Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Agreed, I'm not sure what team some people were watching last season and I'm also unsure what makes them have such high hopes for the above mentioned players. There's a lot of brutal clubs around at the moment, clubs backing their manager with insane fees to strengthen. Given they were all generally ahead of us already, now is not the time to be hesitant. If you're going to pay that money for pogba/Lukakau, you need to go all in and back it up with players to share the load.

I feel as far as the top European clubs go we are miles away, but even domestically we look short of the top 3 and will be in a battle with Liverpool and Arsenal for the 4th spot, we just haven't built the attack up nearly enough, I'm not keen on Lukaku but it's done now, and at best he'll recreate Ibra's numbers which still leaves us needing another genuine source of goals.

Seems that a lot of accountants are united fans and know better than anyone how/when to spend the club's money. Thank god for you guys.

Seems like you've mistaken this for a forum on Manchester United the business, not Manchester United the club whose fans want it to invest and win things.

PSG asked Di Maria to leave.
Lucas should go.
Ben Arfa's contract will be terminated.

Wonder where Di Maria will end up this time.

Lucas would be great for us though, hope we go for him. Doubt it though

Hell, i'd take Di Maria back for the right price and if he could prove to Jose that his head was in the right place.

Wait what, 230m on Neymar and 60-80m on Sanchez

club ain't worth that much let alone get enough revenue
They can organize a in house sponsorship to pump cash into the club with no problem.

Wow yeah when you put it like that i can see why they'd want to get rid.
The thing is Barcelona is not looking to rid, but trying to renew with Neymar. I said somewhere on this forum that Neymar may be worth more than 200mil for Barcelona since he's a top player who is closer to Messi level & his commercial pull is of the greatest of active player. 200mil transfer budget doesn't look that much now since the availability of great players are limited. Replacing Neymar's commercial value is extremely difficult.

It seems to me that our gameplan is to just hope Rashford and Martial develop and some think Mkhitaryan will be our Hazard/Sanchez, personally I think a rude awakening is on the horizon, people seem to forget we finished 6th and were awful for months last season, we've not done nearly enough to address the poor attacking options.

Rashford is up to the challenge, but the real concerns are Lingard & Martial. Lingard has already hit his ceiling, and it's a low ceiling. He seems to be popular in the group as a joker/entertainer, so we I guess Jose keeps using him for the sake of morale. Martial does have a much higher ceiling, but he is not the right type of winger Mourinho needs, and his decision making is questionable.

Can't understand that opinion of Lingard after seeing the three pre-season games we played. At least I bit of doubt…

I agree that he's probably not going to improve much more but I think there is more to him now than some people think. He's a quick thinker and he's always thinking of the next move - which is why his quick link up play is so good. Not to mention that he tends to chip in with very important goals and not just the odd one or two when we are already 3-0 up. He's never going to be world class but as far as squad players go, not a lot of people have anyone as good as he is and would be happy to sit on the bench if told to.

I'm not gonna lie, you may disagree but I think it would be a disgrace if we re-signed Di Maria

I highly doubt Di Maria would even want to return.

He hated being in Manchester.

Wouldn't even want him back either.

I will be massively undehwlemed with matic. If he isn't good enough for Chelsea anymore he isn't good enough for us. Also if that's it for the summer and we miss out on neymar, Sanchez, mpappe, veratti, Fabinho, bale, morata etc then Woodward has failed. Considering he spent the whole football season arranging funds with these organisations as official sponsors he will have failed to deliver in the whole purposes of this sponsorship exercise which was to support the revenues for transfer spendings. Sort it out ed and get the fans excited, throw the money around and be bold.
We pulled out of signing Morata in favour of signing Lukaku. We missed out on signing Griezmann because of the transfer ban. Nothing much Woodward could do about that.

And it's not his fault Mourinho is targetting Dier/Matic for the DM role while Fabinho is available as well and it seems we're not interested at all. Same with regards to Perisic with Inter asking ridiculous amount for him.

I would like to see us get Sanchez since we missed out on Griezmann. Could play on the wings or behind/alongside Lukaku. Could be deadly. But who knows. Maybe we would be back in for Griezmann this January or next summer.

Hard to believe that some people would take Di Maria back, people are so crazy about transfers that they would take a guy back who pretty much gave up on the club and refused to come for pre season

He would be perfect for you. That's why Fergie wanted him.
A "cheapish" option to fill that no.7 shirt? It might work, since he does provide that excitement and bums off seats style that we often associate with our no.7s.

I am sorry but I would rather over spend on the likes of Fabinho than spend 50 Million pounds on a soon to be 29 year old Matic. Its the same scenario with Perisic as well.

I know that Jose probably wants Matic and Perisic, but as he himself said, clubs want extraordinary money even for good players. Perisic and Matic are just that good players and not great players. There is a reason clubs are interested in the likes of Mbappe and Neymar, its because they are younger and even if they are signed for a exuberant fee its not a problem if they sign a 6 year contract.

In my opinion we should be going in for the likes of Fabinho and Dembele rather than signing Perisic and Matic. There's no value in buying Perisic and Matic when there are better options available who could serve our club longer.

You would take a player back who couldnt be bothered when he was here the last time ?

AdM is the biggest idiot ever to play for us....he is Tevez multiplied by 5

Perisic, Dier and Matic getting slagged off all over the forum.

Now i'm reading some lads want Di Maria back

Might go back on a break from here.

By the looks of it, this is the Manchester United Moaning Forum, the place where people suffer and compare our spending (or our hypothetical spending, or the hypothetical state of the club if the hypothetical signings don't arrive till august) with clubs owned by sheiks who burn money for fun (or like Chow-Yun-Fat in "A better tomorrow"). - but, hey, here's me, moaning about the moaning. I'm no better than anyone after all. Cheers. :)

I hope PSG sign Neymar just to unsettle their players. I would love Lucas Moura here in a #7 Utd shirt. Get er done Ed!

This is not football manager, we have done well so far. Griezmann had a change of circumstances or we would have signed him. Woody will sign another one perhaps two it is obviously difficult plus clubs are reluctant to sell as the market is sky high to replace players. Plus the domestic clubs don't need the cash. Your list is pure fantasy and I'm sure Lukaku was in front of Morata so not sure why you haven't got him on the list?

The fantasy football managers are out in full force lately. We should be signing Neymar for 250mil, Fabinho for 50mil and Mbappe for 120mil, otherwise Woody has failed.

£100M on fullbacks. :wenger: None of these current managers are in Fergie or Clough's league, they have to have every single thing catered to them to get the job done, Fergie took average players and made teams that won titles.

Fergie filled his team with the best players. There weren't many average players I can remember that were regulars.

It comes with cheap quality kind of no 7 shirt too. It's more inheriting the underwhelming no 7 in Memphis, Valencia, Owen than the true icon behind the number. It's only my personal opinion but Lucas has pass the point where there is expectation for his potential. It's now more like a punt which is not the way our no 7 shirt is supposed to mean for.

Give the 7 shirt to Pereira next year.

Why anyone wants Di Maria back is beyond me. He would sulk and down tools at the first hint of trouble.

Thank you! Wouldn't want him even for a free. The way he treated us when he was here was unacceptable
