US Politics

The idea that calling Trump a fascist is wrong because he "wasn't able to do" the fascist things he proclaimed is obviously laughable, and yes, you would assume she's saying that because she is pining for access to the market.
It's child-like in it's naivete. I really don't know how these people have shows and public profiles.

In this case the emotional response of the population is heavily driven by selective reporting though, so I guess I just disagree with that. We see it so clearly in the US. People are made to be scared of things they have no business being scared of, because they consume dogshit media that have a clear agenda other than reporting reality.
My point was simply that as a political commentator with a clear viewpoint, you should probably be able to separate an isolated occurrence that happened to you personally from your overall agenda, so that you don't drastically change course because of it. Otherwise I think it's a least fair game to question the motives of that commentator.
I think her arc here shows the futility of having a clear all encompassing viewpoint (i.e. an ideology) when you don't have experience with the negative consequences of it.

The emotional reponse being easily manipulated by agenda driven media is a good point, fair enough. Ideology can obviously be a strong defence against that, but I'm not sure it solves more problems than it causes.

I don't think it's naive, I think it's highly calculated in playing to a certain audience, striking a certain chord.
I believe these social media pundits/politics entertainers don't care whether they say stupid or wrong things if they are successful with it. Because for them, being successful means having been smart.

Yeah, watching that clip did make me wonder if it's performative, so that they take opposing views to generate attention.

Managed to catch a bit of this NPR segment a couple weeks ago, found it quite interesting.

How Conservative Talk Radio Came to Dominate the Airwaves

How did the right get their vice grip of the airwaves, all the while arguing that they were being censored? On this week's On the Media, a look at the early history of American radio, and why, in the post-war era, the U.S. government encouraged more diverse viewpoints on the airwaves — until it didn't. Plus, the technological and legal changes that led to the popularity of conservative talk radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh. [00:10] Reporter Katie Thornton explains how radio programming shifted from the 1930s to the 1960s, and how the FCC attempted to prevent propaganda on the airwaves. Plus, what legal challenges conservative radio faced during the Civil Rights Era. [10:07] Reporter Katie Thornton takes a deeper look at The 700 Club, a Christian television news show that helped give rise to a network of conservative Christian radio stations. [22:51] Reporter Katie Thornton describes how the introduction of high-quality FM radio led AM radio to focus on talk radio, and the factors that made way for Rush Limbaugh to become the breakout star of conservative talk shows.

I’m already exhausted, can I get one of those induced comas, like Jordan Peterson got?

Hopefully somewhere outside of Russia.

Does AOC have the worst political instincts in the whole US politician class?

Maybe we aren’t thinking hard enough!

She does seem uniquely terrible and wouldn’t have a job if not for the very safe district. The millennial Ed Miliband.

Although on the plus side it means more time to stream playing video games!

They are inscrutable at times. You'd hope she'd be a little more savvy, given how obvious it is that the Democrats are made up of Lizzy Bathorys, seeking to bathe in the blood of any young and progressive that crosses their path.

House votes against bill pushed by Musk and Trump....

They took $190 million for kids with cancer out the original bill.

Pure fecking evil scum.

Mitch Mcconnell stroking out on live TV. Dianne Feinstein showing obvious alzheimer's in congressional hearings. Now someone in assisted living whilst still serving.
A Republican Congresswoman who has been “missing” for the past six months has finally been found.
We then received a tip from a Granger constituent who shared that the Congresswoman has been residing at a local memory care and assisted living home for some time after having been found wandering lost and confused in her former Cultural District/West 7th neighborhood.

The Dallas Express team visited the facility to confirm whether Granger was residing there and to inquire about how she planned to vote on the spending bill. Upon arrival, two employees confirmed that Granger is indeed living at the facility. Granger had already announced her retirement at the end of this Congress.

Please tell me this means he will reply in kind and spill the evidence he may have on his colleagues.

He's filed an injunction to get the release of the report stopped.

Too late Matt, the cat's already out of the bag. Best go get an 8 ball and a bottle of Hennessy and drown your sorrows mate.
