The thing with Malacia is that he was never any good going forward but was half decent defending so the wing back role is never going to suit him.
15mil??He was decent before he joined Bournemouth. At AZ he showed how effective he was tracking back and getting forward and delivering quality crosses. There's a reason why he was on Liverpool's radar. If our transfer and scouting department weren't so dumb thinking we could rely on shaw being fit we could have got him for 15 million before he joined Bournemouth
He's also not a wing back. He was more of an inverting full back and not great going forward.
That’s blatantly untrue.OTT comments. 18 months out. Only 18 months ago he was keeping Shaw out the team and pocketing the winger who is favourite for the Ballon D’or at the moment.
Had good passes down the line for Bruno, but also misplaced a few. He can only do 45 mins at a time. I wouldn’t call him a lost cause yet.
Okay, let’s say 2 years ago to make it more accurate. That’s blatantly untrue.
I don’t think he was ever really keeping Shaw out of the squad for more than maybe a game or two. Malacia isn’t anywhere near good enough for United, to be honest. Even as a squad option.Okay, let’s say 2 years ago to make it more accurate.
He was a cheap punt. He looked like he might become a solid bench option before his injury, which is really fair enough for the outlayHe was already looking like a lightweight pre-injury. Another weird signing.
That was always my impression as well. I am totally fine with the club taking those punts when they feel it might turn out a good deal. Still hope, there is a player in there somewhere, I honestly like his skillset the most from all our fullbacks. Lets face it, in attacking aspects, none of them is pulling any trees which definitely is a problem but all of them should be adressed, not just the guy who was out for more than a year and is now finding himself adjusting to a new position on top of all things. He was a cheap punt. He started the season when Shaw was injured and once Shaw was fit, Shaw was always first choice at left back except for some games when we experimented with him at centre back.Okay, let’s say 2 years ago to make it more accurate.
He can't run anymore. He has literally zero hope as a PL defender, never mind a wingback, with the level of pace he now has.OTT comments. 18 months out. Only 18 months ago he was keeping Shaw out the team and pocketing the winger who is favourite for the Ballon D’or at the moment.

His final appearance pre injury was the Sevilla game, a game we were comfortably in top before his errors gifted Sevilla two goals.Honestly I can't remember him being a particular standout player pre injury.

Agreed.Nice to see how we’re all able to keep it civilized when one of our players underperforms
The lad has been giving his all from day one, and had the misfortune of being injured for 18 months and most likely never to fully recover
Yeah probably better to sell him, but jeez, have some respect guys
