Twenty20 WC

Dirk Nannes is having a great tournament

9 wickets @ an average of 9.00

Very good bowler.

Even after all these years, our batters sometimes still look like amateurs against pace bowling on very fast pitches

You just don't encounter it as much

All down to Yuvraj now...oh scratch that, Nannes has bowled him

Batsmen playing about as well as the bowlers.

They need to sort it out quickly and at least get an ok defeat, as they are in real danger of a NRR loss which could leave them in lots of trouble

Yuvraj needs to needs to decide if he wants to remain a cricketer or become a celebrity (TV/Bollywood). He's terribly out of shape.

God this is embarrassing :(

Just to add on this, this is the direct consequence of those roads you tend to produce as your pitches, as flat and as docile as anything, so when you face something with a bit of life in it, the majority of your batsmen are so unprepared for it.

fecking hell Rohit, it's Nehra down the other end.. you're supposed to keep yourself on strike and bat out 20 overs to get that NRR up.

This innings epitomised his entire career so far. Shit shots when he can play proper shots, some cracking shots when he wants to play his normal shots, then some idiotic decision making. Doesn't someone advise him? Why was there no message asking him to play out the 20 overs?

Because he's yong and lernin'. Needs to learn a bit off that Hussey guy about how to stick around with a tail ender.

He's been yong and lernin forever now. Quality player, best upcoming talent in the world for about 3 years now. He's better than all our established ODI flat track bullies like Raina, Yuvraj, Kohli, but he cannot for the life of him figure out how to use his brain. God damn.

I hope the Aussies beat whoever wins this Windies v SL match. Then we don't have to worry about run rate if we're to qualify.

And the selectors haven't got a clue. Srikanth should be sacked for picking players from Chennai just because he's from Chennai. Vijay shouldn't be there. A couple of good innings in the IPL, where batsmen play 3 mediocre bowlers every match, shouldn't propel you into the national squad. Vijay's a quality test player, but not a T20 player, I don't think. Uthappa should've been there. And Chawla, wth for?

Picked a shit squad and they get injuries and refuse to pick the replacement players because the squad's shit. End result is a rejigged lineup, end up with less bowlers than needed and a completely imbalanced side.

Excellent. Pakistan coming home along with us.

I missed the fecking match

New Zealand always plays well in the big tournaments.

You really can't. Spain are a world class side in football, NZ in cricket aren't.

England batting first. This means at the start of the match the only non south africans on the ground will be the umpires.

Former Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam has launched a scathing attack on the national players, calling them 'mentally retarded' during their forgettable tour of Australia earlier this year, where they failed to win a single match. The English daily, Dawn had secured documents from the Pakistan Cricket Board, which contained Intikhab's views on his players while he was in charge. The board had set up an inquiry committee to identify the players responsible for the defeats.

"I felt that they are mentally retarded people," Intikhab was quoted as saying to the committee. "There is a mental problem with our players. They don't know how to wear their clothes and how to talk in a civilized manner."

Intikhab, however, identified Malik as someone with a "negative attitude" who was "active in intrigues in the team". Quoting an example of the factions that had developed within the team, Intikhab confessed to hearing that a group of "six to seven" players had gone to the former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq's house before the UAE tour prior to the Australia series, where they "took oath on the Quran that they will remain united against (the then captain) Younis Khan".

But Malik, a former captain, denied that allegation and said that the players had vowed to remain united in case a team member was dropped "unjustifiably". He added that the oath was taken in Yousuf's hotel room and not at Inzamam's house.

You can compare them to Spain prior to their triumph in Euro. It's high time they go all the way.

Nope mate, Spain prior to Euro 2008 always had a strong team but despite that they never managed to perform in the big tournaments however the Kiwis are always the underdogs in the big tournaments and yet they manage to qualify for Semi Finals.

A more accurate comparison of Pre-Euro 2008 Spain would be with the South African team. They always manage to feck things quite humorously, I still remember the first T20 World Cup and the WC 1999 and 2003

Pakistan Cricket team never ceases to amuse me. Why the hell is Younis Khan so hated though?

England batting brilliantly so far, 60/1 in 5.5 overs

England are fantastic to watch. Will be a good chase. They have the advantage of having 2 spinners, but the pace attack is weak.

feck knows why Bresnan's in the team instead of Bopara. Wright can bowl those 4 overs he contributes and they'd have 10-15 runs more today. Anderson should be playing instead of Sidebottom, too.

Yeah, I've not been impressed with Bresnan, particularly when batting. We lost a lot of momentum when he came in and probably fell 10/15 runs short of the total we should have made.

Should be a good close match though.

Excellent. Pakistan coming home along with us.

Don't be silly, that would be disasterous. India and England have some of the most exciting batting lineup and would be good to see both in the semis. I want to see both them challenging hard.

Pakistan deserve to be in the position they find themselves, so are going home. Not anywhere near as exciting as they were last year.

This depresses me. We all know how your predictions turn out, man..

In all honesty, two things will decide if India's going home fast or not. Our approach to the game tomorrow, and if SL lose to Australia. If we dismantle Windies and SL lose, we'll go through(because I can see us doing SL in in the must-win game that'll follow) and I'd back us to be there in the final. But tough for both to happen.

If we don't, I hope England go the distance. Certainly don't want Australia to be the champions in this format also.

SA are inhibited by their openers. Too many similar players. Smith's not a particularly good T20 player, others should play around him. But they open with Kallis who also plays the role of an anchor.

They end up pushing the really good T20 players down the order. If Gibbs is not opening, he should not be coming before De Villiers and Duminy, possibly Morkel and Boucher. They're not even giving their big hitters a shot. They should play with Smith, Gibbs, De Villiers, Duminy, Morkel, Boucher in that order and bring Kallis in as a floater when there's a requirement to anchor the innings.
