Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Well, it was previously reported by L'Equipe that Chelsea could send him out on loan.

Yeah, but that's an other news. In that one there is no mention of loans and it's also said that Bakayoko to Chelsea got cold.

Weird how when your starting striker is guaranteed to miss half the season and also there's no actual guarantee he'll sign on for another year anyway that signing a striker would become the priority...

The tweets don't even say we aren't interested in Griezmann now, just that we want a striker more. Calm down.

For what it's worth I find it hard to believe that Lyon would be interested in a loan move for Zouma, considering they already have 2 very talented CBs and don't need another prospect there. Especially one that they wouldn't be able to sell later on.

If uncle Roman gives them a bundle of cash with strict instruction to throw some back at Chelsea to help redress FFP they'll loan anyone

Briefed !

Not buying this for a second. Woodward Had Mourinhos list way before the Injury. Griezmann was always tipped to be coming. And if we wanted a new #10 when Zlatan was fit and Firing, why would we not want one if he's no longer signing. We would need him and a striker aswel. Sounds Like we are just trying to force AG7 to pressure Madrid to sell.

Even if Woodward/United had in fact reconsidered signing Griezmann and moved onto other targets, how exactly would it benefit the club to give out that information?

Ajax sign Huntelaar.

Weird player. Looks to have all the ability and certainly knows where the back of the net is. Only big teams he played for was half a season at madrid, who then sell him for less money than they signed him for to milan, and he stays for about, 2 seasons.

Doesnt strike me as someone with an attitude problem but you never know i guess.

I'm trying to stay as calm as possible, but the fact that City (one of the title contenders) is doing business and they've completed around 30-40% of their transfer list is getting worrying.
I don't want to panic, we are one of the biggest clubs around and we won't let things go by us, but while they're nearly at the halfway line we are still boggling over the transfer list.
It doesn't matter if the transfer window opens on July 1st or July 31st - it only matters for the players to be registered in their new clubs. Deals are being negotiated as we speak and we are falling behind our rivals and other title contenders.

We should move faster cause City is buying players or what? Tell me who's on City's list? Given you know the percentages and all.

He isn´t a very good player.

We only won the Europa 8 days ago!!! That's when we knew what competition we were in and how to work things. Realistically you can't expect us to have everyone lined up ready to sign on the dotted line. Falling behind is frankly a laughable statement. Jose would has his list handed over, Woodie will work at it the right way. All that matters is we have most of our business done before we fly to the US in July.

There's not an extra trophy for whoever finishes signing players first

This clear briefing smacks very much of negotiation tactics to me. I think we're saying 'take it or leave it' to whatever we've put on the table. Who else that can afford him would realistically sign him?

Oh, of course.

I don't get that, though, as they are all differ in styles.

If it was out of Morata and Mbappe, though, then it would have to be Mbappe. His potential is frightening.

It's pure conjecture at this stage but I think what Ogden was saying yesterday on some radio interview makes sense. That we have multiple options and have contacted around 15-20 players. Our signings will probably be complementary of each other. For eg if we get Moratta our other targets will change accordingly in an attacking sense and so on.

I don't really think we are gonna buy guys like Perisic, Willian etc simply because these are good supplementary players when you have a good settled squad and need to tweak things a bit, kinda like when we bought Valencia.

But what we need at this moment is some big changes so I think we will go after big targets with a fluid transfer strategy that will keep changing depending on who we get. If we can't get anyone only then would I expect to sign players like Perisic etc. Of course this is all speculation on my part but this seems like the most sensible course of action.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Milan, PSG.

It appears we're in the point of the transfer cycle where muppets start jumping off bridges after United's been linked with class players from dodgy sources. We'll sign some players soon enough.
Anyone who thinks we're not improving the squad this window should turn their phone off, turn their computer off, and go enjoy their favorite beverage in the sun if there is any poking through the dark clouds of gloom hovering over your head.

Just an analogy:

Chelsea were 8th at the end of September 2016, City were first.

Prioritising a number 9 over Griezmann has always been the smart move, even before Ibra go injured. We don't even need a 10, and I'd maintained concern about this from the difference due to my preference for a 433.

I don't know if some want a change of formation, or they just want us to sign a player for loads of money who is a big name, but Griezmann never made the most sense to me.

I appreciate we need more goals in the team, so we should look to do that within the existing structure. Gareth Bale, for example, would add the 20 goals we want from Griezmann and allow us to keep our shape, and crucially, not impact the effectiveness of other players.
