United under LvG: verdict so far!

I am just sick of him. He just isn't able to put a proper team from this selection and this is actually a very good selection of players. Fellaini should NEVER be first option in the number 10 position and why can't we play 4-5-1?

I know that our strikers are currently shit, but so why not play with one striker and more midfielders who actually do score some goals?

Ah, screw it....

This game for me is the straw that broke the camels back.

Terrible team selection throughout the year, I still have no idea what the feck his philosophy is apart from play badly and lump it to Fellani when we're behind and just terrible terrible performances.

I'm not saying I want him to be sacked or not, but if this was Moyes, then people would have been screaming for his head to go by now.

We're in fecking February and he still has no clue how to set us up.

This hoof it too Fellaini tactic has gotten a little out of hand when Mata tried to hoof it too him standing 10 yards away and with better options. Better than usual though, but after we went under we looked absolutlely clueless.

He's too attached to certain players and formations, he clearly has his favourites and it's badly affecting our performances. What good is a manager that won't change things that aren't working?

Thing is, who would we get instead? We totally screwed the pooch when we picked Moyes over Mourinho and we'll be reaping the rewards of that decision for years to come as we scrabble around trying to find a manager without a club who isn't gash.

He's doing what Zeman was doing with Roma. All the needs to do is to get a keeper from Uruguay - whose name you haven't ever heard - and replace De Gea with him.

The team was fine on paper.. But he started with Fellaini in an advanced roll from the beginning. I don't get it. If he cant trust the midfielder to play in midfield, don't play him.

Didn't have the 3 man solidity in midfield I thought that team would have when the team sheets came out. Messed the attack up because Fellaini became the target man. Not his fault.. but the whole thing was messed up.

Love your optimism. But no. If you can't put in a performance and win against Swansea, who have been playing absolute gash recently, then you're not going to beat an inform Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal or City, not to mention Spurs on the way up.

He's finished, he's spent a bunch of cash, then complains about not having balance, then plays players out of position, plays out of form players, and then has the mind to say "We're one of the best in the league". He's living on borrowed time. De Gea is the reason for our good defence record. Our wins have been extremely fortunate bar a few decent performances.

He won't reach his goals, which means he'll have to go.

Form is irrelevant sometimes. I always knew we'd struggle today, tough place to go and play and our away form is dire. I don't think he's finished (unless he doesn't get top four, then it is bye bye).

I'd just add that when we play bad, it's because we're crap, when we win, it's because we're lucky. We've not been good, but it's LvG's first season and I'm willing to give him time (obviously he needs top four, or else he's gone).

If we don't get fourth and LvG is still here, I'll be absolutely livid. He'll deserve the sack just as much as Moyes did.

we really didn't play badly at all. We, unfortunately, have two duff strikers at the moment, RVP and Falcao. It's not as though RVP didn't have chances today. LVG can not legislate for that.

We were unlucky to lose really. However, we didn't exactly deserve to win either. Two upfront is still not working. RVP once again offering little.

And then when the going gets tough we resort to hoofing it upto Fellaini continuously.

This pisses me off the most. Letting Sir Alex pick Moyes, a nobody, that hasn't won a fecking thing, instead of a proven WINNER. Now we have van Gaal who has the personality of a slipper.

Utterly clueless. No chance of top 4 with the run in we have. As soon as top 4 is mathematically impossible, I hope he will be shown the door.

That was our best away performance in ages. First half was a bit meh but the first 20 or so minutes of the second was as good as anything we've produced on the road.

Won't stop people losing their shit because we lost though. Oh well.

We had three shots on target. Three! Swansea had six, despite having half as much of the ball. A good away performance needs to be measured in more than possession stats, and that wasn't one.

The second half performance up to Swansea's good was very good and enjoyable football to watch. Everything after the goal is what I've not enjoyed about LVG's reign so far.

Time for him to fecking go, and he can take his bum chum RVP with him.

Time, sadly, is a luxury we don't have.

It's simple, if he doesn't meet his goals, top 4, he's gone.

On current form and the way its been all season, he isn't going to make top four, so hes gone.

He's an absolute con artist.

What was the philosophy today? Possession, don't create any chances, get countered, lose.

Same crap every week. Where is the improvement in performance level?

Not much better, end of the season will be truly the time to make proper comparisons.
I have to be honest here, I’m bored, I haven’t enjoyed watching us once this season, I haven’t enjoyed the pass back, pass back, pass back tactics that we are playing, I haven’t enjoyed the piss poor attacking play, I haven’t enjoyed the terrible team selections, I haven’t enjoyed the weird substitutions, I haven’t enjoyed the anti-football, the long ball, the ball possession play, the monotonous insomnia curing football. I haven’t enjoyed LVG.

Can't understand why we look so disjointed. We don't even look like a team, we look like 11 strangers trying to play football together for the first time. Doesn't matter if you have all the stars in the world if you can't play like a team.

Agreed, but I still think we'll get top four. It will be close, but I think we'll sneak it. On current form, apart from crap football, our results have been quite good.

OK now I am worried. He doesn't seem to have an idea of what is his best team, plus his tactics are playing into the hands of the smaller teams in the league who will more than likely do what Swansea have done today. Defend deep, nick a goal somewhere down the line.

Good thing we've got Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and City ahead of us to play now then.

Well bonuses all round then, the first decent away performance in about two months, faith restored.

It's all well and good FINALLY putting in a half decent performance but when you select hilariously under performing players who ultimately cost you the game, what's the point?

You are right, but unfortunately that speaks more to the terrible performances that we've put up as opposed to what we produced out there today.

We had a lot of possession, as always, and pleasingly we were able to put more pressure on our opposition than we've done lately by recycling the ball in the final third. At the end of the day though, we barely created a qualified scoring chance in the second half, against what's arguably been the worst team in the league since the turn of the year.

No matter how much you dig to find positives, the verdict will always be the same thing after a match like that: Not good enough. And when it's part of a trend, rather than the exception, questions must be asked.

He is struggling and could/should be doing better, it was a very difficult job he took on but he makes strange decisions and there are no signs of improvement.

The team and squad are a shambles that isn't all his fault but huge change is required and that could include the manager. I don't think we will finish in the top four and we then face the choice of sticking with him or maybe looking for a more modern manager, there are pros and cons for both and not an easy choice.

I am not even mad anymore on him, I think I used to be more mad after we were winning some games. I guess I have already got used to this crap.
