Twenty20 WC

Yup, that was a key one to get Morkel, as he's dangerous and alongside De Villiers they could easily have won the game for SA.

50/4 (9 overs)

I can't see SA winning from here, but lose any more wickets and they'll have to start thinking about scoring as many as possible for NRR reasons rather than winning

Unbelievable, what a group!! Despite not winning a game, Pakistan have the best NRR out of the three struggling teams. Bottom line, IF they beat South Africa and England beat New Zealand then Pakistan are through.

Cricket, bloody hell.

(don't tell Spoony)

And the replacement seamer couldn't get a visa because it's the weekend and will come only tomorrow. Wonderful.

Praveen Kumar. That's why we played with 2 seamers and about 8 spinners and got trashed last match.

We got thrashed because Dhoni once again decided to rely on Jadeja's spin and dropped Chawla.

Jadeja's record before this match was very impressive. We got trashed because our batsman were clueless(again) against short bowls.

Agree with Karan. Jadeja's been excellent till now. He decided to deliver the mother of all shit performances in a crunch game, unfortunately for us.

He's much better than Chawla on the basis of about last one year's showing. I wonder what changes we'll see for today? I think Yusuf will be dropped for sure.

Also, why does Gambhir look like he can't play cricket if Sehwag's not down the other end? He needs to pull his act together, been a long time since we saw a good game from him.

And I think England will be stopped by India(if we qualify, in which case we'll almost certainly play them) or Australia in the final. Can't see any of the other teams beating England.

No changes for today

Pathan has always been like this, great in domestic competitions but doesn't perform in International Matches and why the hell is Vijay in the team, he is a decent player but really I would like to have Karthik to open the innings instead of him

I think the no changes thing is forced upon us because of a shit squad. Dhoni obviously doesn't rate Vinay. Think we'll see us playing with 3 seamers, with either of Yusuf or Jadeja(probably Yusuf) dropped when Umesh Yadav comes in. I'm not sure he's any great shakes either, but atleast he can bowl quick. It's always exciting to see an Indian bowling quick.. rare sight.

Gayle's a big wicket today. They're mediocre apart from him and Bravo.

Jadeja fecks up again. Never rated him. For someone who relies so heavily on spinners Dhoni is playing too many part timers. Needed a specialist spinner and it should have been Chawla.

Chawla's been shit for a year now. There's no reason he's even in the squad. Yes, he might be better than Jadeja right now but he hasn't performed enough to merit a selection. If Mishra had been in the squad, he could've played instead of Jadeja.

Chanderpaul out.

Tbh, India might have been better off with him at the crease.

Been saying the same thing. Over reliant on part timers.

Yea, I felt the same way when Chanderpaul got out..

Chris Gayle can be absolutely amazing on his day, I guess today was one of those

Every team has this one batsman who is a key factor. And we always let that batsman play well. Warner last match, Dilshan over an entire series when they toured us, Gayle today. I bet they'll get Dilshan back in form next match.

Why the feck was Dhoni looking to give Harbhajan strike when he just hit a six off the previous ball, pathetic performance. Deserved to go out.

we lose because our players aren't motivated enough...only thing that motivates them these days is $$$

Another aftermath of the IPL. Which is indeed my point. It will only get worse. Dont get me wrong, I dont have anything against the concept of the IPL per se though I loathe T20. But that will spell doom for other international players as well who dont even get paid that much by their respective countries i.e Sri Lanka, West Indies etc etc. Whereas they can make much more by playing the shortest version of the game for 10 weeks in a year. Thing is when the financial balance of a sport tilts such heavily towards one side of the scale, it is bound to effect the rest.
Andrew Symonds, anyone ?

What, the BCCI doesn't pay them enough? Jadeja, Yusuf get paid 15 lakhs. That's the basic pay not including the money from sponsors and all that. It's not because they aren't motivated. They're just technically crap, most of them.

Barring Dhoni, they're all cnuts, they don't understand that there are a billion people watching back home and despairing. Zero commitment.

We got bounced out of the t20 world cup 12 months back and it feels like not a minute has passed since then. They get out to the same deliveries even after 12 months.

I know you're hurting but imo poor squad selection and too much T20 (courtesy IPL) hurt India's bid. Too many bits and pieces cricketers floating around. Even though its only a 20 over game, the value of specialist bowlers and batsmen is lost on the selectors/Ms Dhoni.

Poor squad selection, yes, I agree. I think you're wrong about there being too much T20. This year most of our team were injured for major portions of the IPL. There was no burnout factor. Last year, that was a major reason, but this year it was down to being technically inferior.

I could very well be wrong I agree, I didnt watch the IPL, so I wasnt really in touch with cricket for those 2 months.
But there does seem to something wrong with some of those players. Yuvraj Singh, I read he looked absolutely uninterested in the IPL but I even saw so in the Ind-Aus game. No idea if it was the same today. Other than him G Gambhir is looking out of sorts. I dont think India's batting is any inferior to the rest. Bowling, yes, for which I blame the part timers, solely. Batting, not at all. Its a very intimidating lineup on paper. But its not translating on the field.

He looked normal today, that's how he normally plays. He looked 100x less motivated during the IPL.

Which country are you from, btw..?

White's taking it to the Sri Lankans.

Good player. Changed so much over the last 1 year.

England. Right. So I read. Just thought his body language was a little less inspiring. Has a very good hit on him does white. He's matured a lot recently. Used to be very impulsive and reckless earlier. Sri Lanka might regret letting him get away like this.

Brilliant recovery from Australia. If they get Sri Lanka out for a really cheap score, India will still be in the tournament, mathematically.

The way we are playing, we will get beat by Sri Lanka.

Injured. Again. No one knows how. Played 14 matches for Delhi and pulled out of the T20 world cup.

And Karan, yea, probably.

Whatever happened to Sehwag btw ?

Injured. We are missing him more than I thought. Gambhir suddenly looks clueless without him. I've decided that I'm gonna boycott all the major cricket tournaments which will take place in WI in the future. Still can't forget WC 2007 :(

I don't understand why Gambhir forgets how to play cricket when Sehwag's not around. Does Sehwag stand there giving him instructions?

I miss Sehwag. Class act. He wouldn't have put up with all that nonsense short pitched bowling for long. He'd have smashed the few they bowled with width for fours and we'd be in control. He gives an amazing platform in just the way he approaches the game.

Vijay, ffs. Srikanth should be sacked.
