Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Hard to believe that some people would take Di Maria back, people are so crazy about transfers that they would take a guy back who pretty much gave up on the club and refused to come for pre season
It's sad. There were even people who wanted us to sign Costa. Can't get my head around how a person who cares about United would want those horrible bellends associated with us.

Our yearly revenue was around £515 million.

Lukaku - £75 million + wages
Lindelof - £35 million + wages
Neymar - £196 million + wages

That's £306 million + wages.

So yes we can afford him but we would still need cover at RB and a DM.

I suppose it would depend on whether or not the Galzers will sanction such a high profile move and whether Mourinho could manage with just Neymar as our 3rd and last summer signing.
Financial numbers arent that simplistic.

Revenues come hand in hand with other expenses to be covered. You can't just look at the revenue number alone. Even the net profit amount isn't necessarily an indicator of what we can spend.

It's the cash flow from operations number one would need to consider. Especially to pay a release clause. Especially considering that half the Pogba payment is also due this year.(Explicitly stated in the press release from Juventus)

United cannot afford Neymar. Not for a once off payment.

Not true.

VDS
Nev Rio Vidic Evra
Hargreaves Carrick Scholes
Ronaldo Tevez Rooney

Was SAF last big winners he used to fill the squad up with academy players like O'shea, Brown, Fletcher, Butt, Welbeck etc and hopefully like Fletcher these guys become integral this allowed him to concentrate on blue chip players like Rio, RVP, RVN or a Rooney of course he signed a right few gems as well but he did like a blue chip signing.

Why anyone wants Di Maria back is beyond me. He would sulk and down tools at the first hint of trouble.

Who would want him back? I wouldn't want this quitter in this club again. It felt like he was ashamed and offended to put on a Utd shirt. I wouldn't take him for free, and he can piss off to AC Milan.

The state of some posters who want Di Maria back...

The guy was shite, never wanted to be here, got out as soon as he could. Used the club, and sums up everything wrong with our absolute shambolic recruitment policy and woody's vanity project.

If you give enough money as mourihno said the circumstances become irrelevant, as with griezman, we should have chucked another £25million.

We need another world class player, a winger like dembele and it's Obvious, mourihno has pretty much said that we need more quality going forward. He is also putting the blame on Woodward which is fair enough to say he has failed until he secures that level of quality.

Everyone wants to charge us tax. Madrid wanted De Gea tax. Spurs have Levy tax. Even Inter gave us tax for trying to play them with the FFP situation. Everyone just wants to overcharge us because we're United and we have money

The news of Matic being available for £50m was released earlier in the day in a Telegraph article, but it was quickly taken down. I said at the time that it was probably due to journos not being allowed to release it until 10.30 (when most exclusives are usually released) and that's exactly what happened with the Telegraph, Mail, Mirror and a few other papers releasing an article on Matic then.

So the "Lukaku tax" was mentioned in the Mail, Mirror and now the Times but not in the Matt Law article in the Telegraph. Why would there be a "Lukaku tax", if Chelsea were supposedly not interested in Lukaku and Morata was first choice all along? Someone's lying for sure.

Exactly and Lukaku tax reference is poor journalism, so what if Chelsea missed out...it happens move on!

Do we reduce the Lukaku Tax with our 'Morata rebate' that they got off Madrid?

Yet people wonder why Woody takes forever to get deals done.

Rashford is up to the challenge, but the real concerns are Lingard & Martial. Lingard has already hit his ceiling, and it's a low ceiling. He seems to be popular in the group as a joker/entertainer, so we I guess Jose keeps using him for the sake of morale. Martial does have a much higher ceiling, but he is not the right type of winger Mourinho needs, and his decision making is questionable.

That's right, offer him 100k a week so he tells jokes in the dressing room, high fives with Rashford and dab together with Pogba, coz who else would do that?
Might as well throw 200k a week to make Zlatan come and give them some Zlatan facts during training.

Lingard is utility man, who was brought through the academy and he adores the club. His work rate is high and his movement is smart and sharpening. He's got qualities Mourinho values. And yes, he is a morale booster - him, Pogba, Rashford, Pereira are all from the academy and are close.

"Lukaku tax"
The feck is wrong with these goons?

Don't worry about the name, you're being caught up in semantics. You can call it "idiot tax" for targeting a want-away and unwanted player from your rivals while being happy to considerably overpay for him.

Let's just hope we're not idiots enough to pay it.

Regarding Matic, I'd love it if we string them along all summer before buying Fabinho/Literally anyone else and they have to find a buyer for Matic quickly or get stuck with him.

Lukaku tax being mentioned in multiple papers indicates a briefing by Chelsea. As I said earlier, it doesn't make sense to buy a 29 year old Matic for ridiculous sums of money. Better to look elsewhere.

It is stupid journalism as you say, because why should we pay tax on them missing out on a player according to them they didn't want as Morata was their first choice and they got him.

This is pretty much what we did to Madrid and got them to accept less money for Morata. I can't wait for Woody to pull the same with Matic as well.

What's all this talk about Di Maria? I wouldn't take him even if they payed us to take him.
