UEFA Champions League Matchday 1 fixtures (18th - 19th Sep 2018) | Kick off @ 17:55 and 20:00 BST

Nainggolan has to be one of the most overrated midfielders in the game. Just because he has a fancy name and scores the odd stunner he's seen as some kind of midfield dynamo. Very poor tonight.

Messi so clinical tonight. Been somewhat on the periphery, but just converts every chance that comes his way.

Sad how the return of former holders Red Star to the competition gets overshadowed by clubs such as Tottenham, who never won it.

Outside of Juve Italy has been a wasteland for years. Napoli got some hype for their style of play but have never made an impact.

Makes me wary about buying players from there, it is such a different tempo and what works in Italy will often not work in the PL.

Such a lazy opinion, especially now. Roma made the CL semis last year and Salah completely dominated England after ”only” being good in Italy.

And dont’t forget Alonso, Jorginho, Pogba, Pereyra etc.

Almost like we're currently a far better side than they are, regardless of history.

bla bla bla typical statement by people who doesn't watch a Serie A game in a year….

the wasterland have performed better than England according to UEFA coefficients.

Italy has only performed better than England in the coefficients once in the last 5 years and that was 4 years ago, although the overall points total for the last 5 years is close, England is still ahead. I think the Italian league has shown more depth in the past couple of seasons though.
