Yes there are countries who offer treatment or help so that crimes can be prevented. I don't know how it works though or if they can be ''cured''. But seems like a better approach to me and also offers opportunities for better research.

The problem with a child abuser is that they fall into the category of sociopath in that they've completely destroyed an individuals life for their own lust. A paedophile maybe not necessarily have acted on those desires and maybe not be a sociopath if they decide to never act on their desires. So there is a difference. But ofcourse Moore did act upon his desire and has hurt many young girls lives forever for his own selfish lust.

Other unpopular opinion: it was wrong to assassinate and mutilate an unarmed bin Laden.

A mass murderer of 10,000s of people probably isn't the highest priority on most social rights agenda.

You'll have to expand on that. Are you suggesting they're given counciling, or other non-sexual interests, that they're subjected to regular age apropriate sexual suggestion or that they're given pedophilic material which will actually re-inforce their very dangerous fetish?

It’s really more about psychological counsel.

That certainly wasn’t wrong. It’s war, end of it.

It probably wasn't wrong to shoot him (suicide vest assumption). Wrong to "canoe" him, if the intercept's reporting is to be believed on that one.

Common theme from the righties today is that Jones is already a lame duck and will be out next election. A one-termer is the phrase, as opposed to Moore being a zero-termer.

It'll be incredibly tough for Jones to win in 2020 as it'll coincide with the presidential election. If you look at the GOP turnout yesterday, it was around 50% down compared to the Republican turnout in the 2016 election.

I swear I read about this story on the Cafe earlier today but can't find it anywhere now, anyway:

Who Shopped the Fake Document Smearing Chuck Schumer?

Its worth noting Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey "follows" Cernovich's account.

IIRC he's got a lot of obvious right wing news follows with a few more of the more famous shit-stirrers

But honestly, end of the day, they follow the #1 guiding principle AKA what makes money vs what puts that at risk

Just released. The Cnut just won't go away....

Bangs on about how important liberty is then bangs on about how he wants his religion to dictate people’s lives.

The “religious conservatives” have some serious disconnect going on in their minds.

The sad thing is millions nationally of these so-called religious people will be swayed by this cnut.

Also the irony of someone who proclaims to pursue the will of god, when quite clearly if it was such the will of god, he likely wouldn’t need to pursue it.

And how exactly is this relevant to Roy Moore, especially now when he lost the election versus wen the news came out?

Bangs on about immorality and wanting God to rule our lifes and that Abortions are the devils work and yet he is a paedophilic nutjob.

Its always the case with religious nutcases (of all stripes)-- they did something abhorrent in the past and; are overcompensating and require this extreme religious rigidity to keep them from re-straying again.

I don't know if this should go here, but given that today is the day they're gonna vote on net neutrality in the US, I hopped over to r/the_donald to see what they're saying (all of them seem to be pro Ajit Pai) and this one took the cake:

I thought they already voted?

When Will Paul Ryan Step Down?

“There’s a whole lot of rumors and speculation that the speaker may step aside,” one GOP member told HuffPost this week, a sentiment that was expressed by a number of Republicans who, perhaps tellingly, wouldn’t go on the record to speak about Ryan’s future.

Why would he? He's not under the kind of pressure Boehner was.

Also, feck Ajit Paid.

I'm not sure if he is an expert troll or just fecking oblivious but this is hilarious.

Maybe, but 1) we don't know what's going on behind the scenes, 2) he was reluctant to accept this job to begin with (partly because he has 3 kids), 3) he might be tired of being asked about Trump every day.

Can see that being the main motivation. He probably has aspirations to run as President some day and he may not want to be too connected to Trump in the long run.

Suspect he is just in it for the tax deal.

I forgot to mention that: Paul Ryan, of course, has been talking about "simplifying the tax code" for years, and if he gets anything along these lines, he will feel satisfied (and try to run on it in a future presidential bid).

Edit: Politico just came with this report:

It's one of the most blatant examples of this sub being influenced by paid influencers. "Look 'Bama did it, it's bad! Be our troll army so we can feck with your bandwidth!"

Looks like Paul Ryan is really worried by whats going to happen in the midterms.

Always thought Ryan was holding out for the Presidency, too. But surely you'd think if he's that disillusioned he'd angle for impeachment more?

He's been wanting to leave congress for a few years, so the impending Dem wave next November may be a way for him to conveniently duck out and announcing it well before the election would allow him to appear like he's doing it by his own decision as opposed to one made by the voters.

Other suggestion I'm reading online is Mueller's investigation's trickling down to him and he'll be implicated so will want to get the heat off him. Seems unlikely...but would be fun.

And with all the sexual assault scandals coming to light lately, you can’t count that out just yet either.

You don't accept a VP nomination at the ripe old age of 42 if you wish to 'have more time for family' and all that crap.

Get the tax bill through, duck out and lay low for the storm to pass, then run for the Senate in 20/22.
