What's to say in a much harder league he will be?
That's a huge risk, to rely on them.
By that logic Griezmann wouldn't do good in PL too.
So is spending £50m on a player who might transfer his goal scoring exploits in a weaker league and pinning all your hopes on him to do the business.

No but a player who scores goals consistently in the French league (Like Cavani who still many don't rate) isn't guaranteed to come over here and carry on doing so whereas someone like Lukaku has previous in this league so we know he can do it.
Let's be honest, there aren't so many superior versions of Ibra out there.
I am not a fan of Lukaku tbh, but if he comes here and scores 30-35 goals next season, which I think he is more than capable of in our team, then a lot of people will change the opinion about him.
And on it goes. I don't remember a transfer window that has seen us linked with so many players that simply make people feel totally despondent.
It isn't guaranteed but it's a risk worth taking. Instead of pinning your hope that Martial and Marcus will come good. And Ibra will be the same.
Mourinho said it's very unlikely to get your plan A so I doubt this too much. He wouldn't have put all his eggs in this basket. I'm sure he has about 2-3 plans in place.

Griezmann not coming is depressing as feck, exactly the player we needed. The other players we're linked to hardly get the juices flowing either. He's the only genuine World class player who was available.
Hoping Martial and Rashford won't cost us £50m though, I'm not saying he is a bad player but if Jose wants to play with one up front I don't see this guy being the one to do it.

What I meant was that we weren't great with Ibra, a player who requires that the entire attack is catered to his needs, Lukaku is the same, he needs the whole system geared towards him, but he's not good enough to merit it, and if we couldn't do all that well with Ibra we aren't going to do any better with a lump like Lukaku in his stead with even more limitations in his style of play.
Maybe, maybe not signing Griezmann will turn into a blessing in disguise.

Not even close, that one was the worst for me, it's only the June 1st so Greizmann never really got going, and far play to him for standing by his club in times of strife, can't win them all.

I hope there is some excitement for us. You felt the excitement of winning the EL final and the signings it could lead to. Now you look at the names linked and that we likely would have got them anyway. I just feel incredibly flat at the moment. Hopefully the mood will lift.
