Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

For that price we should be all over it, a winger that scores creates and is excellent at crossing, taking free kicks and corners something we were terrible at last season.

100% agree. I don't understand why we're not in for him. In addition to what you mentioned he's got pace and is great on the counter attack. Instantly improves us.

These PSG stories remind me a little of the infamous Moyes window.

I still think we should be in for Sanchez.

So true. However, as good as Neymar and Sanchez are I don't see them causing quite as much of a sensation as we did when we signed Fellaini.

City may very well end this transfer window having spent about £250m on defenders alone over the past few years. Hard to wrap your head around.

4/5 of their starting defence will be world records in their position won't they?

which is the max you can have really haha

£100M on fullbacks. :wenger: None of these current managers are in Fergie or Clough's league, they have to have every single thing catered to them to get the job done, Fergie took average players and made teams that won titles.

Yes it's sickening, and we can complain about it sure, but if this continues and Pep gets all his wishes then we need to be concerned. Our neighbours are paying whatever fee it takes and they are signing some very good players, while Jose is saying he will have to settle for 3 players as 4 is unobtainable.

They have to be aware that they must be pretty close to Mbappe´s breaking point. They are literally selling the whole team. If Neymar goes to PSG, it only makes sense to throw in the towel and take the 150-180M from Barcelona.

It's madness.

Stones £50m
Walker £50-55m
Mendy £50m
Danilo £30m
Ederson £35m
Bravo £18m
Otamendi £30m
Mangala £42m

Fergie is GOAT or top 3 at worst to be fair. Mou and Guardiola at best are top 10.

It seems to me that our gameplan is to just hope Rashford and Martial develop and some think Mkhitaryan will be our Hazard/Sanchez, personally I think a rude awakening is on the horizon, people seem to forget we finished 6th and were awful for months last season, we've not done nearly enough to address the poor attacking options.

It's crucial they don't sell Lemar and Fabinho. Losing two midfielders and left-back is manageable.

Any truth to the post?

And why 50M for a soon to be 29 year old makes no sense when a similar 23 and 24 year olds are "kinda" available both appearently wanting to play for United for the same(ish) price. OK that would be all three expressing an interest in United, to be fair, but you get the point.

Agreed.

I am happy to hope for some organic improvement, and we should expect some, but the bare minimum had to be add a top class right wing option to the squad. I don't think there's a player in our squad who's best position is right wing, it's a weak position that we can sort whilst still allowing plenty of game time and development for our other attackers.

In fairness, if we ran a poll right now, I don't think you'd see many people selecting us for the title. There seems to be a general recognition, even on here, that we are still a way off in terms of the squad, and that the gap is now unlikely to be bridged this summer.

PSG looking good to sign Neymar and Alexis? Dafuq? Who gave them the cheat codes?

Really hope they flop, they're going for the CL, just pray that it goes tits up.

Exactly. Subasic, Jorge, Glik, Jemerson, Raggi, Sidibé, Touré, Lemar, Fabinho, Moutinho, Falcao would remain a strong core group to which they have added notably Tielemans, Méïté, Mboula and Kongolo, not sure Mbappé should run away from this at 18 in a world cup year. They also have talented young players coming back from loans who can be interesting for some turnover (Saint-Maximin and Lopes). Losing Bernardo Silva is harsh but the rest is not that worrying and Monaco are still after high potential young wingers.

I agree that there is more realistic views here than usual, often pre-season sees peple get caught up in a flurry of shiny new hope, but the lack of top quality additions to an attack that was the poorest of the top 6 has resonated, but you still have plenty that think the players that failed us last season are going to have huge turnaround's and that we'll be in the hunt.

Agreed, I'm not sure what team some people were watching last season and I'm also unsure what makes them have such high hopes for the above mentioned players. There's a lot of brutal clubs around at the moment, clubs backing their manager with insane fees to strengthen. Given they were all generally ahead of us already, now is not the time to be hesitant. If you're going to pay that money for pogba/Lukakau, you need to go all in and back it up with players to share the load.

I really do think we'll be up there. We weren't flakey last season, the hardest part to get right is becoming a tough side to beat and Jose managed it with Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones. We didn't lose a league game for months. I can't see us struggling against bottom half teams again like we did last season. If we go in to next season without getting another player in then I certainly wouldn't back us for the title, but we won't finish outside the top four.

I will be massively undehwlemed with matic. If he isn't good enough for Chelsea anymore he isn't good enough for us. Also if that's it for the summer and we miss out on neymar, Sanchez, mpappe, veratti, Fabinho, bale, morata etc then Woodward has failed. Considering he spent the whole football season arranging funds with these organisations as official sponsors he will have failed to deliver in the whole purposes of this sponsorship exercise which was to support the revenues for transfer spendings. Sort it out ed and get the fans excited, throw the money around and be bold.
Sorry but the manager chooses the targets at United. Woody's job is to make the approaches and try and buy them. His success or failure is down to who he gets. Realistically no-one could afford more than one of the players you've listed so I don't see how you can say he's failed just because he misses out on your fantasy targets.

Seems that a lot of accountants are united fans and know better than anyone how/when to spend the club's money. Thank god for you guys.
