Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

You mean the (so far) one season wonder and the bloke who couldn't get in the barca side? Ok.
Mbappe in my eyes will the best striker in the world in 3-4 years. Sanchez is arguably top 3 best in the PL at the moment, along with their other players yes I do think player for player they could be close.

I think some would be calmer if we were at least linked to a couple of really top class, exciting players, but we aren't and the one top attacker we were linked with now seems more off than on.

Judging by our transfers last season and Jose's comments regarding the transfers this summer, I am pretty sure we will get the players who will improve us next season.

Jose said we will be looking to add players with qualities that we don't have at the moment. At the moment we lack someone who can convert the chances and be clinical in front of goal. Jose knows this and we will recruit accordingly.

I'd be more confident if there were a widert pool of quality options on the market, we shall see though.

Why does every journo or pundit seem to think that we can only sign one player in attack? Absolutely baffles me, we can't sign Griezmann because he's not a 9 and we need to replace Ibra. Well guess what, more than 1 player in a team can score goals...

Absolutely ridiculous that we can't even seem to understand that if we sign several top attacking players that will more than make up for Ibras goals, rather than be resigned to the fact that there's no individual as good as Ibra so we'll have to just accept being worse

Presumably because as Woodward said in his last commentary relating to our financial results - we are coming end to a period of heavy investment.

We aren't going to go out and spend £80m on Griezmann and another £80m on someone like Lukaku, with other positions such as CM and potentially CB needing investment also.

We might be spending around £150m gross, but I would highly doubt it'll be £250m. Especially since a lot of our historic purchases still have significant fees to be paid.

We don't really know who are we going for. The journalists have a couple of names who they link to us on a daily basis. And even then, the worst option would be Lukaku, who had 26 goals last season.

That's what city did for years and now look they are better then us. We need to buy bale, Greizman, top MF the lot, we are so far behind city and Chelsea who will go out and spend again

Honestly, that would be the end of United if we're coming to the END of heavy investment. To me, we've only just started. Pogba was just the first in what should be 30 or 40 top level players owed to us by the Glazers for the money taken out of the club. Last summer, and the first under Van Gaal were the only two in which we've spent more than 100m net on players. That's truly insane from a club that should be aiming to win the Champions League.

That's exactly what I mean, I don't rate Lukaku any more than I did Bent or Defoe, goal stats alone don't alter what a limited and technically poor fopotballer he is, he's not a player that will make this team any better, he's essentially an inferior version of Ibra.

Lacazette isn't a world class striker but a good one. If we got him at something like 50m, I have no problem and will save som budget to spend on other signings.

Doubt the news is true, though.

So Atleti commits transfer fraud and the result is they get to keep their best player? Wonder if they influenced the CAS decision to uphold the ban since it's a preferential outcome for them.

It's a tough one because he scored 7 and got 3 assists in those games playing as a left back and left winger. He is very highly rated, the English Bale. He has only just turned 17 though so the PL might be too soon.

Maybe another Championship loan then and see if he's ready to be a first team squad option the next season, although to be honest it seems more likely he'll go to Spurs.

I'd prefer this so much more then Lukaku.

Me too, Lacazette isn't great but he's a bit more rounded and not as reliant on having the system caterd to him.

Wake me up when it's be start of the season. I'm watching the testimonial, going on jury duty, then holiday, then hopefully we have signed some people and I can watch pre season with some joy

This is why we encourage Tweet posters to check their sources before they post.

Even when linking articles, people should make sure the read them, because often it is not that different outlets are reporting the same rumor, it is that one reported a rumor and then 5 others report that the outlet has reported the rumor. IE Sky says Messi to the MLS. Then the Guardian says Sky is reporting Messi to the MLS, then ESPN says Sky are reporting it, and so on.

Yep. They should read the article and check the source.

He slammed the thread with this one as I can see. Not a good day by any means for a caf muppet.

Personal feeling is there will be more ups and downs in this one but we will see.
Saving face in front of the fans obviously.
