow down or force a change of direction when the ball is not within playing distance of either player.
No offence but I think you're the first person to read the rulebook in years. The refs don't, the players don't, the fans don't and the pundits dont.

The wolves player very clearly moves into the position that impeded Onana.

Not really they just stood their ground.

As a keeper you should be getting players in there to protect you. Focusing more on any potential contact with a player than the ball is what leads to goals like this.

He needs to be stronger, get players around him and give himself space to attack the ball. He does none of these things.

Go back and watch it again. The wolves player takes two or three steps towards Onana after the ball was played. He's not making any attempt to play the ball or even look at it really.
All this talk of "he could've done better" is beside the point I'm making. You could argue a player could always do better in any given scenario but that doesn't mean they can't be fouled.

That’s interesting. Never noticed him before but thought he had a really poor game. Loads of very obvious mistakes. And not all against us either. The Maguire handball he somehow couldn’t see was utterly bizarre.

Ya, both directions just terrible. Tried to get home fans on his side with 2 early united bookings - his incompetence was glaring from the off. Blew his whistle almost any chance he got - was just surviving from the off. Was like watching a reserve player thrown in out of position and just seeing instantly that theyre out of their depth
