Yes. He. Will. Great debate.

Seriously though, Sanchez added to the City attack makes them firm favourites. Yes they have defensive issues but they will blow all teams away and will go far in the CL also. It has to be a concern.

You really overrate sanchez

If Pep can't 'blow teams away' with the attacking riches he already has, then something is wrong. With or without Sanchez, City will score plenty of goals - as and when they get into their stride. But for as long as Pep continues to play so openly and expose his defence and goalkeeper, they'll always be liable to conceding goals and dropping points.

Title winning teams are built at the back. A solid defence and dependable goalkeeper - if City have that, then that will win them the league, not Sanchez.

He's not the oracle.

Don't you guys make a ridiculous amount of money though? I thought that United's spending was fairly unrestricted?

We do. We're the richest club in the world by a significant distance. That's the frustrating part for a lot of fans. Granted, we've signed Lukaku for a large fee this year, but he's simply replacing Ibra. So we're saving on wages with Luakaku, and signficantly so. We've also removed Rooney, Schwein, Schneiderlin and Depay this year and our wages are now going to be about 40% of turnover if this trend continues, far lower than any other club in the league.

The thing is Valencia is getting a bit older and also heard he has some injurry concerns. It is likley he can't play every game and he also shouldn't. Aurier would have been grant for rotation and Valencia could also surely use the competition. Aso Aurier, he can play leftback, he has done that before, ok not his primary position but just saying Aurier could have been usefull for us in many aspects.

Also for 25m, that is just peanuts. Pretty sure he is going to set the league on fire at spurs and we will be left wondering again how on earth we missed out on this deal. It just doesn't make sense. We need a fullback and here you have a good one available for 25m and we just let him walk to spurs. You can just see it happening that next year United will want to sign him and Spurs will say he will cost us 75m...

I agree 100%. Shaw has huge question marks over him, Blind is terribly slow and has poor delivery, Darmian is probably the worst of all our full backs and then we have the ever willing ever injured Ashley Young. It is very strange but it must be a financial thing.

People say Ibra isn't human but I think that distinction should be made for Valencia. He gets faster and fitter with age. I'm not worried about Valencia's age but I still would have liked Aurier.

Completely agree. Any missed opportunities like this (Lemar, Sanchez also) must come down to the Glazers not wanting to commit the right money to the them.

Apart from this visa issue, I think Mourinho puts more emphasis on how will he fit in the dressing room.
He's repeatedly referenced how great the dressing room is and I think he only sign players that will be positive to the dressing room.

Ability he can coach, personality and behaviour he can't.

So no doubt Aurier is good but not overly surprised we didn't go for him.
If we wanted him, 25m is peanuts.

Or maybe mourinho is happy with the squad he has. He stated he wanted to make 4 signings. He has done so.

But to fit him in they have to replace one of their already ridiculously stacked forward line, the improvement won't be all that significant when compared to their still prevalent issues with defense and central midfield.

What is the huge issue with their defence and midfield exactly? They only lost one more game than us last year but won five more scoring 26 more goals and conceding just 10 more. Not saying they definitely win league with Sanchez but they would be clear favorites. Spurs have had the best defence two seasons running but haven't won the league. We have had good defence also but finished 5th and 6th because our attack was woeful.

City had injuries to Aguero and Jesus last year, having Sanchez as another option is a problem I would love us to have. Silva also missed games and now they have B Silva to come in, never mind they have purchased 3 full backs a lot better than the 3 they used last season. I'd say they have improved greatly already even if they don't sign Sanchez.

Sterling and Sane are good young players, but Sanchez is on another level. He will be an upgrade and make an instant impact.

He's made 3. One was a defender that hasn't played yet. One was a guy to replace Ibra. Matic is the only improvement in the team from last season (aside from improvements in current players).

Think there are few available we just won't be held to ransom over them.

Bit miffed we are not going for Aurier 25m euros, I know I'm in the minority but I don't rate Valencia that highly.
I'm with you on this. I think Aurier would have improved the first 11.
All this talk of a new left back, links with left wingers - we're weaker on the right side.

Sanchez is a world-class player, but you're making it sound as if they're signing Messi on steroids.

They'll destroy/outscore some teams this season, but Pep's gung-ho approach will be their undoing. You can't just shoehorn every single attacker you have in your team + three defenders and a single defensive midfielder and expect to just blow everyone away as if you're playing a video game.

It you look closely, the signs are already there in the first three games of the season. Pep is trying too hard to be a tactical mastermind and to be different from the others. I could be wrong, but I can't see it being a success in the end. At least not enough of a success for the amount of money they're spending.

Except with Zlatan returning we have another striker. Having Lukaku, the most proven goalscorer in the league bar Kane at the moment, is a huge signing. Another CB gives us more depth (remember how stretched we were end of last season).

I think Mourinho is happy with our transfer business.

Zlatan? He'll be playing in January possibly so I don't consider him relevant to United right now. By January we could be out of the Champions League and 10 points behind in the title race (not a guarantee but potentially). We need the players now. Lukaku was a good signing, absolutely, but he's basically replacing Rooney and Zlatan's role in the team and he's on half the wages of Zlatan. United are saving an unbelievable amount of money (in the region of 1 milion a week) if we don't bring in more for the squad.

I heard he was aiming for spurs comeback in October. Still, I disagree, we don't need all numbers firing now when we have no injuries and the players are fresh. December/Jan is a great time to refresh the squad.

And how long into the season do you expect the first injury to occur? We also have Champions League games to consider. We simply don't have the numbers right now to sustain a challenge for the Champions League, particularly if we have an injury to players like Lukaku, Martial or Valencia. We'd struggle.

With Valencia we might. Otherwise I think we'd be fine. But you might be right, maybe we will struggle. I might be right, maybe we won't. Time will tell. If Mourinho makes another signing that is a good fit for the team, I'll be happy. If he doesn't, I'll be fine with that - I trust his decision either way.

I just hope it's his decision and not the higher ups. I guess we could have a few young players that can fill in, but it's a bit strange we seem to have these holes in the team and no action is happening.

I'm overrating a player that scored 24 goals in 38 appearances last season?
Yeah you are. That same player who couldnt get Arsenal in top 4. The best player of all time from Chile who is the savior of the EPL, couldnt get his team in the top 4.

Hmm fair enough. what are French sources saying about the deal ? I'm not sure what the chances of us signing him are atm.

I don't know, apparently Nice Matin say that there is no meeting and SFR say that there is one.
