U21 Euro Championships 2015

Boooo. Anti football etc etc

Portugal's kit is nicer too.

This is amazing. We were ranked as the worst team in the tournament and then we go and fecking win it. I just love this team.

Congratz Sweden.. You made us Nordic nations proud.. Apart from Denmark of course... You guys are top notch and by the way thanks for Lars Lägerback.

Enjoy your team's success fans of Sweden here in the Caf.. You guys deserve it.. Cheers.. :)

Swedens U21 team from the final loss in 1992 in the Euros. Quite a few great names in there to say the least.

Man, 5-0 against Germany and now this :(

Oh well, well done Sweden, congrats.

WOW! So technically England are the moral champions. Incredible.

Well, Sweden beat Portugal (and drew) and Italy (with a man down for majority of the game) and England lost to both. Sweden did a huge mistake in overestmating Englands ability but it worked out anyway fortunately.

I remember reading about their route to the final. So many last minute goals.

Looks like Lewicki would walk into our starting XI based on his performance. He is fecking everywhere, more lungs than Park.

There's absolutely no way he is not getting signed by a bigger club after this tournament.

Leave Lewicki alone! :)

this is an insane achievement! Love the team. So much team spirit and heart.

Isaac Kiese Thelin was in the B squad of a midtable team in sweden a year ago.. 6 months with Malmö FF, Champions League, transfer to Bordeaux and now U21 champion. Good year for him!

This is absolutely incredible...For a country like Sweden this is massive. I'm so happy, work is gonna be brilliant tomorrow!!

LVG should be signing half of the players who were in that final from both sides...we badly need to invest more in youth

Lewicki impressed me the most, we haven't had that type of player since Linderoth.

I loved having Thern-Schwarz as a midfield duo and that type of midfielder is probably going to be easier to produce for us than a ball playing one which we've been trying to lately. If we're going to continue playing 4-4-2 we without a doubt need that type of central midfielders against the bigger teams.

Hopefully Lewicki can use the Golden Player award to find some good place to develop. The timing is perfect, he's already been at Bayerns youth setup and was offered a first team contract that he declined for first team football which would have been a poor idea as getting out of Allsvenskan once you are there can be tough.

But now he has had four seasons of first team football and he's just 22 years old. An age where he needs to make quite a big move if he wants to reach a top club this way.

@Balu What did they say about him when he played for your youth team?

Don't really know that much more. He was a starter in our second team (basically a u23 side), that got relegated from the 3rd league in 10/11. From the few games I watched, he looked decent without standing out, but then we were overall a bit of mess and got relegated for a reason and I didn't follow him or the team regularly. We tried to keep him, offered him a new contract but he left. That's all I know really.

Thank you mate. Yeah it was excellent day. It was our first silverware in 8 years, so you can imagine the party.

About the game today, not very confident and the german manager was smart to reinforce their midfield since it is our stronger sector, but i hope it´s a good game and the players give everything. Some are extremely tired but so are the germans, no excuses there. We don´t have a good historial against them but someday we will have to break the cycle. We just need the spirit of Sérgio Conceição in our team

Went quite well for you.:(;)

Great that you ended the 8 years. See you in the CL?

World champions of Europe!!

of the universe.

Congrats mate, you were spot on. Swede4n nullified Portugal and their lack of a focal #9 was clear, I actually thought you were going to win it in the second half as the momentum shifted.

Heh hope so. We will need an easy draw in the play off though.

About yesterday´s match, i couldn´t even watch it due to work commitments but i want to congratulate Sweden. Also a word for our players, who did very well but lost again in the penalties (same as Figo u21 generation). But there are great players in this team and we will surely see more from them in the future.

:D Cheers mate. I wouldn't say I was right, I would have bet on Portugal to win it. But Sweden have done very well tactically to nullify and force the opponents to play a very back and forth game. Over the two legs against Portugal we had more or less the same amount of chances as them and the same went for the Italy game and I thought a draw was the fair result against England.

It also seemed to tire the opponents a lot and it let us grew in to games in a great manner, so the coaching staff deserves all the credit they are getting.

You guys had some great talent in the team. Sweden won the tournament but I think the Portuguese team had the most talented players. At the end of the day what you really want from a U21 is some talents who can become key players for the senior team.

For all the praise Portugals offense got through out the tournament you conceded just one fecking goal in all the tournament facing the best teams of Europe like Italy, England, Germany. It came very late when you had nothing to play for as well against Sweden who needed a goal to survive.

Do you think the defense of this team can eventually be part of a Portuguese senior team?

Sweden definetely has talent but in all portuguese media analysis the deciding factor in this final was Sweden´s physical power and superior tactical approach. There was a graphic comparing the games played by Portuguese and Sweden players this season and the portuguese players had double the ammount. Even so, this isn´t an excuse and these are the calendar circunstancies in this kind of U21 tournaments. We are sad but Sweden was a worthy winner.

This defence will definitely be a part of our portuguese senior team. Pepe, Bruno Alves and Fonte (the main choices now) are all over 30. Paulo Oliveira is highly rated and is dubbed the new Ricardo Carvalho. He comes from a very positive season at Sporting and played very well in his first Champions League stint. Ilori has alot of potencial but he needs to play and evolve. Rafael Guerreiro already played for our main senior team and will probably replace Coentrão as LB since Coentrão will probably move to LW.
