We're definitely going to be going backwards this summer it appears. If DDG leaves and we buy the kind of players we're being linked with then it shows a lack of ambition. It will also leave us as a mid table club I'm afraid and we're likely to see the likes of Pogba having a rethink about their future. I'm sure he was told we had much bigger plans.

The most rumoured transfers would give us:

Romero
Valencia Bailly Keane Darmian
Matic
Herrera Pogba
Mkhitaryan Morata Perisic

Which is definitely weaker than our side from this season.

It's time for the scouting department to earn their wage really.

There will be some under the radar players that would fit what we need.

Only position I'm worried about is the striker role as they don't normally go under the radar for long and there doesn't seem to be many options out there. Aubameyang would be good if PSG really have pulled out.

Honestly the more I look at us I am so pissed how many minutes he is getting.

What did he score in the Pl? 1 goal?

Despite people not being happy with martial he is one of our better goalscorers. In a team that struggles to score I cannot justify not starting him.

That side would struggle to finish top four again.. "champions league football will help us sign the best players in the world" they said.

Such is the life of a muppet. But look ahead, there's plenty of players we're surely interested in. For me none of the players you mentioned were in my ideal transfer window

Some of the names being touted (like Lukaku) have had better seasons than Ibra. So relax.

Also it's not unrealistic at all to expect certain players to improve upon this season to help us with more goals. Pogba, Mkhi, Martial and Rashford could well have much better seasons in front of goal.
 
Realistically no one except Woodward knows about our targets, except the failed Griezman pursuit, since Jose came, leaks have stopped.
 
Some of the players mentioned could be using us to drum up interest, other clubs and agents love using us to get better contracts, higher transfer fees etc. Then of course they all snubbed us.

Perisic might not be that bad, it is more who will play up front for us and if they can get enough goals. We will have to wait and see what happens.

Oh god I just checked the stats, we deserve to be where we are. No matter how bad Martial is, he would have scored five more goals from the time wasted on Lingard

People are so fickle. Why not have patience. We'll make some top signings, I'm confident of that.

We don't know who Jose is interested in, I trust Jose to look for the right targets but I don't know if Woodward will be able to get them for us. Even if he gets those players, they would cost more because the others team know that we will be forced to pay more money than what other teams would be willing to pay.
 
Quiet this weekend. I think we'll see some movement this week now that everything is done. Perhaps a few may not move until after internationals.

Martial scored 4 in the Premier League.
 
Hope we start getting linked to Andre Silva. Would be a perfect under the radar future star to grab before he moves from Porto and we will then want him for 70m+

This is one striker I'd like to see us get linked with. My only issue is having him, Rashford and a more established striker may be overkill

I feel the same, kinda intrudes on Rashfords place in the squad, I just dont want us to be regretting it a few years from now.

Hasn't he on more than one occasion said about giving the list to Woodward as early as march? I know it's very early in the transfer season, but as time goes on and various unforseen circumstances unfurl (like the Griezmann U turn) it's going to make Woodward even more tricky. Why talk about 'the list' at all? Doesn't it sort of compromise our position at the negotiations ?

Also, I didn't intend to make this the talking point, I was saying this window is going to decide Jose's immediate future, so he needs to step in soon and do his part. And for sure, he can say we didn't get desired targets as an excuse in case we have a bad season but eventually he is the one whose career will take a hit in such a scenario.

This. Whilst getting maybe 1 or 2 big stars would be great, I want a mixture with up and coming talent. I'm not going to pretend I know exactly who but I refuse to believe there isn't great talent we can sign up.

Before anyone says 'we need proven world class players', they aren't particularly easy to sign so sometimes you need to bring talent on rather than just buy it.

I can't say I'm at the stage of being very worried but I certainly have some concerns. Griezmann was one of the players we could of got that would take us to the next level. The other players we are being linked with will not do that at all. Just really hoping we have something in the pipeline that no one is expecting. I can't help but feel we are trying to get Bale though which will end up unsuccessful.
 
We need to upgrade what we have in addition to adding to the squad. Is Keane better than Jones or Smalling? No. Is Lukaku better than Rooney and Rashford, Yes. Is Isco better than Mata ? Yes

Sign Varane, Mendy, Isco, Lukaku and Lacazette and lets go

There's a lack of world class talent that is staring us in the face to be honest. Look at the striker options available and none of them scream world class really. Fwiw Liverpool and Arsenal have got the same problem at the moment so we're not alone.

I really would love to see us jump on the Aubameyang transfer though if PSG are baulking at his wages. We can afford it and he's at the right age profile to allow Rashford to take over in a couple of years. Both speed merchants aswell so wouldn't need to adapt our game when he left.
