U21 Euro Championships 2015

Germany is impressive. Denmark seems suspect defensively. Why is Hojbjerg benched?

3:0 Germany looks good, hope Denmark players dont drop their heads and moral way to much, they need to the job vs Serbia.

Said in an interview that he isn't fully fit.

Cheers. Germany were impressive.

I'm really looking forward to Sweden - England tomorrow. England has better players on paper no doubt, but this Sweden team has made a bit of a habit of punching above their weight and should put up a fight.

Can was roundly booed off by nearly the whole stadium when subbed. Music to his and my ears.

Ye, will be good. Sadly our best defender screwed himself against Italy and will miss the game (Milosevic sent off when they got the penalty). Beating that french team in the quals was crazy. They had Imbula, Kondogbia, Martial, Kurzawa, Sanson, Fekir, Laporte, Umtiti, Zouma, Bahebeck, Thauvin. Had they qualified they'd have been one of the favourites for this tournament even though they prob wouldn't have won it (team moral/attitude).

Do you think Rodgers will actually use him in midfield next season? It seems obvious that he's much more suited to playing there than in defense or at fullback.

We're buying defenders, albeit cheaply, so it would suggest we're looking to move Can out of there. Hope so anyway. Whether Can get get in ahead of Henderson, Milner, Lucas and anyone else we buy there is another thing. But with the 150 extra games we're likely to play in Europa there will be plenty of games for him to take by the scruff of the neck to see us through.

Not sure he's fully ready for the premiership as our number 1 midfielder just yet. Then again, I wouldn't mind being nicely surprised.

How was Kimmich?

Kimmich was very well from the time he and Can switched positions. At the beginning of the match Can was playing behind him - later on it was Kimmich playing a six as a ball winner and build up player from the back and Can more in a box-to-box role.
That matched a lot better to them.

You could really understand why Pep and Co. wanted him and even paid the "high" transfer sum as he might really be a player that matches very well into the system.

He's big, quick and athletic so I think he'll find his footing in midfield in the PL fairly quickly, I wonder if Rodgers might look to use him with Milner and Henderson to give you a lot of strength in there, allowing the front 3 freedom, I suppose it depends where he sees Coutinho playing.

I might be biased but i tho Lingard had good game vs Portugal but then again heard Southgate saying something like how results in this Euro are way below development of player, target wise.

England has a lot of good players on the bench. Why are players like Stones, Chambers, Ings and Loftus-Creek not starting?

Should have left Lingard in though, regularly one of the best players along with Redmond. Should have taken out Tom Carroll and I don't really rate Hughes. Gibson and Moore are shite too, don't know why they're playing.

England's team is so average, asides from Kane. Think they'll struggle today. Guidetti and Thelin will cause problems.

Kane should be on ahead of Ings, but it is confusing that Stones hasn't made the team. Lingard did well in the last game, was subbed and has now been dropped

That lineup....... some of those players sitting on the bench......Drop Lingard?

It's classic England

1. Pick odd assortment of players
2. Bemoan luck despite losing
3. Continue (1) again.

These pundits on my tele are so shit. The last game the one guy was calling Nathan Redmond, Jack Butland until the other corrected him and then starting saying he is an attacking defender.

It's all ingrained in the English mentality. As soon as an opposition presses the centre back's or keeper, by default it's a long hoof. How many generations will it take to resolve this?

Amazing really, Portugal played possession football for 20 minutes and the commentators were waxing lyrical about them, England do it for the first 10 and they feel we should be playing direct.

Thats because they know how to play possession football, anyway dunno why but lose my shit when i see formation with 2 DMCs.
