Moyes is going to weaken the squad in the summer.

He's already started the process by ridding us of our only back-up full back in Fabio. Nani and Kagawa will be off - 2 of our most talented attackers we should be giving a run of games to get the best out of them - instead we'll keep Young and Valencia even though they've proved not good enough after being given the chances Nani and Kagawa don't get. Probably Hernandez as well. Been numerous reports he's not a fan of Rafael either.

Then there's the old guard which he'll (thankfully) be getting rid of.

That's an awful lot to replace. And without Champions League football, attracting the quality of players that will make up for the losses is going to be impossible. These scouting missions over the past few weeks will have been a massive waste of time when he realises Vidal, Kroos and Reus will have no interest in joining the 7th placed team in the PL.
Actually I've already made the exact same points many times, and believe that the Glazers should not let him sign too many players.

Over 2012/13 Kagawa was much much better than Welbeck, now we have a mediocre manager who cannot get an even average performance out of him.

(Actually this probably doesn't fit in this thread)
Welbeck was injured for much of last season, but still had a standout performance against Real Madrid. The consensus for Kagawa's first year was that he wasn't especially good and still needed to find his feet, though he did put in a terrific performance against Norwich. Overall, neither had a great time, but Fergie must have had a reason for loving Welbeck and playing him whenever he was fit. SAF also persevered with Valencia fwiw.

Coming back to Kagawa, since he joined the club various excuses have been made for his lacklustre performances including his position/his teammates/the style of play/the manager. I have no vested interest in seeing him fail to adapt, but there has to come a point where you say that perhaps it isn't everybody else's fault and maybe it's just down to the player.

You do realise that Kagawa was our highest scorer last season outside RVP, Rooney and Chicharito? This in a season that he was adapting to a new league and often played out of position.

Unpopular opinion:

We need to change our style of play to get the most out of Valencia. At the moment, we're too slow to spread it out to the wings so Valencia doesn't have the chance to get a run on his fullback and whip the crosses that made him one of, if not the, most effective winger in the world. His decline basically began when Scholes stopped playing and the team lost the quick diagonals that had become the trademark of our play since the Beckham days. Though Carrick is good at them, he doesn't see the passes as well as Scholesy used to. If we can bring in someone with the vision to hit those first time balls again, Valencia and United will be great again.

6 goals including one game where he scored a hattrick (the Norwich game I mentioned). The fact we couldn't spread out the goals was a problem rather than the means to a virtue.

Just saying he's scored more goals than Welbeck even though he's basically played not as close to the opposition goal.

Welbeck played as a defensive winger for much of last season. Kagawa played in the same starting position but stayed higher up the pitch.

Let's just agree to disagree on Kagawa, and anyway, I expect he'd be gone soon if Moyes stays.

Benfica should have won it in the last minute of normal time

In truth, Real should have leathered us in the 2nd leg of the semi final. And you're right, Eusebio should have buried that chance but he met Stepney in his finest hour. I still can't believe that didn't go in.

You could talk about luck for nearly every team winning the CL though. It's a competition that hinges on the smallest events in games.

Yep. We'd have been there again in 1969 if the ref had been a few feet closer to goal to see Law's shot cross the line.

So many opinions here based on completely false claims. This is a perfect example. What position is Buttner backup in the squad for, FB.

The keeper saved it? How is that luck? A player used his ability to stop another player. It's not like somebody should of seen red for a last man challenge and got away with it.

Ah we weren't all that great in Normal time...Put it this way, there is no way we should have been 4-1 up in extra time

Still reckon he should have slotted it in

feck it, couldn't give a toss. I'll take it :D

Rafael shouldn't be the future right back at the club.

Both SAF and DM have given him a lot of freedom for a fullback. It's mostly worked out well, even when he decides to completely abandon his postion; but now that we've got Mata and Januzaj staking claims for the wing roles, we need someone who doesn't go walkabout to the centre of the pitch whenever he feels like it.

 Ay but at least it gave Best a platform at the highest level to show his talent. How many finals have been truly one sided I wonder? It's rare unless you get a small team fluking their way there.

Emmmm probably the first half of Liverpool vs Milan? Milan were beautiful to watch in the first half.

Closer to home, maybe us against Millwall in the FA Cup?

EDIT: Take it back, us against Arsenal in the FA cup in 2005!!....Christ how we never won is beyond me!

2009 and 2011 :(

2009 and 2011 :(

Nah....Xavi and his little partner cloud our judge

It has been the only two times when I saw Barcelona have barely the majority of possession....They just used it more wisely.

The two finals came down to the fact that Pep out smarted Fergie in both games!...Pep said that Barca were struggling so he put Messi in the middle and the front three changed positions and they killed us....For all the slack Moyes gets, the image of Phelan and Fergie on the bench folding their arms and sighing was embarrassing....That defence was there for the taken and they never exposed it!!..He can blame poor hotels in his book all he wants but he had no answer when he should have!!...That is a stone wall fact!!

2011....Fergie made his own grave with that team so you are right on that  ...Except the 2009 final...The arrogance on here was awful

EDIT...Just realised, O Shea was our MOTM in 2009 haha...Even still, the arrogance of us, even on here was dreadful

In a really fecked up way, it's an exciting time to be a United fan right now.

I know that almost everybody else doesn't feel that way though.

Im pretty excited. The only thing that bums me out is Moyes. tbh. everything else is potentially new and will be interesting to see where we go.

It is a bit exciting, with all the unknowns about what will happen and all the build up to a wank worthy summer for all us transfer muppets. It was like that at the end of last season too. Sure everyone was really sad about SAF retiring, obviously so. There was a bit of excitement at what was next going to happen with us. The only thing right now, like mancan92 said, that is bringing me down a bit is having Moyes in charge.

I don't know if this is still unpopular

We should just hire a better manager and let him have the rest of the season to tweak and try things out before mounting a fresh start next season.

And if that's not the case, moyes should just use the remaining season to iron out things and started his prefered formations and getting the players to start playing according to his vision (if he has any). Persisting with shit 442 football for whatever reasons will only make next season first month another adaptation period, I'd rather he started now.

Agree and disagree...

Agree, it's exciting to see what a new man can do

Disagree, that it's Moyes and what he's done so far...The most excited I got with us this year is when we signed Mata...And when De Gea trimmed his cheeky little beard

why the hell is Phil Neville (lovely guy and great servant apart) coaching a championship winning side when he hasn't coached any football team at all in his life?

RAWK and Bluemoon actually aren't that bad. Having been reading on both of them the past two days, it's similar to here. There's a few nutters, but for the most part they're ok. The main difference is the running of the site. I think the modmins and admins here do a better job.

Never had a real nosey around on Bluemoon (though when I googled my old username overthere I seem to have a stalker) but RAWK is fecking shit.

RAWK is quite decent and I have been there for almost one year now. You can have good debates there. The biggest problem IMO is that gifs in football forums are not censored (and then extensively used by many users) and the lock of threads. And of course that they don't have a Newbie forums which will stop idiots going in the main one, but that thing is in every forum (except redcafe). The shit ones likely get banned fast though.

I think that Bluemoon is the worst forum I have ever read. The amount of bitternes, arrogance and delusion is miles ahead of any other forum.

RAWK has too many posters - simple as that.

It's good for your forum to be busy, but you actually rarely see good debate on there due to the sheer enormity of posts.

If we're still using this thread for it's intended purpose, then:

Janujaz is a fantastic young talent, but for now at least Raheem Sterling is better.

I agree, bluemoon is shocking, far worse than RAWK

I'd agree with that. Januzaj has more potential and isn't that far off but Sterling is in his second full season at Liverpool, while Januzaj is half way into his first. Januzaj I think is also a more intelligent player, but it's harder to get the same output and consistency if you're playing in a team like United this season, in shit form, playing shit, slow and long ball football, compared to a team who is in flying form like Liverpool who also plays good, fast, attacking football.
Sterling is also a lot more explosive compared to Januzaj.

I think they're both at a pretty similar level, but I think Sterling is more intelligent (on the pitch anyway).

Who's Janujaz :)
I agree, only thing I'd say is that Januzaj has been the best player in a poor team this year, he's been under immense pressure and still performed. If I had to pick which one I'd want in my team, I'd go with Januzaj.

Rooney will be shifted to midfield under LVG. Permanently. Partly because he moves at midfielder pace most of the time recently, but also because we won’t sign anyone better this summer.
