Unpopular Opinions Thread

No I was referring to him warning DDG he has to fight for his spot because the new signing (Romero) is capable. In my opinion telling a top player he needs to fight for his spot does not serve any purpose but would have negative effect. No?

He didn't say that, he suggested Romero was capable of being a first choice keeper. Which is fine, nothing wrong with competition and keeping a player performing.

De Gea is another who wants to leave and if that's the case, LVG knows more than any of us here do and up to last night's interview he has stated time and time again that De Gea has been professional. Now he has simply suggested it is "unfavorable" for the transfer to still be dragging on. Basically he wants him to commit to the club or feck off, which is more than fair.

Don't really want to say in details but I do know someone who knows LvG's man management first hand. Sorry can't say more than that.

What rubbish, you just sound like a WUM now!

Last game in pre-season, surely the meltdown is understandable?
It really isn't

The problem is not about a one pre season loss. I think some people here like yourself who really love LvG and appreciate each move the manager makes need to think properly. LvG has not done anything to untied yet and before that day comes, he would still be under scrutiny. Yeah give him time, but to do what? He needs to prove we doubters wrong, and he better be quick.

People like yourself are marginally like the RAWK, whatever the manager does he does no wrong even things are not working. Wake up and wise up mate!
Wow, words cannot describe how fecked up this post is.

United will be grand.

Will finish comfortably in the top four again, if not top three/two.

Van Gaal will actually be doing a solid job for 99.9% of the season despite the name calling.

United will be impressive in Europe under him too.

And relax.

Yep. I predict the semis.

Jones won't ever become a top - let alone - world class center back. In fact, he won't ever become a starting CB in a team that wins EPL.

I second this

Yep,

Transfer window still open for another month so plenty of time to get a player or two more in, which I think we will.

I think we'll get top 3, QF's of CL and hopefully progress a bit in the FA Cup this year.

At this point in time, 4th would be a good outcome for this season.

*that's presuming ADM & DDG leave, LVG continues to dislike Herrara, & we continue to play crap formations & with players out of position.

For me he's now a funny amusing character in the side more than a solid centre back. That is for the opposition more than us.

I don't rate him either and he's got a major amount of improving to do to ever give me confidence in his ability.

I think a big difference for some folks on here is that some love the defenders who dive in like idiots and others like myself prefer defenders who are cool, calm and collected in their play. Jones is not the latter and in the modern game, it's not appropriate to expect a top defence with players like him in it, in my view.

I really believe we are lacking up front. Rooney will not score enough goals. He is nowhere near good enough anymore. He will continue to play as he is captain and it could be to the detriment of the team.

This is just a place for the knee jerkers to spout their negativity unchallenged.

It's all good if he does build a foundation. Give him time, yes. But then we still are faced with he doesn't know where his player is and players wanting to leave scenario. He needs to improve on his man management skill when working hard on foundation. He has exactly two seasons to prove himself and we are patient. All we need is improvement. He can't just go buy world class player and let him go next season. Buying a second rate goal keeper and telling the classy one "you need to work fight your spot". Look what effect it has on players!

Just because LVG told the world that "he doesn't know where ADM is" doesn't mean its the truth, we are obviously negotiating with PSG so maybe its easier for him to deal with the situation as it isn't fair on the team as the press conference would be all about ADM when he clearly isn't part of LVG's plans.

With regards to De Gea I think you read a headline and not the whole interview.

I've faith in LVG but he should be shot out of a cannon.
I've no faith in LVG and he should be given a job for life.

There, that's all the bases covered, I think.

All the players are shit and will never make it at United.
All the players will prove the doubters wrong and make it at United.

One loss in a pre season game and the Caf meltsdown, and we have the cheek to laugh at RAWK.
One game? Okay. It's not as if we were awful for most of last season as well... It's not like Van Gaal was pulling this shit last season as well to no avail...

It's certain that only this game in isolation has triggered a massive overreaction. Last season was last season. Up until this PSG game, most were content.

FFS
Chill, the seasons not even started.

No, they weren't. People were concerned about the same things. The same questions were being asked. Why has Smalling been dropped? Why is Blind playing at centre back? Why haven't we bought a quality centre back? Why is our best midfielder sitting on the bench again? Where is the creativity in our team? Who is going to score our goals for us?

None of these questions have yet been answered with a sufficient answer. Yesterday was when they came to a head. We've spent an awful amount of money and yet Van Gaal is making the same mistakes he was last season.

Tbf we do know the answers to a fair few of those questions. We know Blind is playing CB because LVG wants a left footer there, we know Herrera is on the bench because of the competition in CM and him not being #10, we know Rooney is the main man we're trusting to score the goals for us, etc.

We just don't like a lot of those answers.

Then why are you?
Wait what? That stinks of 'I know you are but what am I?'.

I've just given my opinion. You've come in here in this thread all sarcastic with the green smiley's and the comparisions to RAWK. You've obviously got wound up or at least mildly annoyed by some of the views on this thread. It's a thread for unpopular OPINIONS.

Yeah, I'm the one that's annoyed.

Well this is the unpopular opinions thread where people come in and you know, give their unpopular opinions...

..then people may wish to retort to challenge or potentially change the 'unpopular' opinion?

Or is this some sort of thread in the ilk of David Caruso on CSI:Miami, where we all spout a random thought and then walk off-screen before anyone can question what we've just said?

I'm happy Di Maria is going, and the sooner De Gea follows him out the better.

I never thought Angel was worth what we paid for him, I think PSG are still overpaying for him and I don't want a player who is not committed to this club.

Normally I'd agree with this, but our lack of replacement options make it imperative that DDG stays. Even if his head is turned, he'll be professional enough to deliver on the pitch.

Bullshitter? The guy is as honest and transparent as they come.

He may be arrogant, orthodox, dogmatic etc, but bullshitter? :wenger:

Yes but I didn't mean bullshitter as in "liar" but more like as in using big words for little output (philosophy being the word that annoys me the most). He talks the talk.

LVG will leave the squad in a much better place then he found it (that's what £200 million will do in fairness)

But he won't win anything, because of his over complicated and stubborn tactics.
