Thought he did well we he came on. Looking unlikely he’ll stay past the summer but that was better than his usual poor showing.

I think im in a huge minority here but does anybody else see him as useful enough to be a SUBSTITUTE left back. he's quick enough and works hard, his short passing is decent - of course theres room for improvement, especially for what we want from this role in attack, but he had a long lay off and may well still have some improvement in him. I dont seem to rate him as badly as others do

He would be fine as a squad player… if we had a decent incumbent in front of him and if he hadn’t had the injuries he’s had, which means he needs games.

Players like these come in for a couple of years, and then move on. Think it’s best for both parties he moves on, as otherwise his career will fizzle out to nothing.

If we were using a traditional left back, sure. We really need attacking players in those positions to move forward, even as a back up.

Whatever happened to the rumours that he may have been going out on loan?

Until we get someone in, we can’t really afford to lose another wing back option with Antony away. Doubt he goes this window.

No, he's not good enough even as a squad player. I never thought he was good enough, even before his long injury lay off.

He did ok the other night but that was against a very understrength Rangers side.

I don't think he's particularly quick either, we've seen him done badly for pace a few times this season!

FCSB 0:2 Man Utd New
The good.... I liked how high he was on the left as the LWB.

The bad... Whenever he was on the ball (though he did hit one good cross I think)

No bump from yesterday, but that really wasn't good. Seems to be a step behind a lot defensively which results in him just lunging in to stupid challenges. His touch and passing is also very choppy.

With Dorgu coming in, I wonder if it's best to either sell Malacia or get him on loan next season. He has mostly looked like a liability after his injury.

I didnt expect to be the first to comment after the game. Was terrible, nothing he did changed my mind. His level is not the EPL. Needs to leave to continue his own career.

Well below standard physically and technically for a Premier League FB/WB and it’s been obvious for years. He does play with some tenacity but that’s it.

He’s a €15m playing like a €15m leftback who came back from a 1 year injury.
He was a squad option at best, and his injuries set him further back in terms if ability and athleticism, so his performances are not really surprising

He was poor yesterday. He showed some tactical discipline by staying wide, but that’s about it. He’s too slow… I could go on listing what he’s not good at - but the reality is he’s not good enough in all areas.

He was open a lot yesterday, but Martinez refused to pass to him most of the time.

It highlights, how much of an improvement we could see with a good left WB. It won’t be just an incremental step up, it would be significant.

He's basically had 2 years out of the game. Needs a loan to a less intense league for now and assess again in the summer.

Don't think he will fully recover from the injuries he has had, lost alot of pace and it looks like he needs to leave.

Hopefully we can get 20m for him or something and not make a loss on him.

No need to re-assess, he was never the required quality before his injury. He was a stop gap signing at best.
Benfica supposedly taking him on loan.
Must mean Alvaro Fernandez is leaving, can't see us loaning out Malacia to play backup.

Sold the backup LB (Beste) which leaves them with only one LB in Alvaro, who's currently injured. He'll be sharing the minutes with Alvaro.

We can't get 20m for him. Contract until 2026. Even 10m would be decent money.

Amorim literally said he can't play the role, farewell Malacia.

"A player like him is a full-back. He played with the national team outside and inside, but sometimes in this system, sometimes it's hard for him because he's not so offensive.

"He can play as one of the three defenders, if we have more possession and more control of the games. It's a really difficult context for him. But he's our player and we are going to help him."

Even if it's a book of coupons, we certainly can't really turn any offers down. He can't stay healthy, isn't good and doesn't even play a position this manager uses.

£10m would be insane as it would mean we make profit on him.

At a guess it'll likely be £3/4m + add ons.
I’d like to think given Malacia’s age where he still has potential, his salary not being huge and going to a weaker league that we could fetch a total package of €8-10 million. Especially if he can have a reasonable loan which I assume it will be.

Why only 10M?

Bc we re in the business of getting fleeced. Not being smart about it.

Why not? He wasn't very expensive to begin. Didn't really improve when he was here, and then had a huge injury that he is still only getting back up to speed from. Honestly if they pay 10M, that's a lot more than I expected anyone to pay right now.

Why only 10M?
He came for 15m, hasn't looked good enough once in 2.5 years, half of which he was injured to be fair, and is at an age now where no further development is expected. Why would he not have gotten slightly cheaper?

You can imagine clubs paying more than £10m for him?

Poor player, although will likely be back with that inflated buy clause. Still, one of a long list that we need rid of, so he’s heading in the right direction.

It's 10m euro as well, so £8m.

And no mention of an initial loan fee, so once again we seem to be making no money out of loaning one of our players out.

At least all his wages are being covered, so not one where we're actually helping to pay a player to play for someone else. But still not yet got to the point where we get any money from loaning a club a first team player. I did hope with his wages being nothing astronomical that this might be one where we could actually charge a team for the loan. Hopefully that'll start happening at some point for us - it does for virtually everyone other club.

Because if we get €10m, we've made €5m profit on him, plus whatever we get with the 30% sell on and his wages covered.

He’s been out for, what, 18 months with what is said to be an incredibly serious knee injury and he’s been hooked at HT as often as not in the few starts he’s had since he came back. He has plenty to do to prove he’s even worth €10m, never mind expecting more for him.
