I guess having a "senior" (it irks me that Oliver is considered as some sort of standard in this league) ref telling him to go to the monitor and showing him the footage in a very bias way swayed him, but it seemed quite clear from his demeanour he didn't believe it was a pen.

Yeah, but when that VAR ref is your buddy and he might take you to another country to be paid as an assistant referee on an all expenses paid trip, then surely you might be thinking.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen so many pundits, former refs etc all agree so much on a call against United. It's incredible that the VAR intervened on that one, but it won't matter as they will continue to officiate matches.
Why hasn't the PGMOL come out and made a statement yet? Or they just going to cower as usual and move on, disregarding the impact this has.

I used to think when United got Oliver that maybe this time he wouldn't feck the team over not to make his bias so obvious. He can't help himself though and always finds a way to show his true colours.

I do think the conversation around 'the VAR process' and 'clear and obvious mistakes' etc is important to the wider point however on this particular incident its irrelevant for me.
It's not a penalty in any way shape or form. The idea that a referee of any description, in any position, at any level would think that it should be is outrageous and it's that which needs investigating first and foremost. Oliver will have absolutely no explanation for that referral - it's a disgrace and any fallout from this should be primarily at his door, not the onfield ref. That guy is a fckin bare faced cheat

Howard web has an answer for everything and will always cover for the refs. He said as much in the podcast with Neville something along the lines of they don’t want to let their mates down. Nothing will change.

What do you propose they do? What we are basically saying here is that we think Oliver is corrupt or bias against us. If we asked for him never to referee our matches again we would be formalising that allegation. I’m pretty sure that would be met with sanctions.
I hear a lot of people complaining about this, but how does anyone know that MU haven’t privately complained to PGMOL and made their feelings clear? Perhaps they want to act with a bit more class than some other clubs and feel like they stand a better chance of a positive outcome if they’re not publicly screaming about their treatment.

If he's 'corrupt' then they'd better have absolute proof, otherwise that is a very expensive losing lawsuit, biased is hard to prove, for every wrong decision he's made for/against us you can bet there are examples, for most if not all, other clubs, he's basically just a shit referee who thinks he's the best

Oliver should be suspended for some games at least after that incident, especially after the impact of the loss on Ten Haag’s job. A bad refereeing decision may be the difference between someone keeping their job or not, a club getting relegated or not, or qualifying for Europe.
That is why I hate how protected referees are. Someone like Ten Haag should have gone out fighting yesterday. Call Oliver incompetent on TV and pin that loss on him. Put a target on his back and bring his incompetence to the fore.

I think everyone would love the club having a proper go at him in public, but open conflict and having a go at their no 1 ranked referee is unlikely to have much of a positive effect for us. Odds are they’d rally to protect him. We’ll make our feelings well known about the decision behind closed doors without turning it into a direct attack on Michael Oliver.

What Oliver did is match fixing. Not saying he is corrupt, but he just made a penalty out of absolutely nothing which in the end was decisive of the result, hence match fixing.
