Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

The reason City are buying early is they could face a transfer ban after 3rd of July

At CAS 3 July 2017: CAS 2016/A/4903 Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield v. The Football Association Ltd., Manchester City FC & FIFA

So they need all new players registered before the court case starts, so even if they lose the case
the new players are still able to play for them next season.

Maybe Stoke is closer to home for him, good signing for Stoke as he was very good for West Brom.

Edit: West Brom were also linked with William Carvalho, maybe it'd mean less minutes for Fletcher if they brought someone in.

Could be that WBA only offered him a 1-year deal, too.

Pretty sure City's ban is only for academy players

But one can only register them once window opens, which should be 3rd July this year

Looking like it's going to be one dry and dead window. Any average players out there willing to join us for big money?

Griezmann, Belotti, Mbappe, Lacazette, PEA, Falcao, or even just stick Fellaini up front, I mean they do almost the same things

Fellani and Lukaku do almost the same things upfront!? I know some people don't rate Lukaku but come on now, this is getting silly!

Lukaku is obviously faster and a better goal scorer, but technically they are about the same and both lack mobility.

Relax my friend. Everything is under Woodys control.

Come on man. He isn't the best technically but he's better than Fellaini  His mobility isn't that bad but obviously the frame that he possesses makes him not the most agile forward.

I really don't think there is any difference between them technically, both are clumsy when they try to move with the ball and both have a poor first touch, both are awful technically.

AS Monaco & Arsenal, who are interested in Riyad Mahrez, will not pursue the player if Leicester maintain their €45m asking price. (FF)

Riyad Mahrez's salary demands, €550k a month, are also putting off AS Monaco, according to Nice Matin.

He's bang on. Simply buying a striker leaves us where we were last season. We need a few top quality attackers and I do the mean Perisic.
Done with the window. Im not mentally strong enough for this rollercoaster

It's first of June ffs.

Am I the only one who is surprised by this? West Brom look like they're going places where as Stoke on the other hand...

There was one point between the teams. Over the the last 5-6 seasons Stoke have comfortably been the better team with several top 10 finishes.

Id take him but it would probably mean the end of Mata. 550k a month isn't outrageous either assuming that he actually gives a shit and tries his best.

That salary demand can't be true.

Words escape me... this is obviously so far off from the truth.

I think some would be calmer if we were at least linked to a couple of really top class, exciting players, but we aren't and the one top attacker we were linked with now seems more off than on.

No it isn't, so go and grab your words back, Lukaku is awful technically, his touch and control are very poor and he lacks agility, he's faster than Fellaini and scores a lot more goals, but if we are talking footalling quality he's very much in the same bracket of ugly to watch.

That's about £480k per month which would be more than the likes of Neymar earn. He can't be serious demanding that much.

Come on mate. Watch any highlights video of Lukaku and you will see him beating defenders. Sure he isn't fancy footed but he's got pace and power, he isn't the perfect signing but I'd take him over Fellaini up top that's for sure!

I'm glad to say I was one of the ones who were glad we were linked with him.

Because he was coming from Southampton and he wasn't a massive name. Guess he wasn't fancy enough for some of the fans, but he was already EPL proven and had performed in the big teams on numerous occasions. He's now doing the same thing for Liverpool.

I can imagine it'll be the same thing if we were to get Morata/Belotti instead of Lukaku. That's if we have the chance, of course.

That goal against Chelsea in the F.A. Cup springs to mind when you mention beating defenders.
