Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Chelsea and selling players. Masters. They sold for 55 mil player who is unwanted, who has 29 years( in october) and who was payed to the same club 40 mill. Respect

Not impressive at all. Chelsea got him for that cheap only because of his buyout clause. He is a proven quality in the Premier League (52 goals in 89 appearances, 2 league titles in 3 seasons) and already was a proven quality in La Liga for Atletico. And, perhaps most importantly, transfer fees have really been inflated with Chinese and Qatari money in the years since he joined Chelsea.

Not sure why people think they got good fee for Costa, if not for relationship between player and club/manager Costa is worth much more than 50 odd million. Easy to forget how many times he scored important goals in the last season.

Re age, Costa will be 29, not 39. It's sort of win win for both clubs though. Atletico are getting proven player who won them league last time he played there and led them to CL finals.

How does this work? He cant be registered as the window is closed. He is still a Chelsea player till Jan. Chelsea are paying his wages.
They might ask Atl to pay a few extra million as transfer fees, but they still have to pay his wages till jan.

ATL bought his registration would be my guess, they just can't submit that registration to La Liga due to the ban.

Once the transfer is agreed it can still go through and he'll officially be a Atletico player, he just can't be registered to any new league until January. So there would be no need for Chelsea to subsidise his wages at all.

Take for instance Bernardo Silva; he was signed by City on the 26th May, a couple of weeks before the transfer window reopened. From that date onward he was officially a Manchester City player, he just couldn't be registered to play in a new league with City until the transfer window opened on June 9th.

EDIT: Just realised the window opened in June 9th, not July 1st.

50m for a 29 year old who has played well for 5 months out of the last 2 years is a great piece of business

Am not sure about this. Atletico can afford this sort of striker anyway, they bid a similar amount for lacazette in May.
That's what I wasn't sure. Although the Lacazette bid could also have been when they were assuming that Griezeman might leave, before their ban was confirmed.

Yeah well griezmann won't be there forever. It's more a question as to whether we are still front runners to buy him anymore. With Bale off the boil and Barcelona still needing to make a statement of sorts I wonder whether we have more competition this time round.

If either Spanish club want him, hel go there IMHO.

Yeah that's true. I think we might need to go for a quick purchase in January and "swallow" the CL cup tied aspect to get him early.
