yeah, district 7 which is presumably majority black, shouldn't be penetrating into districts 6 & 1 like it's shown on that map.
His platform was surprisingly progressive by Alabama standards. He specifically praised the New deal. He said healthcare should be a right for all. Womens' right to choose.
Abortion was the most divisive and some exit poll showed many Moore voters were mainly motivated by that. But he was open about it during the campaign.
Here's hoping.

You know, I not sure how Steve Bannon played down there. Or for that matter how he helps anywhere. I consider myself a conservative, but people like Bannon and Moore make me sound like like a bloody socialist.

If nothing else this has shown that Trump, Brexit and the push towards populist nationalism that seemed to take hold over the last two years or so has knocked people off the fence and out of their ignorant comfort zones.
I was certainly one of those, completely apathetic to politics and voted for the first time in the referendum and then our general election. I suspect many young people and many of the ethnic minority backgrounds have suddenly realised what a vote means and are getting their arses to the voting booth instead of saying 'yeah but my vote won't matter so meh'.
There's a huge generational shift taking place as more young and/or previously disadvantaged/gerrymandered people come and manage to cast a vote.
I wonder what it'll mean for Alabamians too. The younger people and the African Americans voted liberal and rejected a staunchly religious candidate playing to a staunchly religious base. I wonder if it'll become less stereotypically evangelical crazy nutjob Christian?
I mean, maybe just maybe a lot of people are looking at the Moore/his supporters excuse of 'yeah well it was the done thing back in the day for men in their 30's to date young teenage girls' and thinking about just how bloody ridiculous and crazy it actually is. Might break through to people to change the type of religion they believe in. Obviously most will still be heavily Christian but might think more about adapting their beliefs to modern times and modern social norms rather than being stuck in the stone ages.

It's simple really, white women when faced with the choice of voting in favour of their race or gender, chose the former.
In some progressive countries they take a scientific approach to the subject to try and prevent child abuse in society. Point being that it's a bigger problem than to be reduced to only pedophilia.
From a legal POV, it's barely important because being a pedophile could give him an actual defense, being a child molester without the categorization of pedophile isn't really a good deal.

You'll have to expand on that. Are you suggesting they're given counciling, or other non-sexual interests, that they're subjected to regular age apropriate sexual suggestion or that they're given pedophilic material which will actually re-inforce their very dangerous fetish?
Yes there are countries who offer treatment or help so that crimes can be prevented. I don't know how it works though or if they can be ''cured''. But seems like a better approach to me and also offers opportunities for better research.
