US Politics

Reading that this particular exit poll data wont show the vote %.

it'll be questions like "Is the country heading in the right or wrong direction?".
US ones are always like this, you can infer a head-to-head figure from them but that isn't what they're designed to do and they get adjusted a lot as returns come in.

I'm not getting my hopes up. I'd love to have the optimism of anyone who believes Jones will get elected.

How so? The question is terrible. Saying that as a political scientist. If I was a hardcore democratic voter, I would also have said that it didn’t influence my vote as I would have voted Jones anyway. Pointless.

As Jones needed support of large numbers of people who dont normally vote and these allegations would have been what motivated them to vote.

Its really early though and the data will be updated as more votes come in, so we'll have a clearer idea in the next 1 or 2 hours.

Also this:

I still don't think that Jones will win. My hope is that, if Moore wins, it will be by a small margin. A 5-10% shift in Alabama may not make a difference, but it can make a difference in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida and so on.

It really could be happening....

One down and three to go :D

Still going to be a tough ask.

I just think its highly unlikely. Jones needs multiple things to happen for him to pull it off

Moderate Republican staying home in large numbers or turning out to vote for Jones
Luther Strange voters switching to Jones

Going to bed now. Hoping to wake up to new that the pedo has lost.

Huh? What are your four things?

Moore campaign strategist saying they are getting strong turnout in the republican counties.

Can't see twitter here. Any chance Jones pulls it off?

Too early to tell. Exit polls have him underperforming Romney with white voters so far, but we don't know how the other demos are doing so far, most notably black voters.

What a shambles, people putting politics over morality etc. Makes me sick...

Only way Jones takes it if blacks/minorities/millennials turn out in big numbers. Like Trump, the GOP aren't straying from the flock no matter what. It will be all too easy to 'stick it to liberals' in the privacy of the voting booth.

If those poll numbers on college-educated whites are anywhere near correct, then this will be an easy Moore victory.

Can't lie, I'm getting a bit of PTSD flashback to last November when my brain could not bridge from what I thought should happen to what actually was happening

So far, both sides are beating their benchmarks in their core voting areas. Nothing is decided here at all. Jones' ocore areas just have moe voters, so if he continues to outperform his benchmarks by such margins, he might have a shot.
