Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

We don't need more players, we need better players. No point buying players just to keep a few idiots excited on dead line day.

Better players are/have been available and we aren't signing them. The window could have been more successful.

Yup, or the 'why aren't we in for him when X/Y/Z are'. That's the thing I'm alluding to, we need quality, not another proverbial Young who we'll struggle to offload in a couple of years.
Yet Young fancies another extension off us. He has his uses, but surely there are better players out there. I doubt he will get much playing time except for the cups. Cannot see him being on the bench for the league games. If he changes things, it will be the ones who are now on the bench coming in and the ones he rests being on the bench if they are needed.

Yup, I see him being useful when we go 3 at the back and Shaw/Valencia are either injured or need a rest or something. I like Ashley, right attitude and all that but I don't really see a place for him other than an emergency fullback/wingback.

Don't think Jose does either.

Yes he had a € 25 mln release clause but expired on 15 July..
Wow that's worse than Fellaini to United deal then. I guess Juve being interested ruined others getting him for his release clause.
What do they want him for? Someone else to loan out?
He's a big target man, who's also technically sound. He's caused us all sorts of problems every time we've played him.

So, because a fan wants us to sign players, it makes them an idiot?
Charming....

Unfortunately this week Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City are ALL going to buy a number of players which will definitely strengthen their squads. We should have been more pro-active this week and got a further signing.

Yep pretty much.

Serge Aurier in the next few hours to Tottenham. Five years, 25 million euro

It's not a sign of weakness that we bought Matic, Lukaku and Lindelof "ages" ago.
We have plenty of squad players and there's not that many players available that can come straight into the first XI.

Whatever City are willing to pay for Sanchez, we need to bid £10m more. Sanchez will decide which team wins the PL.

Nah mate, it'll still be the team who has the most points after 38 games that wins it. Just letting Sanchez pick who wins it would be silly.

As a Liverpool fan it's hard not to get caught up in the muppetry of recent days, and the deal for Keita next season is obviously great, but, with two days left to buy, it's still all talk at the moment. How much of that talk is idle chat coming from fake ITKs and how much is fed from the club I know not. Either way, we've still not signed any of these recent 'targets' yet.

The best thing, realistically, I could hope for right now is that we sign VVD (or another highly rated CB) and keep Coutinho.

Think there are few available we just won't be held to ransom over them.

Bit miffed we are not going for Aurier 25m euros, I know I'm in the minority but I don't rate Valencia that highly.

Get the feeling United are restricted in how much they can spend at the moment. Looks like they'd rather save money for next year. Not sure this is smart business, given the need for wingers and strikers in the current team and I'm sure we'll end up regretting not building our squad this summer.

The thing is Valencia is getting a bit older and also heard he has some injurry concerns. It is likley he can't play every game and he also shouldn't. Aurier would have been grant for rotation and Valencia could also surely use the competition. Aso Aurier, he can play leftback, he has done that before, ok not his primary position but just saying Aurier could have been usefull for us in many aspects.

Also for 25m, that is just peanuts. Pretty sure he is going to set the league on fire at spurs and we will be left wondering again how on earth we missed out on this deal. It just doesn't make sense. We need a fullback and here you have a good one available for 25m and we just let him walk to spurs. You can just see it happening that next year United will want to sign him and Spurs will say he will cost us 75m...

Don't you guys make a ridiculous amount of money though? I thought that United's spending was fairly unrestricted?
